AUDI'D RICHADA RATE THE A4 2.0 TFSI S LINE?
Advantages: Acceleration. Style. Build Quality.
Disadvantages: Power Delivery. Driving Position. Price. Equipment. Soulless. Fuel Consumption.
...THE GARAGE?
At 4703mm long and 1826mm wide, unless you have a particularly small one, yes it should indeed fit inside your garage.
WHICH SPECIFIC MODEL?
At £27,830 (aren?t these modern day ?Cortinas? getting pricy?) and packing 211bhp, the Audi A4 2.0TFSi S Line, that I am reviewing here, is towards the top of a bewilderingly comprehensive range of models. It is the most powerful and expensive four cylinder front wheel drive A4 saloon.
The A4 range starts at £20,485 for the 118bhp 1.8TFSi and tops out at a whopping £33,700 for the 237bhp 3.0 TDi Quattro (four wheel drive) Executive S Line. With each engine configuration Audi offer a quattro (four wheel drive) variant ? indeed I will be offering an argument for not offering certain models, the 2.0TFSi included, with only front wheel drive.
IN WHAT CAPACITY AM I REVIEWING THIS CAR?
This is...

Audi A4 1.8T S Line 2004
Advantages: Driveability, Good Looks.
Disadvantages: Common Faults (But are not expensive to fix)
...Just upgraded to the Audi A4 1.8T S Line a few weeks ago from my Audi Cab 2.6 V6. I thought I was going to miss the power of the V6, how wrong i was!. The 1.8T with 190bhp is a quick machine and once the turbo kicks in you have hot hatch power in a saloon.
These cars are ripe for tuning by way of ECU remapping, air filters, diverter valves and a number of other products which will increase BHP and torque.
The S Line trim with the extra body deeper grill, spoiler, wide arches make the car look sporty without going over the top. On the interior the aluminum trimmings along with the half leather sports seat are classy and comfortable for long journeys.
The suspension is stiff but solid on country road.
Some things that go wrong in this model although these may have been rectified in the 2004 onward models are ignition coil...

Audi A4 Avant Turbo Sport
Advantages: Build Quality, Performance, Style.
Disadvantages: Cost, Handling at very high speeds
...cars. OK, so it is expensive, but it is worth it. We have two Audi's in the household, and I don't think we will ever regret it! Oh, and yes the handles above the seats are oil-dampened!...

Audi A4 , more like AWWW D A bore
Advantages: Quick , nice door sound , MPG
Disadvantages: Low,unreliable, tiny tiny boot, big little car
...the Audi A4 Avant has done to me its let me down and now all its minor points are building up , uncle Craig is going to get punched.
So lets start with the practicality of the car?.Audi call it an Avant because frankly if they called it an estate they would be sued , the boot is tiny . When you look at the actual width of the car its all wheel arches and lowness , hence the internal room feels like a much smaller car , more of a Golf than a large estate , sorry Avant. This cramped layout extents through the whole car, there are no clever pockets or under seat storage, no deep side pockets and laughably only ONE cup holder. How on earth are you supposed to have a nice Latte with your passenger , one of you will have to risk inner thigh burns, and that is not good. The Low door and roof line also pose a problem, as every time you get in...

Audi A4: Are you a 'Compact Executive'
Advantages: The neighbours think you have gone up in the world
Disadvantages: Noisy, cramped and it doesn't like corners
...with a nicely tactile "click"... it's a shame that they look and feel like they come from a 1990s Golf.
Overall I liked the car. Mine was provided by my employer as an interim vehicle; whether I would be prepared to shell out the best part of £22k for one is another question. The neighbours certainly thought I had gone up in the world but I was counting the days until the replacement arrived. And that's the thing about the A4: it's not as good as many cars much cheaper, but it does come with an Audi badge on the front....

