At £27,830 (aren?t these modern day ?Cortinas? getting pricy?) and packing 211bhp, the Audi A4 2.0TFSi S Line, that I am reviewing here, is towards the top of a bewilderingly comprehensive range of models. It is the most powerful and expensive four cylinder front wheel drive A4 saloon. The A4 range starts at £20,485 for the 118bhp 1.8TFSi and tops out at a whopping £33,700 for the 237bhp 3.0 TDi Quattro (four wheel drive) Executive S Line. Audi A4 1.8T S Line 2004

Advantages: Driveability, Good Looks.
Disadvantages: Common Faults (But are not expensive to fix)

...Just upgraded to the Audi A4 1.8T S Line a few weeks ago from my Audi Cab 2.6 V6. I thought I was going to miss the power of the V6, how wrong i was!. The 1.8T with 190bhp is a quick machine and once the turbo kicks in you have hot hatch power in a saloon. These cars are ripe for tuning by way of ECU remapping, air filters, diverter valves and a number of other products which will increase BHP and torque. The S Line trim with the extra body deeper grill, spoiler, wide arches make the car look sporty without going over the top. On the interior the aluminum trimmings along with the half leather sports seat are classy and comfortable for long journeys. The suspension is stiff but solid on country road. Some things that go wrong in this model although these may have been rectified in the 2004 onward models are ignition coil...

...than conventional automatic transmission. With CVT, test 1.8T sedans averaged 20.9-23.9 mpg, test Cabriolets 19.8-20.7. Test V6 CVT sedan averaged 25.6 mpg. No opportunity to test with conventional automatic transmission. Audi recommends premium-grade fuel for all A4s. Standard suspension furnishes firm control, good bump absorption on most any surface. Stiffer Sport Package setup with low-profile 17-inch tires somewhat less forgiving on broken pavement. S4 quite stiff, but not harsh; impressive high-speed stabiity. Audi A4 , more like AWWW D A bore

Advantages: Quick , nice door sound , MPG
Disadvantages: Low,unreliable, tiny tiny boot, big little car

...the Audi A4 Avant has done to me its let me down and now all its minor points are building up , uncle Craig is going to get punched. So lets start with the practicality of the car?.Audi call it an Avant because frankly if they called it an estate they would be sued , the boot is tiny . When you look at the actual width of the car its all wheel arches and lowness , hence the internal room feels like a much smaller car , more of a Golf than a large estate , sorry Avant. This cramped layout extents through the whole car, there are no clever pockets or under seat storage, no deep side pockets and laughably only ONE cup holder. How on earth are you supposed to have a nice Latte with your passenger , one of you will have to risk inner thigh burns, and that is not good. The A4 just emits class and opulence like a heater emits heat. The compact saloon body is smooth and all flows well together. Review of Audi A4 1.6 S Line 4dr

Audi S3

Advantages: Fast, sporty but subtle, great handling
Disadvantages: Fuel economy, lots of abused cars out there

...I own a 2002 S3 225bhp. In a few words - fast, good mid range torque, sporty look without having the boy racer look. It's a classy car which is quicker than most on the road. The only down points, and this is being picky is the fuel economy, noticeable turbo lag (especially when more than 2 people in the car) and the high service costs if you take it to audi. I take it to a vw-audi specialist though and they're fine. Prices are good now and i would recommend a fully loaded one - at least try for cruise and bose. I have sat nav too which is worth it. I don't have chrome mirrors and wouldn't at the price quoted for the originals - plus slightly tacky looking as there are a number of fake S3s out there with the cheap plastic chrome looking mirrors. Also I would prefer full leathers as the suedes get a bit worn on the drivers...

Audi A4: Are you a 'Compact Executive'

Advantages: The neighbours think you have gone up in the world
Disadvantages: Noisy, cramped and it doesn't like corners

...with a nicely tactile "click"... it's a shame that they look and feel like they come from a 1990s Golf. Overall I liked the car. Mine was provided by my employer as an interim vehicle; whether I would be prepared to shell out the best part of £22k for one is another question. The neighbours certainly thought I had gone up in the world but I was counting the days until the replacement arrived. And that's the thing about the A4: it's not as good as many cars much cheaper, but it does come with an Audi badge on the front....

Audi A4 2.0 saloon

Disadvantages: Small interior, engine lacks low-down torque & power

...light switches reflect in the rear view mirror Heating and ventilation Heating and ventilation are fine both the front & rear seat passengers. The climate control works well but the cabin air filter appears to loose effectiveness after just one good dose of diesel fumes, perhaps the filter element must be changed very often. Exterior and lights The paint finish is excellent and appears to resist stone chips. Doors and boot lid close solidly and joint lines are very tight. The headlights produce good high beam and well defined dimmed lighting. The mirrors are just large enough to provide the information required. The rear lights are large and clear. The front apron can catch on dips if one is not cautious. The curved exterior does not aid reversing the Audi A4, but in this regard the previous model (Audi 80) was even worse...

Audi s3 2001

Advantages: excellent solid package with lots of credability
Disadvantages: mabye not wild enough for some

...I bought my audi s3 in january, so after 6 months of ownership I`d thought I would write a review. Cost of the s3 was expensive compared to most other hot hatches I paid £13k for a 2001 with 34,000 miles with full service history. Options wise the list is almost endless you can have the usual metallic paint, leather, sunroof, armrest. The s3 options are chrome mirror covers and lower side mouldings, Bose stereo upgrade heated seats, sat nav and cd changer in the boot. Mine is metallic grey with full heated leather, sunroof, Bose stereo upgrade which I love Tip- hold out for the car you really want and be prepared to wait to find the right one, theres no point settling for something you didn`t want! I have just taken it in for a service at Audi it needed the full one at 36k with a bit of negotiation I managed to get it...
