AdvantagesThe sheer grandeur and ambition are worth praise - and the overall execution is simply excellent

DisadvantagesSome character consistencies aren't so well explained

...There isn't an easy way to describe or to compliment the team effort from the Wachowski siblings and Tom Tykwer, and their boldest, grandest feature adaptation of Cloud Atlas, based on the novel of the same name by David Mitchell. All that can be said is that it's brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Here is a film of unimaginable scale and ambition, six (and maybe an extra half) different narrative...

DisadvantagesThe concept might be a touch overdone, it has some sections that are quite hard going

...When Cloud Atlas was first published, I bought the hardback and it took me about 6 weeks to read it. I ploughed through it relentlessly, and was left completely bewildered as to what it was about, what it meant, and who the hell this David Mitchell character was. I found some parts of it fascinating and others as dull as ditchwater. Six years on, I?ve managed to read it in nine very busy days...
