Diamond review  AUDI'D RICHADA RATE THE A4 2.0 TFSI S LINE?

Advantages: Acceleration. Style. Build Quality.
Disadvantages: Power Delivery. Driving Position. Price. Equipment. Soulless. Fuel Consumption.

...THE GARAGE? At 4703mm long and 1826mm wide, unless you have a particularly small one, yes it should indeed fit inside your garage. WHICH SPECIFIC MODEL? At £27,830 (aren?t these modern day ?Cortinas? getting pricy?) and packing 211bhp, the Audi A4 2.0TFSi S Line, that I am reviewing here, is towards the top of a bewilderingly comprehensive range of models. It is the most powerful and expensive four cylinder front wheel drive A4 saloon. The A4 range starts at £20,485 for the 118bhp 1.8TFSi and tops out at a whopping £33,700 for the 237bhp 3.0 TDi Quattro (four wheel drive) Executive S Line. With each engine configuration Audi offer a quattro (four wheel drive) variant ? indeed I will be offering an argument for not offering certain models, the 2.0TFSi included, with only front wheel drive. IN WHAT CAPACITY AM I REVIEWING THIS CAR? This is...

Audi A4 2.0 saloon

Advantages: Quality of construction, good looks
Disadvantages: Small interior, engine lacks low-down torque & power

...The Audi A4 2.0 is a handsome high quality car with a smooth highway ride and generally low noise levels. Interior The interior is snug for 4 occupants although those in the rear seats should not be taller than 1.7M as legroom is limited. The seats are well constructed for comfort but lack sufficient sideways restraint for more enthusiastic cornering. The seat longitudinal adjustment is by lever located on the left, a bar across the front of the seat would be simpler to locate. The rake and height adjustment controls work well. Elegant entry or egress is thwarted by the low roofline that forces passengers to contort somewhat, particularly in the case of rear seat occupants. The drivers door armrest does not have a handle on the inner end making for a long reach when closing a fully opened door. Footwell and pavement...

Audi A4 1.8T S Line 2004

Advantages: Driveability, Good Looks.
Disadvantages: Common Faults (But are not expensive to fix)

...Just upgraded to the Audi A4 1.8T S Line a few weeks ago from my Audi Cab 2.6 V6. I thought I was going to miss the power of the V6, how wrong i was!. The 1.8T with 190bhp is a quick machine and once the turbo kicks in you have hot hatch power in a saloon. These cars are ripe for tuning by way of ECU remapping, air filters, diverter valves and a number of other products which will increase BHP and torque. The S Line trim with the extra body deeper grill, spoiler, wide arches make the car look sporty without going over the top. On the interior the aluminum trimmings along with the half leather sports seat are classy and comfortable for long journeys. The suspension is stiff but solid on country road. Some things that go wrong in this model although these may have been rectified in the 2004 onward models are ignition coil...

Running a Used A4

Advantages: Build quality, reliability, ride & handling, comfort, practicality, fuel consumption.
Disadvantages: Servicing parts/costs

...I purchased my first A4 having previously driven older cars after passing my test. Obviously the A4 was a superior car to these older cars, but having run the car for over 30,000 miles in 2 years I have been very pleased with it. My A4 was a 2001 model 2.0 sport. It was bought from an independent dealer with 72,000 miles recorded at 3 years old. The car had a full service history, although as a fleet car it hadn't enjoyed the care and attention a privately owned car might have. I paid £8,750 for the car, and ran it for just over 2 years as a daily commuting car, with twice-weekly motorway trips. The car has been used on holidays over the UK, and during the summer on a trip to the south of France and back. In all of this time the car has been 100% reliable, and regularly returning close on 40mpg on motorway journeys. It has always...

Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 TDI SE

Advantages: A 5-door premium "mini-estate"
Disadvantages: Cost. It's really just a Golf, buy you pay for the badge...

...companies (all four in a line, in an attempt to avoid confusion with the 5 Olympic rings), and the logo is still used by Audi today. Volkswagen purchased Auto Union in 1964 - they also own Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Seat & Skoda, and, apparently, "Each brand retains its differentiated brand image and operates as an independent entity on the market. Together, the product ranges extend from low-consumption small cars to luxury class vehicles.") The A3 hatchback sits towards the small end of the current Audi range, with the A2 supermini, the soon to be replaced TT coupe (and convertible), the A4 executive saloon (plus "Avant " estate and convertible), A6 "large" executive saloon (and Avant), and A8 "massive" executive saloon ! There's also a "Q7" 4x4 due soon, along with the "Allroad" pumped-up estate... The "Sportback" is the 5-door...

