...Look out Las Vegas! Atlantic City is in the process of a $1.2 billion face lift. This will include two new casino's, a new tunnel linking one side of the city to the other (less traffic congestion), new attractions, fixing up the Historic Atlantic City Lighthouse, knocking down and rebuilding older houses. They've already added an ice skating rink (affiliated with the Philadelphia Flyers), some new attractions, added on to current casino's, and they have two minor league teams (baseball and basketball). They also added a beautiful new art museum on the boardwalk over looking the ocean. Other than the casino's and the boardwalk there's the beautiful white sandy beaches. Unlike many other beaches in the area, it doesn't cost anything to access the beaches in the summer.... Read review

Disadvantages: Very poor customer service, make mistakes and expect you to pay for them.

...Moved into new house June 2007. Current supplier was NPower - switched to Atlantic straight away. Took approx. 2 weeks for change to take effect. In August received final bill from NPower for £150! Telephoned them and turned out they had recorded the meter reading incorrectly (1 digit was wrong). Thought nothing more of it until last month - received a letter threatening court/bailiff action if the bill was not settled. Telephoned them again - their customer service department was not helpful at all, in fact they were down right rude. Called Atlantic - completely different. They rang NPower and got us sorted. However just received a letter from their debt collecting agency again threatening court action. Rang NPower - same bolshy attitude and no help forthcoming. Advantages: Minature TV, free drinks
Disadvantages: can't really think of many

...I had been on many other airlines before I travelled on Virgin Atlantic and none of them even come close to comparing with them. I have been with Virgin Atlantic twice to go to America and they have been the best flights I have ever had. In each seat on the plane is a free welcome gift consisting of headphones, notepads, pens and numerous other items to keep you ocupied. In front of every seat is a minature TV with 5 channels on it and during the flight they show five different movies on each channel and then repeat them so that you get a chance to watch every one. Drinks are served for free which includes soft drinks and alcohol, and you can have as much as you want. Meals are served at breakfast time, dinner time and lunch time, depending on the time of your travel and snaks are offered free in between. All this is for economy... Read review

Advantages: Entertaining flights and good deals at the moment
Disadvantages: Only 31 inch legroom in certain seats

...Great airline, great service, great people. I know Virgin Atlantic has had its fair share of knockers (no sexist pun intended) over the years, and that many people have been disappointed by the hype surrounding Virgin because at times it has been TOO popular for its own good. But, since the terrible tragedies of September 11th that affected all of us in some way, Virgin Atlantic has actually improved a great deal. Maybe Virgin is just having to compete more in the threadbare trans-atlantic market. I've flown with VS eight time in the past five years, two of those times being in the past six months. The Boeing 747-400s are still quite full, despite what the press says...probably due to many flights being taken off the schedules for the time being. However, now that the classic 747-100 and -200s aren't being used, everybody gets a better... Read review

Advantages: Fabalous flying experience - these people are not Virgin at giving people a great flying experience! (Sorry about the pun, I couldn't help myself!)
Disadvantages: Virgin do not yet have a very big choice of destinations to choose from, but they are always expanding!

...If you have to fly somewhere and Virgin Atlantic provide flights there then I highly recommend you fly with them. But why I hear you ask, well if excellent customer service and amenities even in the cheapest seats are what you are looking for, then Virgin is the way to go. I allways find Virgin products and services seem to be a cut above the rest and their airline is no exception! I was hugely impressed with the service that I have received on my Virgin Atlantic flight, both at the airport and in the air. The staff were very helpfull and attentive, they also looked very very smart unlike some other airlines I know (That may be antoher op!). Also, every seat on my transatlantic flight from Heathrow had their own viewing screen in the seat in front of them, so there's no need to try to get a view of the main screen 10 rows ahead... Advantages: Loads of dance music, not many ads
Disadvantages: AM and the occaisonal pop tune

...I don't know what this station is doing in the Local Section. Atlantic 252 is a national dance station on Long Wave 252. But anyway, this station wakes me up most mornings. The breakfast show is now first class, Tony Wrighton and Becky do an excellent job nowadays. True, in the past the station did have a very repeative playlist. But since the relaunch the station is really good now. The music is excellent, they play 'non-stop rhythm and dance'. They even pay people to listen. Ads are kept to a minimum and they beat Virgins 10 in a row with their 12 in a row. To win the money you have to ring up and tell them what 12 songs were played and for each one you get right they pay £25.20..so that is £300 odd quid if you get them all right. This they do EVERY hour during the daytime on weekdays! Better than your local station and Radio 1... Read review

...Been flying on Virgin Atlantic reguarly for at least seven years now and can say that this carrier has got many more positive attributes than negative ones. Food: like most airline food, Virgin's is not always the greatest but it's not horrific and on the LHR to LAX route there's a lot of food to go around even in economy class. Flight crew: Cheeky, fun, professional, but a bit impatient with non-English speakers and elderly non-English speakers. Legroom: What you'd expect for each class. Cramped in economy, all right in premium and lovely in upper. Ground service: Often leaves something to be desired on the LHR side; nicer in US. In-flight entertainment: Fantastic selection of music, games, tv programmes, films, etc. on demand. Seatback unit is a blessing especially when you consider other European carriers still have only... ...Atlantic 252 is a dreadful radio station, every time I happen to come across it I find it difficult to believe that anyone can actually be tuning in! The Music isn't very good for a start, they seem to roll out the same rubbish every day and the Djs are excruciatingly bad. That is a minor problem compared to the station's reception. In a modern era of crisp CD sound Long wave music radio doesn't cut the grade. I can't imagine an old vinyl record on a dodgy grammaphone sounding much worse! If you want to hear music on the radio stick to FM mode, but for your ears sake don't hit the LW button!... Read review

...Virgin Atlantic flew us to Barbados and back, and the flight was pretty good, apart from the plane being struck by lightning on the way home. They sorted out a block of seats for our group of 16, and the hostesses were friendly, and even gave us a carry out! The leg room was marginally better than BA although being stuck behind someone with a broken seat for 9 hours on the way back after an exhausting tour wasn't ideal. The food was good and the films excellent, with a good choice of programmes. The baggage was well handled, and I would travel with Virgin again if going on one of their routes. The food was good but not outstanding but I was able to sleep quite on this flight.... Read review
