Star Wars: Attack of the Clones

Advantages: A solid Star Wars score with an absolutely fantastic new theme
Disadvantages: Muddy recording quality and a little less exciting action for a Star Wars score

...Now that the Star Wars prequel saga has reached its Third and final episode I think its time I handled the remaining Episodes in my soundtrack evaluations, handling Episode II first. With The Phantom Menace proving to be a big disappointment for audiences due to its weak story, incredibly irritating and silly characters, and the over-reliance on CGI, there was much less expectation and trepidation for Attack of the Clones. With Anakin Skywalker now grown up he is assigned along with his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi to protect Princess Padmé Amidala who has recently become a senator and whose life is now being threatened. This then leads to a forbidden romance between Anakin and Padmé, the consequences proving to be far-reaching as we all know. And furthering the rise of the Galactic Empire is the Trade Federation's creation of an army...

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones - Jedi Quality

Advantages: Great Special Effects, Great Sound Track, Hours of Bonus Material
Disadvantages: Story Could Have Been Stronger, Hayden Christensen

...I will try and keep this review as un-bias as possible, however I do have to admit that I am a bit of a Star Wars fan! Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones is the sequel to Episode I: The Phantom Menace, it begins around 10 years after the first instalment of this prequel trilogy and in many ways it is a huge improvement. This time around the story is aimed at the frustrated love between an older Anakin Skywalker and the now senator Padme Amidala, while the rest of the film revolves around this plot, the remainer of the film seems to be the more interesting with twists and turns and some great action scenes. The majority of the actors deliver a great performance, McGregor continues in his role as Obi Wan Kenobi and is as great as ever, Portman again plays Amidala, however this time is not irritating in the slightest (apposed...

Attack of the Clones!

Advantages: Good range of varied special features.
Disadvantages: Special Features vary in quality.

...nuclear war between the Argolins and the Foamasi the planet is barren and everyone lives in a protective dome ~ the war incidentally only lasted for TWENTY minutes. The Argolins have been made sterile by the effects of the weapons used in the conflict and the problems start when one of the Argolins (the youngest called Pangol, himself a clone) on the planet decide to use the Recreation Generator (that runs the famous games on the leisure planet) to clone himself to create a massive army (to finally end the war with the Foamasi by wiping them out for good). The story bounces around as the plot gets a little complicated. Pangol's "mother" Mena (the person who runs the Leisure Hive) falls under intense pressure (from a financier called Brock) to sell the technology to the Foamasi, then some Foamasi agents arrive and expose Brock as a member...

Advantages: Seeing the Enterprise in more glory than before
Disadvantages: Saying goodbye to favourite characters

...with addressing the demons in his character and also...how he acknowledges that he has become 'safe'. The battle scenes are great and the enemy ship scary and impressive. It is good to see Picard coming up with a reckless way to attack when it seems that all hope is lost. In some ways this film did feel like a long episode of the next generation. But when you watch it...perhaps for the second time it is worth noting that this is them saying goodbye...ready to pass on the movies to a new generation. Advantages: Great presentation, good value 2 disc set, Yoda.
Disadvantages: Complex plot, cheesy moments.

...I have a confession to make. Some of you aren't going to like it. Some of you may be shocked, offended even, but I figure what the hell, I'm amongst friends here, so I'm just gonna come out with it, throw caution to the wind, let the chips fall where they may and be damned with the consequences. Okay, here goes... (deep breath). "I liked Star Wars Episode I better than the new Episode II: Attack of the Clones." There, I've said it. To be honest I feel better for it, it had to come out sooner or later. This has no doubt come as a dramatic bombshell to many of you, Episode II is, after all, considered by many to be a vast improvement over The Phantom Menace, but once you've regained your composure/ stopped laughing/ mopped up your spilt tea, I'll offer you my explanations as to why. Fantastic, this Clone War is.

Advantages: Its Star Wars baby!, great story great effects, Samuel L and Yoda
Disadvantages: A bit too corny at times

...unfolding before my eyes. In hindsight I realise that “The Phantom Menace” is not as bad a movie as it was made out to be, it does contain some of the greatest Star wars moments ever committed to film, however it was not and never will be the movie that the fans were expecting. No matter though, as a true believer, I waited and hoped… I knew… that Episode II would be better, much better. However once bitten and all that, it niggled at the back of my mind. It could happen again, George could deliver of us a movie below our expectations. And so it was with a great sense of excitement and a due sense of foreboding that I approached the UGC cinema in Edinburgh. Review of Body Attack Fitness Class

Unsinkable Attack

Advantages: Clever plot, twists and turns
Disadvantages: Not as funny as previous work

...which are being carried out in order to set up a seat for Psychic research at the local university. He is stumped when Lafayette seems to be passing all of the tests and can't seem to work out what scam he is running..... This is a fairly clever story and looks at the scams that psychics employ to trick people into parting with their money. There are also some attacks on popular press and politicians which is generally to be expected from Brookmyre. Although the book was enjoyable enough, it just wasn't as funny as his other work (in my opinion). The black humour is still present but it just didn't grab me as his books normally do. "A Big Boy Did It and Ran Away" had me laughing aloud on the train and although this was funny it just wasn't the same type of humour. I still enjoyed reading this book but for me it wasn't his best and I'm glad...

Rat Attack!

Advantages: Good idea for a game, easy controls.
Disadvantages: Poor sound effects and music, not so good graphics.

Two rats that were sent off in a rocket for a scientific experiment have returned, Washington and Jefferson are now equiped with alien technology to help them create a rat army.
