Top notch for your money

Advantages: Jumperless. Loads of features. Loads of BIOS settings to play with. Everything!
Disadvantages: Expensive to some

...Not only does this wonderful Socket A motherboard have loads of great features, it also comes in a rather nifty plastic covered box with rope handle! The Epox 8KHA+ KT266/A has been the recipient of loads of positive reviews from top Internet Hardware sites since its release a short time ago. If you check the Epox website (http://www.epox.com) you will be able to read any of the reviews (unbiased!). My humble review will try to outline the main features of this board and be as non-techie as possible, but the professional reviews will go that bit further. OK, on with the review! ?.. Once you see the container box of the 8KHA+, you will have a fair idea of the sort of quality that is inside and you won?t be disappointed. The 8KHA+ is a top end board for those who wish to get the most out of their Socket A Athlons/Durons. The box...

Sleek and sexy, oh, oh, baby

Advantages: 266 FSB, 4 IDE's, RAID, XP Athlons
Disadvantages: Wont make beer.

...SoA VIA KT266A ATX R Sleek and sexy, oh, oh, baby. Ah... though this isn’t just another motherboard. This is the motherboard I “want” to buy, this is the best low price motherboard available, it will let you use the most up to date RAM and some of the fastest chips around. It’s a sexy motherboard. For anyone that doesn’t know what a motherboard is. It’s a big set of circuits and chip and it’s the backbone of your computer. Nothing works without it, everything uses it and it is the “Motherboard” of your computer. You will have some other “boards” in your computer, normally called cards. But this is the “mother” we are talking about. What does the motherboard do? What doesn’t it do? -------------------------------------------------- Your...

A good mainboard

Advantages: Stable; not that expensive
Disadvantages: There a newer chip technologie

...First I have to apologize my English. Coming from the German Ciao I just thought about writing in English and so I?ll try it. One of the most important part of a PC is the Mainboard (MB), because all informations has to pass it. So I was very unhappy, that I had problems with my new one at the beginning. The MB has the old chip KT266A. Now the newer KT333 is already available. But I prefered to buy it, because it is a well developed one and the new KT333 is just 5%-10% quicker. Normal PC-User don?t notice that little more performance. ? ? ? A little bit about the Mainboard ? ? ? The handbook is ok. It came in English *grin* but there is a German one available on www.epox .de. Ok, ok...*grin* The information in the book are ok. Detailled information what happens if you change things in the BIOS are not clearly made...

This is going to be technical so beware

Advantages: easy to use, VIA KT266A, DDR
Disadvantages: some parts of layout

...without removing the Graphics Card first. This is very annoying to me, but can be forgiven by the fact that the board is pretty small. The ATX power connecter also could have maybe been placed somewhere else, because where it is means that the wires runs directly over your heatsink, which could cause problems with air flow. One really good thing about this design is that there are few heatsinks that I think won't fit on this board. I don't have a very big one, but there are no problems when fitting it (except the extremely tense spring) and there is loads of room left either side. ~~Performance~~ I have nothing to complain about performance wise about this board. It is one of the best performance motherboards in its class. Especially when used with quality components. It may not perform as well as the reference board using the VIA KT266A chipset...

If only more motherboards were designed like this

Advantages: Very stable DDR266 Motherboard.
Disadvantages: Nearly cold product being superseded by newer standards DDR333/ATA133/USB2/Firewire etc

...you expect to find in your run of the mill motherboard retail package. If your in the computer trade the mainboard can supply some helpful trouble shooting facilities with the P80P which ill talk about more later. Performance wise this computers exceeded my expectations repeatedly, which I attribute directly to the motherboard. If your in the market for a DDR266 Solution with out the need for future performance gains this motherboard should be considered if stability, performance and PCI expansion are factors. Another good reason is the P80P this will really appeal to technical guys like my self but could also be useful to a end user/first time builder. It can detect the following useful things: 1 Bios chip reversed. 2 Incorrectly flashed bios 3 Mainboard problem 4 AGP/PCI incorrectly inserted. 5 CPU Problem 6 Memory...

