Audi A4 1.8T S Line 2004
Advantages: Driveability, Good Looks.
Disadvantages: Common Faults (But are not expensive to fix)
...Just upgraded to the Audi A4 1.8T S Line a few weeks ago from my Audi Cab 2.6 V6. I thought I was going to miss the power of the V6, how wrong i was!. The 1.8T with 190bhp is a quick machine and once the turbo kicks in you have hot hatch power in a saloon.
These cars are ripe for tuning by way of ECU remapping, air filters, diverter valves and a number of other products which will increase BHP and torque.
The S Line trim with the extra body deeper grill, spoiler, wide arches make the car look sporty without going over the top. On the interior the aluminum trimmings along with the half leather sports seat are classy and comfortable for long journeys.
The suspension is stiff but solid on country road.
Some things that go wrong in this model although these may have been rectified in the 2004 onward models are ignition coil...

New Model A4 1.8T
Advantages: Looks, performance, price
Disadvantages: ummm, nope, still can't think of any
...Thought it was time for an update seeing as I've had the car for over 6 months...
I'd always had a thing about Audis, I'd love an S6 but the budget won't stretch, so the A4 was an obvious choice. Looking at the range I had the choice of the entry-level 2.0 of the 1.8T in either 2 wheel drive or Quattro. Comparing the performance the 2.0 pushes out 130bhp with the 1.8T raising this to 150bhp, simple choice then. Comparing this with the 3 series, the 318 offers only 112bhp, with the 320 jumping upto 170bhp, though the new model increases capacity to 2.3 litres. After test driving both variants I decided on the 2 wheel drive, though the brochure gives the same 8.4sec 0-60 time, the 2 wheel drive seems quicker, probably as the Quattro has the power being put out to all 4 wheels. I must say though that the Quattro definitely has the edge...

Audi A4
Advantages: Acceleration (V6, S4), Automatic-transmission performance (CVT), Steering/handling, Ride (base suspension), Interior materials, Available AWD
Disadvantages: Rear-seat room
...The vast majority of A4s are sold with quattro. Quattro A4s with 4 cyl and automatic transmission feel slightly underpowered. Manual-transmission quattro 1.8Ts are lively enough, while manual-transmission V6 quattros are satisfyingly quick. Lighter front-drive models feel spry with any transmission, though CVT versions are lazy from a stop. Test 1.8T CVT sedan did 8.6 sec 0-60 mph; test V6 CVT Cabriolet did 7.8. Seamless CVT acts much like conventional automatic, but requires use of manual mode for best performance. Manual transmissions controlled by precise shifters. S4's V8 strong at all speeds; test sedan did 5.6 sec 0-60.
Averages for manual-transmission test models: 1.8T sedan, 24.8 mpg; 1.8T Avant, 21.5; V6 quattro sedans,18.3-21; S4 sedan, 15.6; S4 Avant, 15.9; S4 Cabriolet, 14.1. Audi says CVT is 10 percent more fuel efficient...

Versitile A4
Advantages: Looks, Beautiful Engine, Value for money, Excellent chassis
Disadvantages: Rear leg room
...The A4 looks sleek, sporting and yet solid. Its small headlamps and large grille give the front a slightly aggressive look, while the rear is tight and compact.
I?ve had my A4 for 16 months now and covered 25,000 miles of varying journeys from the 3,000 mile trip down to the South of France to the trip to the shops around the corner, and I?m still very happy with it.
The brakes are strong, even if their abruptness takes some getting used to. The slick gearshift makes you want to swap cogs just for the hell of it, the brakes have that reassuring Germanic efficiency while the well-sorted suspension handles bends with ease and cushions the bumps? even when these happen to come along at the same moment.
The 1,800cc turbo-charged engine can be very frugal if driven correctly; I achieved over 45 mpg on several tank fulls while...

Audi A3 1.8 T Quattro
Advantages: Great build quality, lots of toys, pretty nippy and a name you can trust.
Disadvantages: Fuel consumption, fault on stereo and uncomfortable on really long journeys.
...with different road types (from motorway to twisty B roads) the average I got was around 25.8 mpg so it can become a little expensive!
Also you need to watch out for a fault with the music system. When the car is cold the volume control does not work properly and is either extremely quiet or REALLY loud! This is a fault on all the systems but it does stop within about 20 minutes of driving the car.
Overall, I would have to say the audi is a good car that I would definately reccomend to buy as long as your not doing long commutes in it! Very fun to drive and a beautiful cabin to sit in combined with the 4 wheel drive system and brilliant build quality you really can't go far wrong with this car....