Audi A4 , more like AWWW D A bore

Advantages: Quick , nice door sound , MPG
Disadvantages: Low,unreliable, tiny tiny boot, big little car

...the Audi A4 Avant has done to me its let me down and now all its minor points are building up , uncle Craig is going to get punched. So lets start with the practicality of the car?.Audi call it an Avant because frankly if they called it an estate they would be sued , the boot is tiny . When you look at the actual width of the car its all wheel arches and lowness , hence the internal room feels like a much smaller car , more of a Golf than a large estate , sorry Avant. This cramped layout extents through the whole car, there are no clever pockets or under seat storage, no deep side pockets and laughably only ONE cup holder. How on earth are you supposed to have a nice Latte with your passenger , one of you will have to risk inner thigh burns, and that is not good. The Low door and roof line also pose a problem, as every time you get in...

Review of Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDI

Audi A4

Advantages: Acceleration (V6, S4), Automatic-transmission performance (CVT), Steering/handling, Ride (base suspension), Interior materials, Available AWD
Disadvantages: Rear-seat room

...The vast majority of A4s are sold with quattro. Quattro A4s with 4 cyl and automatic transmission feel slightly underpowered. Manual-transmission quattro 1.8Ts are lively enough, while manual-transmission V6 quattros are satisfyingly quick. Lighter front-drive models feel spry with any transmission, though CVT versions are lazy from a stop. Test 1.8T CVT sedan did 8.6 sec 0-60 mph; test V6 CVT Cabriolet did 7.8. Seamless CVT acts much like conventional automatic, but requires use of manual mode for best performance. Manual transmissions controlled by precise shifters. S4's V8 strong at all speeds; test sedan did 5.6 sec 0-60. Averages for manual-transmission test models: 1.8T sedan, 24.8 mpg; 1.8T Avant, 21.5; V6 quattro sedans,18.3-21; S4 sedan, 15.6; S4 Avant, 15.9; S4 Cabriolet, 14.1. Audi says CVT is 10 percent more fuel efficient...

Audi 80, 2.0E 8 valve 1991

Advantages: Build quality, reliability, fuel economy, performance.
Disadvantages: Difficult to think of any.

...30 mpg in hard use, and over 40 on a run. The accelerator pedel has a 2 stage feel to it , general driving is a free feel up to 1/2 way, pressed further and it feels stiffer and goes like a rocket ! , brakes and steering are also very positive. The cars looks are clean and rounded, understated, less in your face as a BMW equavalent, but just the same build quality. The window glass is of high quality, and tinted blue, the windscreen has a dark blue 4 inch shaded area at the top of the screen It also uses the same engine as fitted to earlier Golf GTi 's .This one had 115 BHP standard. This car is fitted with a catalitic converter, which will rob power, but because of this ones age, it would be possible ( within the law to dump this, and fit a replacement connector piece. This would increase torque and top end ). Servicing the car, I...

Review of Audi 80 2.0

Great Car (but don't mention the ignition coils)

Advantages: Stylish, Robust, Great to Drive
Disadvantages: Noisy, lack of space in rear, ignition coils

...This review relates to an August 2001 Audi A4 2.0 SE Manual (Petrol). General ------- I have owned an Audi A4 2.0 since August 2001 now and feel that I am now able to fairly review this car from the point of view of a longish term driver. I had not owned an Audi before but I chose one because of the Audi reputation for good German engineering and was pleased with it after a test drive. The car looks good, feel solid and drives well - but more about all that below. The A4 positions itself as a competitor to the Mercedes C Class and the BMW 3 Series. It can also be compared with cars like the VW Passat and the Lexus IS200. Model Specification ------------------- At the time of purchase the A4 2.0 came as standard or SE (Special Equipment) models. Then the SE offered the following extras over and above the standard...

Review of Audi A4 2.0

Diamond review  It looks so different to the modern mush

Advantages: Stunning and different looks, involving drive, solid quality, practical size
Disadvantages: Expensive to buy, equiment spec average, poor dealer experiences

...tech business I work in, where the car you drive so often reflects a lot about your work approach and lifestyle. I was lucky enough to test-drive a shortlist of 4 cars all circa the £21-24k price tag before choosing. I tested a Saab 9-3 2.0TD Vector Sport, BMW 1-Series 120d SE, Audi A3 2.0 TDI SE. Overall I loved the Audi A4 Avant and still do, but considering the high cost, image and market expectations of a car like this I feel no shame in being brutal in some aspects of the review. Looks and street cred - First Impressions -------------------------------------------------------- The first thing that captured my attention was the new look front-end to the A4. The deceptively long bonnet with an over-sized front-grill slapped in the middle of cleaner and smoother front bumper than any Audi has seen so far is truly eye catching...
