...Audi?s aluminum A8 is a handsome beast. There?s nothing retro or classic about it ? the rounded shape is bang up to date. Despite its soft styling it still looks strong, as a big car should without being overly aggressive. The rear end is square, but the kicked-up flanks look perfect. Despite being quite light, the 2.8-litre version is certainly no hot rod, with just 174bhp and 185lb ft of torque on offer. The 3.7-litre versions obviously improve substantially on these figures, but add seven and a half grand to the asking price at the same time. The 2.8-litre takes 11 lazy seconds to reach 60mph and the in-gear times are sluggish, too. In the engine?s defence it feels smooth and strong, if not quick-revving. Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 TDI SE

Advantages: A 5-door premium "mini-estate"
Disadvantages: Cost. It's really just a Golf, buy you pay for the badge...

...Last week (a fairly reasonable 9 weeks from placing the order) we took delivery of our brand new Audi A3 Sportback SE 2.0 TDI, to replace my Mercedes CLK (check out my other reviews), a splendid car but really not a suitable family-mobile... I know I've not had the car very long, so maybe am not in a fantastic position to give a full review, but as no-one else has reviewed this car on Ciao (yet), I wanted to make this information available to you all. Disadvantages: i dont know of any!!

...on the ground (dont know what the point of this is, but it looks great!) The same opens when you open the boot. On our Audi we have pepperpot 17" alloys, they look great too! I must say, there is nothing i dont like about this car!...

When I get me Audi out on the road

...Now please don't quote me on this, but I just nipped over to the Audi web site -- http://www.audi.co.uk/newcars/range.jsp?section=/models/a6saloon/a6saloon -- to do a quick bit of research for this review and it looks pretty definite to me that they are no longer doing a 1.9 TDI version of the Audi A6 saloon. They are doing a 2.4 SE manual, a 2.4 SE multitronic, a 3.2 FSI SE manual, a 3.2 FSI quattro SE manual, a 3.2 FSI quattro SE tiptonic, a 4.2 quattro SE tiptronic, a 2.0 TDI SE manual and a 3.0 TDI quattro SE tiptronic, but look, there ain't a 1.9 SE TDI anymore. Lovely Audi A2

Advantages: Quality, great to drive
Disadvantages: No diesel automatic

...I needed to get a car as I wanted to get a bit more independence with an imminent baby. I ideally wanted a diesel automatic car as I like automatics, but couldn't find anything I liked as much as this very funky Audi A2, so I compromised on the automatic aspect, reckoning that I'd rather save some money on the fuel economy (and the road tax - a surprisingly refreshing 35 quid a year - bargain!). I also liked the relatively low emissions. I wanted something small, pretty cheap to run and very easy to drive, but also wanted the car to be a bit different. Since then I seem to see A2s everywhere, but I think that might just be because I'm noticing them more now! Advantages: Peppy, fun and practical.
Disadvantages: stock tires, weird armrest/handbrake ergonomics, rear window buffeting

...I bought my A3 about 4 weeks after they were released in the US. I've now got almost 20,000 miles on it and have enjoyed every mile. I have a 60 mile daily commute, which is a good combination of open and mountainous freeway driving. The A3 is amazing uphill. The new Audi 4-cyl 2.0 Turbo combined with the 6 speed DSG doesn't even stutter when traveling up the 2 mile 3% grade I drive daily. I've got to watch myself to keep myself from doing 90 mph up it. I cannot imagine what the new S-line version will be like with the larger V6 engine and quattro. For those of you that don't know what DSG is, it stands for Dual Shift Gearbox. DSG is basically a semi-automatic transmission that uses two clutches instead of one - which the end result is faster and smoother shifting. Audi A3 blows away Golf and 1 Series

Advantages: Super looks, great build quality

I could leave it there, but audi currently i believe lead the german luxury car market, the A3's competitors are the VW Golf and the BMW 1 series, this mercedes currently not offering a sporty hatchback. The golf firstly won't give you the same luxury that the A3 will which justifies it being £6000 cheaper, and the 1 series will give you the luxury at a slightly most expensive price and without the sporty looks of the A3. The A3 in fact runs over the other two in the looks department, with audi's signature large grill, it looks like a beast and is one, the S-line will offer you even better sporty look with nicer trim without having to fork out for the S3. The S-line is basically an option that gives in an enhanced sporty look almost as good as the S3 and the S-line option is available in the 5-door option...

...Audi A Bore Being a company car driver often slants the way you review a car, the assumption is always that its free and so why should you complain about getting to drive what in many peoples eyes is a "flash motor". But you could also look on it as a extreme ageing test, 40000 miles on one year certainly starts to show the Skoda credentials hidden below the Audi Badge, and this accelerated ageing process also finds the cracks that the BoTox of self ownership hides. If you spent £24000 on your own car you would practise a process called positive reinforcement, it's the marketing equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting LalA LA I cant hear you, after all if it was your money you would try and find the good things about the Audi .