Audi A4 Avant Turbo Sport
Advantages: Build Quality, Performance, Style.
Disadvantages: Cost, Handling at very high speeds
...cars. OK, so it is expensive, but it is worth it. We have two Audi's in the household, and I don't think we will ever regret it! Oh, and yes the handles above the seats are oil-dampened!...

AUDI'D RICHADA RATE THE A4 2.0 TFSI S LINE?
Advantages: Acceleration. Style. Build Quality.
Disadvantages: Power Delivery. Driving Position. Price. Equipment. Soulless. Fuel Consumption.
...THE GARAGE?
At 4703mm long and 1826mm wide, unless you have a particularly small one, yes it should indeed fit inside your garage.
WHICH SPECIFIC MODEL?
At £27,830 (aren?t these modern day ?Cortinas? getting pricy?) and packing 211bhp, the Audi A4 2.0TFSi S Line, that I am reviewing here, is towards the top of a bewilderingly comprehensive range of models. It is the most powerful and expensive four cylinder front wheel drive A4 saloon.
The A4 range starts at £20,485 for the 118bhp 1.8TFSi and tops out at a whopping £33,700 for the 237bhp 3.0 TDi Quattro (four wheel drive) Executive S Line. With each engine configuration Audi offer a quattro (four wheel drive) variant ? indeed I will be offering an argument for not offering certain models, the 2.0TFSi included, with only front wheel drive.
IN WHAT CAPACITY AM I REVIEWING THIS CAR?
This is...

Audi A4 Cabriolet - 3 years experiences
Advantages: Terrific 'build quality', image
Disadvantages: Actual build quality, ride, seats, dealer, importer
...points - looks good; image is great; stiff body with little scuttle shake; excellent heater / air con controls which allow 2 independent settings (hood up / down); apparent build quality is first class; engine is wonderful - so much torque, economical, creamy smooth, one of the best-ever engines in its class. We now have an AMG Mercedes supercharged 2 litre - same HP as Audi, but not enough torque to pull the skin off a small rice pudding !
Audi bad points - dealers don't care about after sales service; car is poorly engineered & built - cannot manage a 1st MoT and 20,000 miles without a rebuilt brake and suspension system; it eats tyres - no more than 10,000 miles per set; ride is atrocious; seats are uncomfortable; electric seat option is dreadful - slow, and no memory facility is available; the CVT gearbox is a joke - it likes to...

Buying a USED A3 1.8T
Advantages: Reliability, quality of build, performance
Disadvantages: Costly servicing, fuel economy low if pushed
...In March of 2004 I purchased a three year old, Y-reg Audi A3 1.8 Turbo-sport three door.
The first thing that struck me with this car was the build quality and feeling of being in a very solid car. Despite being a smaller-sized hatch, this car has a surprisingly large amount of front space and a boot that could swallow whole families. Yes, the rear seats do have less leg room than you would expect in a car of this size, but the front sports seats cause this. In the non-sport model, the standard seats do allow for exra legs in the rear. The boot can comfortably hold three sets of golf clubs and if I collapse one side of the 2/3 split rear seats, six can easliy be squeezed in.
The interior trim is fantastic, despite being three years old, this car doesn't possess a single rattle or knock from any corner or orifice. My model has...

Cute scoot
Advantages: pretty smart
Disadvantages: pretty expensive
...turns out that you can have no less than 5 different engines and three different gearboxes in the A4 Cab. As if that wasn?t enough, the car can be had with option of two or four-wheel drive (Audi?s famous Quattro) and there are no less than 13 different alloy wheel patterns, 17 external colours, 15 interior trims and 7 trim inlay variations. And we haven?t even started on the optional extras yet! You begin to wonder if they?ve ever built two the same.
The big question is which engine to have? Hmmm. Here?s what you get; 163ps in the 1.8T, 170ps in the 2.3 (why did they bother?) 163ps in the diesel, 220ps in the 3.0 and a whopping 344ps in the V8 powered S4, which just happens to be exactly one horsepower more than BMW?s M3 ? Vorsprung durch technik as they say in Germany, which roughly translated means, ?Up yours BMW?
Of course...
