There are plenty of storage spaces in the front, with under-seat drawers, door bins that expand outwards, and room in the armrest. Ride comfort and handling could do with improvement, there is a lot of body roll and under-steer through corners and big bumps are not soaked up quite as well as you might expect. Standard equipment for the SE trim level is reasonable, with climate control, cruise control, electric windows front & back, CD player, and electric seat height adjustment. Reliability is, as you would expect from an Audi, excellent. My car has done over 100,000 miles and the engine is probably as quiet as the day it left the factory. Audi A4 , more like AWWW D A bore

So lets start with the practicality of the car?.Audi call it an Avant because frankly if they called it an estate they would be sued , the boot is tiny . When you look at the actual width of the car its all wheel arches and lowness , hence the internal room feels like a much smaller car , more of a Golf than a large estate , sorry Avant. This cramped layout extents through the whole car, there are no clever pockets or under seat storage, no deep side pockets and laughably only ONE cup holder. How on earth are you supposed to have a nice Latte with your passenger , one of you will have to risk inner thigh burns, and that is not good. ...The A4 Avant can be characterised as a strange mix of opposites: great to look at, but not to to drive; big on the outside, cramped on the inside, stylish yet dull. If you want a load-lugging estate car, the A4 is not for you. In fact, if you want a family car then the A4 is probably not the car for you either. The interior and boot could not be described as spacious - front seat occupants are likely to clash elbows and knock their knees on the centre console, rear seat passengers have their knees around their ears, and the boot is no more practical than on the saloon version. Just about everyone I've spoken to complains about backache. Along with the backache, I got cramp in the left (clutch) leg from having the seat too far back just so as I could avoid the centre console... ...First impressions were of its awkwardness to get into without banging ones head on the door frame, but once inside the cabin is very good, though space for small bits and pieces is poor. After owning it for 4 years I'm well used to getting in and out. One niggle of cabin detail is the poor legibilty of the numbers on the main instruments on gloomy days, long before it gets dark enough to switch on any lights. Even on bright days the secondary KMh markings on the speedo are almost invisible, a real pain when driving outside the UK. The diesel engine has bags of torque and never disappoints, though it can be a bit noisy. The gearbox is sometimes a bit notchy and the clutch a tad heavy: the one place where the clutch really has problems is if one ever needs to reverse back up a slope: I've only needed to do it twice in 4 years, but...

...The vast majority of A4s are sold with quattro. Quattro A4s with 4 cyl and automatic transmission feel slightly underpowered. Manual-transmission quattro 1.8Ts are lively enough, while manual-transmission V6 quattros are satisfyingly quick. Lighter front-drive models feel spry with any transmission, though CVT versions are lazy from a stop. Test 1.8T CVT sedan did 8.6 sec 0-60 mph; test V6 CVT Cabriolet did 7.8. Loving my Audi A2 1.4

Advantages: Desirable,looks modern and cool,equipment,alluminium body, noise, fuel economy,not fast but brisk.
Disadvantages: visibility, awkward setting off at first.

...I dont know any other car that has aged as well as this, its 10 years old but looks more modern and funky than most new cars. Its the classiest too and you get to carry a set of audi keys. Its a car with character and some drivers wave at each other, that doesnt happen with fiesta drivers. Its also hard to step out and not look back in admiration, check out those 17inch alloys with low profile tyres. I have driven from Leeds to Sweden in absolute comfort, not once did my bottom go numb. It comfortably cruised at 80-85mph, any faster and fuel efficiency suffered because the revs were getting towards 4000. It was getting around 40mpg on the motorways going 85mph, at 70 it would return far more. On the autobahns of Germany i got it to 120mph, 10mph over the claimed top speed, it wasnt even scary. Audi A4 1.8T S Line 2004

Advantages: Driveability, Good Looks.
Disadvantages: Common Faults (But are not expensive to fix)

...Just upgraded to the Audi A4 1.8T S Line a few weeks ago from my Audi Cab 2.6 V6. I thought I was going to miss the power of the V6, how wrong i was!. The 1.8T with 190bhp is a quick machine and once the turbo kicks in you have hot hatch power in a saloon. These cars are ripe for tuning by way of ECU remapping, air filters, diverter valves and a number of other products which will increase BHP and torque. The S Line trim with the extra body deeper grill, spoiler, wide arches make the car look sporty without going over the top. On the interior the aluminum trimmings along with the half leather sports seat are classy and comfortable for long journeys. The suspension is stiff but solid on country road. Some things that go wrong in this model although these may have been rectified in the 2004 onward models are ignition coil...
