Lighter front-drive models feel spry with any transmission, though CVT versions are lazy from a stop. Test 1.8T CVT sedan did 8.6 sec 0-60 mph; test V6 CVT Cabriolet did 7.8. Seamless CVT acts much like conventional automatic, but requires use of manual mode for best performance. Manual transmissions controlled by precise shifters. Audi A4 , more like AWWW D A bore

Advantages: Quick , nice door sound , MPG
Disadvantages: Low,unreliable, tiny tiny boot, big little car

The MPG is astonishing, and I can get what equates to 50 Mpg if you drive it like a Vicar , the problem is the A4 likes to be driven hard and fast rather like Vicars wives, but even when you are thrashing around like MK2 Escort on a bleak northern estate with your techno hard house banging out from your tinted windows and grounding out on every speed bump , you still get 40 mpg + . Another positive feature, and one which probably reflects on my own sad existence is the doors also make a lovely clonk sound, the noise which other countries vehicles don't seem to make , and the internal build quality is pretty good. It all feels solid and most importantly reliable . Audi A4 Cabriolet - 3 years experiences

Advantages: Terrific 'build quality', image
Disadvantages: Actual build quality, ride, seats, dealer, importer

...this the car was less than a paradigm of virtue. All four tyres were illegal at 10,000 miles, various front and rear suspension components were required to pass its first MoT test (less than 20,000 miles !) and the front discs and pads were changed before 20,000 miles arrived - don't ask about the cost as brakes are excluded from Audi's warranty ! From 20,000 miles to 22,000 miles, the car cost just under £2,000 in service costs - and was just weeks outside its warranty. The attitude of Audi UK was - so what ? The MD of the local chain (Smith Knight Fay) never bothered to reply to letters, could not even manage a phone call, and the local dealer principal was a study in 'used-car-dealership'. He even told me, face to face, that 'If this was my wife's car, I'd be really annoyed at such costs and unreliability' - but then (of course...

No I won't get rid of it!

Advantages: Too many to list !
Disadvantages: No Split rear seat as standard

.... This is due to the way the management system works, and the low maintenance engine. I find I use 1 litre of oil every 2 months (this is normal I queried it with Audi UK) I always have it serviced at my local Audi dealer, they even changed the gear knob, "because it moved a little" (I thought it was meant to do it!!) In summary, a really impressive car, and I will certainly get another when I wear this one out! (which as I love it so much will not be too long!!) Thanks for reading this (or re-reading it!) The Fast and the Economical

Advantages: Great Look, Speedy, Great Fuel Consumption, Sporty Feel, Nice Interior
Disadvantages: Colour Coded Bumpers aren't standard

Spaciousness = 7/10 Although the front of this car is extremly spacious the back of the car is a bit confined and I found that with the front seats fully back you cannet sit that comfortably but the room is still acceptable. Comfort = 10/10 = The comfort in this car along with lots of other audis is ver good indeed, all the seats whether they are cloth or leather are very comfortable and very hard wearing and soft. Audi A4: Are you a 'Compact Executive'

Advantages: The neighbours think you have gone up in the world
Disadvantages: Noisy, cramped and it doesn't like corners

...are used to a petrol engine or a smaller diesel. It's not a match for the next generation diesels such as the 2.0TDi in the newer A4s or the TDCi Mondeo. Its not quiet either, but it is impressively economical - 45mpg is easily achievable on every journey, 50mpg is more the norm for a long distance cruise and even 60mpg is not out of the question if you drive very carefully. The tank is huge too, so with 600 plus miles between fill-ups, it feels even more economical than it really is. The handling is a bit sloppy with lots of understeer even at lower speeds. It does not feel reassuring although it never got me into trouble. The ESP is a must as the front tyres squirm as the turbo kicks in, even in the higher gears. The interior is a bit dull but faultless in terms of quality. The doors close with a reassuring thud and switches operate...

Land Rover Discovery 2.5TDi 2003

Advantages: Built like a brick **** house
Disadvantages: Badly designed instrument layout

...I have owned a Discovery 2.5TDi from new since 2003 and consider now that I have enough experience to comment fairly on it. Good points 1. Excellent work horse. Can tow all day without noticing the load 2. Very comfortable and excellent seat movement 3. Makes you feel safe and secure Bad points 1. Very poorly designed dashboard layout. Most displays hidden by the steering wheel 2. Very badly positioned switches for electronic seat controls. You have to have needle thin hands and be a contortionist to use them 3. Poor electrics (especially the sun roof which has a mind of its own). and the worlds worst SAT Nav. You can buy a top of the range Garmin for less than the disc upgrade. Despite this we love it warts and all....

Audi A4 1.8T S Line 2004

Advantages: Driveability, Good Looks.
Disadvantages: Common Faults (But are not expensive to fix)

...Just upgraded to the Audi A4 1.8T S Line a few weeks ago from my Audi Cab 2.6 V6. I thought I was going to miss the power of the V6, how wrong i was!. The 1.8T with 190bhp is a quick machine and once the turbo kicks in you have hot hatch power in a saloon. These cars are ripe for tuning by way of ECU remapping, air filters, diverter valves and a number of other products which will increase BHP and torque. The S Line trim with the extra body deeper grill, spoiler, wide arches make the car look sporty without going over the top. On the interior the aluminum trimmings along with the half leather sports seat are classy and comfortable for long journeys. The suspension is stiff but solid on country road. Some things that go wrong in this model although these may have been rectified in the 2004 onward models are ignition coil...

AWESOME AUDI A6

Advantages: excellent build quality, German Precision engineering, great looks, Brilliant

...go to work a bit more enjoyable. The cabin seats 5 people very easily and the boot space is massive and can easily fit all my girlfriends wardrobe in it for those weekend breaks !!!! I am getting 47mpg as an average fuel fuel consumption which is very good, servicing is reasonable as long as you dont take it to a Audi garage, and due to the reliability of Audi I am hoping nothing serious will go wrong too soon, but if it does I have the 1 year warranty to fall back on.
