Atlanta: Metroplitan city of the South

Advantages: Great weather, lots of trees, culture diversity, nice houses and affordable
Disadvantages: Over speeding on highways, can get pretty dry atimes

...For some of you looking to settle down in a city that is metropolitan and yet affordable, then this is one option you shouldn't overlook. Normally, we think of cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and the rest as real metro cities and true they are. But Atlanta, not having perhaps half of the skyscrapers these other cities have is a big contender for the person that wants to have a bit of both urban and sub-urban worlds in one city. My first surprise was when we were approaching touch down. there being so much haze in the air I could not see the city skyline from a distance, but what was the real surprise was the amount of forest scattered across the city. ...Chicago airport. On a recent visit to san Diego, we had to have a stop in Chicago airport for a couple of hours...most of my travelling seems to be spent in airports! It was the busiest airport in the United States until Atlanta became the busiest and it was apparently voted best airport in North America in 2000...that's 8 years ago so i don't know which airport has been winning since then. The airport is 20 miles from downtown Chicago but since we weren't actaully going to Chicago we didn't actally leave the airport so I can't comment on the transport links. **The Terminals** Of course when stuck in an airport these are the places you see most often. ...I use Alicante airport for my annual break in Spain and find it is convenient and fairly easy to use. It is situated just outside Alicante on the Costa Blanca, around 46.5km from Benidorm. It is within driving distance of Valencia, around two hours and 179km. Arrivals You would probably fly to Alicante if you were staying in Benidorm, Torrevieja, Altea, Calpe, Moraira or Teulada. On The Doorstep Of Heathrow Airport

Advantages: nice rooms, convenient location, lovely pool bar

...I stayed at the Sheraton Skyline hotel near Heathrow airport in September 2007 before I flew out on my annual holiday. I booked this hotel because according to their website, it is literally on the doorstep of Heathrow Airport. Room Our room was located on the 10th floor but sadly the room overlooked the hotel car park but to be honest this wasn?t a problem because we weren't staying here for the view! Our room was very large, much bigger than I expected for the price I paid. The bed was extremely large, probably about 6 feet wide and very comfortable. It certainly left us both feeling like we had a decent nights sleep. The room also had two wardrobes, an office desk and chair and a lamp on either bed side table. There was also a fully stocked mini bar but to be honest the prices were so extortionate that we didn?t even bother...

The best value for money is places like the Jimmy Carter Presidential Centre it is a must for all people old and young and at $5 excellent value for money, here you can trace Carter's rise from peanut farmer to President through pictures articles and video, there is also a replica of the Oval Office. You will also see gifts from other coutries leaders and after you have finished, you can take a stroll around the Japenese Gardens or have a drink in the restaurant. Belfast International Airport

Advantages: Internet, Cheap car parking

...Belfast International Airport (Belfast Aiport) I flew out of belfast airport around four years ago, when I did fly out of the airport it was a bad time to fly out. The day before we where to depart to orlando the shoe bomber came on the scene! So the airport secuirty was put up. But the airline I was travelling with most of their planes had Technical difficuilties. So I was delayed for 30 hours and had to stay in the Hilton over night. So I should be able to tell you enough about it as I was in it for 24 hours. Area... The Belfast airport isn't in belfast, it is closer to Antrim a city near belfast. The airport is around 12 or 13 miles away from Belfast. So I don't know why they called it Belfast International Airport. But there is a hotel beside the airport. So if you have a early flight and you coudn't be bothered to get up...

...Arriving At Doha Airport When we arrived at Doha airport, we were taken by a shuttle bus to the main airport building. As you enter the airport, you will notice that there are two directions you can take which are well signposted. One path takes you to the main part of Doha airport and the second route takes you to any other connecting fights. Facilities There is a small food court in the departure lounge at Doha airport. Here you can choose from roll, sandwiches etc to the normal fast food such as burgers and chips. There is also a little shop which sells ice cream and drinks. Exactly how an airport hotel ought to be

Advantages: So close that you can almost feel the breeze as the planes come in to land
Disadvantages: It's more expensive than the more distant airport hotels

... When is an airport hotel not really an airport hotel? I have spent a stupid amount of time in airport hotels in the past year and have learned that the term 'airport hotel' can be very misleading. Some, like the Sheraton Dusseldorf Airport really are right at the airport whilst many can be a 10-15 minute cab ride away. As for shuttle busses that take you almost an hour to get from the hotel to the airport, there are far too many of those knocking about. My advice - for what it's worth - is to make sure you know exactly what you are getting when you book an airport hotel. A good price can be spoiled by discovering that the shuttle bus only goes once an hour and a taxi can cost you half the room rate just to get there. The Sheraton at Dusseldorf airport is exactly the best kind of airport hotel Why were we there? Back...