Audi A4
Advantages: Acceleration (V6, S4), Automatic-transmission performance (CVT), Steering/handling, Ride (base suspension), Interior materials, Available AWD
Disadvantages: Rear-seat room
...The vast majority of A4s are sold with quattro. Quattro A4s with 4 cyl and automatic transmission feel slightly underpowered. Manual-transmission quattro 1.8Ts are lively enough, while manual-transmission V6 quattros are satisfyingly quick. Lighter front-drive models feel spry with any transmission, though CVT versions are lazy from a stop. Test 1.8T CVT sedan did 8.6 sec 0-60 mph; test V6 CVT Cabriolet did 7.8. Seamless CVT acts much like conventional automatic, but requires use of manual mode for best performance. Manual transmissions controlled by precise shifters. S4's V8 strong at all speeds; test sedan did 5.6 sec 0-60.
Averages for manual-transmission test models: 1.8T sedan, 24.8 mpg; 1.8T Avant, 21.5; V6 quattro sedans,18.3-21; S4 sedan, 15.6; S4 Avant, 15.9; S4 Cabriolet, 14.1. Audi says CVT is 10 percent more fuel efficient...

Running a used A4 3.0 Quattro Saloon
Advantages: Performance, Build Quality, Reliability, and Practicality.
Disadvantages: Running costs may not suit all people.
...This is my second Audi A4, and I bought it on the strength of my experiences with my previous A4. My car is a 2002 model 3.0 Quattro Sport with the 6 speed manual ?box.
I bought this car used with 55,000 miles on the clock 6 months ago, replacing my previous car, which had covered 107,000 miles. The key strengths of this car are much the same as the previous car, namely: Reliability, Build quality, Comfort, Practicality, and Driving Involvement.
I bought this car, as I also wanted more performance, as well as a newer car with lower mileage. The 3.0 6-cylinder engine is wonderfully smooth and quiet in general driving, while under harder acceleration it provides a suitably sporting growl. The six-speed ?box doesn?t rev any lower in top gear than my 2.0?s 5 speed, but the closer ratios make it extremely flexible for open road/A road...

They should get an award 4 it
Advantages: A very solid, stylish and classy car
Disadvantages: A bit sluggish and impractical
...In the car market there is no prejudice. Car journalists don't immediately think a BMW will be good just because of the badge. But out of the car market, there are a few names, which stand out. Some good, some bad. Lada for instance isn't a good one. But a good name is Ferrari, BMW, Jaguar and Audi.
Oh yes, Audi have been one of the most renowned manufacturers in the world now. But it wasn't always that way...
Audi are the newest of the 3 big German brands - BMW and Mercades-Benz - and it took them till the 90's to hit the big time. Sure the Quattro got them noticed in the 80's but as far as mainstream models went, it wasn't till the 'A' range was launched in 1995, that Audi was a household name. The A4 model hit the streets in 1995 and took the renowned BMW 3-Series to the cleaners and back. The A8 'all-aluminium' saloon...

It looks so different to the modern mush
Advantages: Stunning and different looks, involving drive, solid quality, practical size
Disadvantages: Expensive to buy, equiment spec average, poor dealer experiences
...Introduction
----------------
I've had my Audi A4 Avant for just 6 months but having covered over 15,000 miles during this period I've built up a comprehensive opinion of this car that I'd love to share with anybody thinking of buying an A4. Everybody has different needs from their car, so I've approached this review by explaining what my needs are before giving my view on how well it achieves.
This is a company car, but is mine for 3 years so the choice was made with as much attention as buying the car myself. I needed a car to fulfil primarily long distance work travelling for myself, a car that will also carry my young children with plenty of space for shopping, luggage and other odd sized kid items such as bikes and buggies. I also wanted a car to be proud of with distinguished looks, pedigree and style to compliment to high...

Audi A4 1.8SE Auto 4 Door
Advantages: Ride, Build Quality, Image, Looks, Equipment
Disadvantages: Rear Legroom, Running costs, Dull Handling
...Here's my first ever review (again - sorry for posting it in the wrong section before!)
I've had my 1998 Audi A4 1.8SE Auto 4 door for 4 months now and it still puts a smile on my face. Whether it's the solid 'thunk' of the doors closing, or the gorgeous tone of the superb 'Concert' stereo, the Audi continues to be a car I will never regret buying.
I purchased privately from a family who had cherished the car - it came in superb condition, with low mileage, and a full Audi service history. The light green (Jasper Green) really looks great when I've thrown the sponge on it, and the standard 16" alloys do a good job of setting the car off.
It's by no means a perfect car though. The rear legroom is really poor, and the boot openning isn't too clever either - I'd have had an Avant if I could have afforded one. The handling is...
