Advantages: Fuel economy, good boot size, roomy for the size Disadvantages: View out of back window when reversing not great
I own a Audi A3 and love it. The drive of this vehicle really make you realise that you are not in a less priced manufacturer. The gear box is smooth to use, the engine humms as you guide the acclerator onto the throttle. The comfortable seating position gives you the satisfaction that the car will make the distance to where ever your heart desires. Even though I would go for the 1.9TDI 130bhp version the 1,8T is nothing to be snifted at. This car ... Read review
Advantages: Good Runner, Excellent Build Quality, Disadvantages: Not so hot acceleration, quite high insurance group
I have owned my Audi A3 1.6 since 2003 and its on an S plate. I managed to pick up an ex courtesy car model from JCT 600 with only 15000 miles on the clock and a few little upgrades from the base model. By far and away this is the smoothest drive i have ever had. Dont get me wrong if you want a car that is like **** of a shovel then go for the S3 (if you can afford it) but for my needs a sedate 1.6 was just fine. The build quality is as you would ......you go to an authorised Audi dealer, but i was in the position that i wasnt looking to swap for at least five years and by that time, even with an audi service history, i wasnt going to get a lot for it, so independant servicing becomes a much cheaper option. Overall if you want a good looking hatch thats reliable fun to drive and as smooth as silk (in my opinion) then this is the one, failing that get a Golf or Seat Leon (all the same floor plan). ... Advantages: Nippy, reliable, comfortable, economical Disadvantages: None
I have just bought an Audi A3 1.9 TDI 5 door sportback and i have to say it is one of the best cars i have ever driven. The sound system is incredible and it is economical on fuel, as i am a community nurse i find it very nippy around town and incredibly comfortable to drive. The car is roomy in both the front and the rear and the boot is very spacious. The steering is very smooth and light and makes the whole driving experience a pleasure. It is ... Read review
Advantages: Well built, resale value Disadvantages: Pathetic engine
...be for the price. Local Audi dealer worse then useless (boys in suits selling products they know nothing about). Huge delay on delivery. Good points: Use of space in the car is spot on for us (excellent boot/rear space balance - shame the rear seats don't fold flat though). Bad points: THE ENGINE THE ENGINE THE ENGINE Noisy (rattles embarassingly loudly - far more noisy than a mate of mine's cheap Renault Kangoo) Economy is poor until it has ......lag is massive and dangerous. Audi claims 0-60 in something like 9 seconds. Feels like 0-10 in 8 seconds and then 10-60 in 1. I can out accelerate it on my bicycle. If you keep it on turbo it drives swiftly (good for country lane motoring and boy racers perhaps). Awful car to drive around town though, heavy, slow, chunky, dangerous: always think twice about pulling out 'sharply'. Because of lack of torque very easy to stall. Wish I'd never bought ... The hunt for the Audi A3 we now own began after we decided the escalating petrol prices were no longer for us. Running a 2.6 V6 tends to get expensive at todays prices. The only replacement to my wifes exceptionally well behaved V6 Vectra had to be an Audi A3. Something small and fun for the adults to drive, but also well behaved, safe and with an air of prestige about it for when the kids are on board. We picked up an 98 (R), one owner, 90k mile ......seats right through to the Audi concert music system along with it's multi disc changer. Materials are excellent and feel solid to touch. Doors "thud" closed reassuringly behind you. And although covering 90k miles our interior still looks factory fresh. What other small hatch with those miles could offer such outstanding build quality and materials. This car really is a true testament to German engineering and their pursuit of uncluttered, stylish ... Read review
