A8 Audi
Advantages: Looks Stylish
Disadvantages: Low drag in corners
...Audi?s aluminum A8 is a handsome beast. There?s nothing retro or classic about it ? the rounded shape is bang up to date. Despite its soft styling it still looks strong, as a big car should without being overly aggressive. The rear end is square, but the kicked-up flanks look perfect.
Despite being quite light, the 2.8-litre version is certainly no hot rod, with just 174bhp and 185lb ft of torque on offer. The 3.7-litre versions obviously improve substantially on these figures, but add seven and a half grand to the asking price at the same time. The 2.8-litre takes 11 lazy seconds to reach 60mph and the in-gear times are sluggish, too. In the engine?s defence it feels smooth and strong, if not quick-revving. The automatic gearbox is partly to blame. It has no ?sport? mode, and while it swaps ratios smoothly, it often refuses to kick...

Frontera Sport 2.8TDi Diesel
Advantages: Economical, Strong, Cheap & Not Boxy
Disadvantages: it's too clean! it's Green & it's showing it's age!
...Vauxhall wanted to Break into the 4x4 Market, Isuzu wanted more Sales of their Mu/Amigo Range ... Say Hello to the Vauxhall Frontera
The Frontera has been Produced under many Names Mu,Amigo,Rodeo by Vauxhall, Isuzu and Holden to name a few, But essentially it is an Isuzu but Manufactured in Britain by Vauxhall using British Steel with British Labour and a German built Engine, in fact the only Japanese parts are the electrics!
Mine's an N (95/96) Reg, 2.8TDi in Fern Green (yeah, Bright Green :-s).
It is a Short Wheel Base/Sport (SWB) 2 Door Model, so bear with me if I include/miss out things other Frontera Sports have or don't have.
I Chose the Frontera (again) as it was Cheaper and known to me as Capable and it doesn't look as boxy as most 4x4s do these days!
Plus it's relatively easy to get Parts. Not as easy as Land Rover...

Sigma EX DG 70-200mm f2.8 HSM Macro
Advantages: Build quality. Finish. Range. Fast maximum aperture.
Disadvantages: Image quality not as good as expected. Chromatic Aberration.
...removed whenever you choose to use the lens hand-held.
Being an EX DG lens, it is suitable for use on either FF (Full-Frame) or APS-C cropped sensor cameras when it effectively behaves like a 105-300mm f/2.8 (on Nikon APS-C), 112-320mm f/2.8 (on Canon APS-C) or 119-340mm f/2.8 on Sigma DSLR cameras. These make interesting options on the APS-C size sensor cameras and it can be assumed the camera has a completely different set of values when used with such cameras to those when used on full-frame. Interesting?
The fast f/2.8 maximum aperture provides great fun for shallow DOF (depth-of-field) shots where particularly at the 200mm end of the zoom, depth-of-field is excitingly shallow. Whilst the lens is referred to as 'macro' within it's descriptive title, the term is used somewhat loosely. True macro lenses provide genuine 1 to 1 life...

Capri 2.8i rocket
Advantages: A real classic car, cheaper at present
Disadvantages: Rust and boy racers (lol) and Police
...I am a bit bias of these but i will try my best to be fair, honest and proactive in my approach.
Lets get it straight from the start if you require Air con, Rear seat comfort, good mpg, quiet running etc Do Not Buy This Car.
But if you require pure grunt and power this is a must, they made several Capri's and this model was for me 2nd best as 1st place has to go to the Mk 1 RS 3.1 GXL these are the bees knees when it comes to power and head turning, but back to the 2.8, i have had many of these and if you don't mind the sometimes hard wallowy ride then this is for you, the 5spd gearbox model is slightly, very slightly slower than the 4spd Cologne engine version, as most 5spd version were Essex engined machines still beasts in their day but my personal preference is the Cologne.
These cars are not for amature drivers nor are...