mATX - Small, Sound, Old

Advantages: ATX-compatible, Power-efficient, Inexpensive, Supports ATA and SATA
Disadvantages: Obsolete DDR Technology, Unsuitable for Gamers

...ASRock P4i65G is a compact motherboard for that tiny PC case. Because it was manufactured for microtower standard computer boxes, it lacks the strengths that the following customers would desire: workstation administrators, hardcore gamers, media professionals. In other words, this motherboard is currently suitable only for those with medium requirements (if you wish to buy it for a new computer) and highly recommended for Socket 478 processor owners. Introducing mATX Power Capacity Most mATX computers support power supplies of no more than 350W, and the case is sometimes too small for you to stuff two hard disks. This motherboard can easily house a P4 3.4 GHz HT (one of the most powerful and watt-guzzling monocore CPUs) that can compete with modern dual core processors, multiple DVD-ROMs and hard disk...

Micro ATX board

Advantages: Good stable board
Disadvantages: Not many PCI slots

...Motherboards are critical to any computer. The selection is wide and the features each contains need to be closely looked at. I was building a new PC and I came across this motherboard. It is a micro ATX board so is alot smaller than any ATX board so therefore has the disadvantage of not having much opportunity for expansion. There are only three PCI slots which is fine if you do not require many but considering that a modem, soundcard and now wireless cards need PCI slots then this does not leave many options if you wish to install these. The board itself has many features and comes with onboard graphics and sound. The advantage of this is that money is saved on needing to buy a graphics card and sound card. The disadvantage of this is that if you do use the onboard graphics it uses your system memory and therefore can slow...

Oh Mother! Asus P5Q PRO ATX iP45

Advantages: soo many, cannot describe them in just few words
Disadvantages: none apparent

...and so I went to open it and so I went to install it and so on only to find out that my old motherboard wouldn't support it. Its BIOS was un-upgradeable (plus few more other reasons) and so I went out again to look for new motherboard. This time I had to have it instantly (yes the very same day) but you wouldn't believe me how very few shops in London sell motherboards. I managed to find one and only ( Asus P5Q PRO ATX iP45) and there I was on my way home with smile totally excited to set it up and get it running. Well again to my dissapointment I realised that this motherboard just won't fit in my old Dell chassis because Dell's speciality is probably custom made hardware or at least motherboards which are fitted in the chassis basically upside down + few extra weird things which are here (in my humble opinion) to prevent you from upgrading...

P4P800-VM, Best P4 Micro-ATX Board.

Advantages: 800FSB P4 support, SATA, 8 USB2 connections, AGP 8X and 6ch Sound with SPDIF
Disadvantages: ASUS motherboard site can be down at times

...Without a doubt one of the most powerful feature packed Micro-ATX Boards ever to roll out of the ASUS factory. This small form factor motherboard using the intel i865 chipset which will take right up the the latest(at time of writing) 3.4 Ghz CPUs, as well as the newer Prescott CPUs with increased Cache and even Extreme edition CPUs. Add to that an impressive array of onboard features including: 8 USB2 Ports(4 on the rear I/O shield, and PCI plate which will allow you to connect a further 4 from USB headers which are useful for cases with front usb connectors) Onboard 10/100 Lan. For connecting to a home network or router for internet access or file sharing. Dual Channel DDR 400. Dual channel is basically a way of putting in two identical sticks of rm, for example 2x 512mb crucial 3200, and the motherboard splits...

ASUS M2N68 - motherboard - ATX - nForce 630a

Advantages: Very good cost/benefit ratio, like the overclocking, like the bios
Disadvantages: very bad pin and port placement

...the individual connectors outside of the cabinet and then connect to the board as one plug. Fortunately it has the same format as the M2N68, but unfortunately I cannot use it because it raises the connectors too high, taking space from one of the only available HD bays. Good board, but very bad planning. Even on my large full-atx cabinet, connecting everything was an unpleasant challenge. I do not recommend this board for anyone with a slim or reduced-size cabinet, or anyone who works with 4 hd's. And contrary to CIOS's description of 5 SATA ports, it has 4....