Sigma EX 15mm f2.8 Fisheye - A 'Barrel' of Fun!
Advantages: Good performance. Great fun. Good value.
Disadvantages: Limited uses. Canon owners should consider Canon's version.
...I purchased this lens brand new in preference to the Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 fisheye, primarily because I thought it might be a better lens than the now aging Canon version. The Canon lens has not been updated in many years, having been designed originally for 35mm Canon EOS cameras. The Sigma on the other hand, is a more up-to-date design, benefiting from more recent developments in both lens design and technology and 'should' therefore, I would have thought, been a superior offering. I was wrong!
The Sigma is by no means a 'bad' lens, simply not quite as 'good' as the old Canon lens. Very good results are in fact possible but a little work is necessary post production, through image editing software, to get the very best from it. Also, a little aforethought helps when shooting with this lens and some appreciation of both it...

The nikon 70-200mm F2.8 VR, top-of-the-line
Advantages: Beautiful bokeh, tack-sharp, vibration reduction, easy to use, many useful accessories
Disadvantages: heavy, expensive, slight vignetting, prone to flaring
...their version, the so-called "vibration reduction", was the 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 ED. An interesting lens to be sure, but Nikon owners really started to get excited at the announcement of the AF-S 70-200 F2.8 VR. This lens, a successor of a highly regarded line of professional lenses, turned out to be spectacular: the image stabila? sorry, the vibration reduction was possibly even more effective than Canon's and the image quality? Well, I am going to discuss that right now!
---Image quality---
The 70-200 VR is a tack-sharp lens, as you would expect of a lens in this price class. It is not even in the same ballpark as normal consumer lenses: the colours are vibrant, the details sharp, and the bokeh (the appearance of parts of the picture that our out of focus) is stunning. The lens is particularly famous for the silky smooth rendering of out...

Jeep Cherokee 2.8 CRD Ltd (Auto)
Advantages: Has many refinements as standard
Disadvantages: Paintwork is very soft. Diesel is noisy in town driving
...I bought a Jeep 2.8 CRD Ltd after reading a number of reviews in Jan 2007, and now I wish I never had.
Prior to this I had Shoguns and other equivalent 4x4's but fancied a change and went for the Cherokee.
The drive is fine, comfortable and does have many refinements. However I have had a number of teething problems which it has been in and out for to the dealer. Aircon never worked went in for twice - Key continually stuck in the ignition lock and wouldn't come out no matter where you put the automatic box. Often couldn't get it out of park mode even with much pressure on the brakes. Brakes often felt soft and peddle went down on to the floor when stood still - techniciaian came and advised there was a problem - went into the garage where they advised it was normal!!
I bought a black one and would never be so silly again. I...

Mitsubishi Pajero- automatic 2.8 turbodiesel
Advantages: Commanding driving position, Good ride and feeling of safety
Disadvantages: MPG, old fashioned diesel sound
...-base Pajero is available in petrol (3.0 V6, 3.5 V6) and two diesel variants 2.5 and 2.8 litre, a visual difference between the diesels is the air vent on the bonnet is usually only on 2.8litre version.
Spares and repairs
There have been many scare stories about the availability of spares and dealers refusing to work on them. This has allowed the specialist garages to pop-up to do this work and for any concerns that you have, I suggest you look at the World Wide Web and at the various owners clubs to highlight problems. Personally apart from oil, oil and air filters (and a headlight bulb) I have not had to obtain any spares but I?m confident that I will be able to get them either from the dealers, the specialist dealers or scrap yards. You may ask why am I confident, well, money is a powerful weapon and car spares generate lots of income...

Fiat Punto Active Sport 1.2i 8v
Advantages: Great Looks, Low Tax, Cheap Insurance
Disadvantages: Ride Hieght, Slight Roll On Cornering
...Having recently handed my little Saxo over to my little sister for her lessons and run around. Its time to look for a new car, So I came accross a really nice "Fiat Punto Active Sport 1.2i 8v". Read below to find my opinion of this car so far.......
Performance~
This car is awesome on petrol, Obviously depending on the way its driven its averagin about 48ish MPG. ALthough not as responsive as the saxo was and requires higher revs in lower gears to do this, Another slight downside is the ride height and suspension set up as the car feels very high, and also as if it is going to roll when taking corners at speed.
Exterior~
The Active Sport variant of the Punto is in one word "sexy", Its got curves, and straight lines in all the right place. Again a slight draw back is the gap between the top of the wheels and the botton...
