There are plenty of storage spaces in the front, with under-seat drawers, door bins that expand outwards, and room in the armrest. Ride comfort and handling could do with improvement, there is a lot of body roll and under-steer through corners and big bumps are not soaked up quite as well as you might expect. Standard equipment for the SE trim level is reasonable, with climate control, cruise control, electric windows front & back, CD player, and electric seat height adjustment. Reliability is, as you would expect from an Audi, excellent. My car has done over 100,000 miles and the engine is probably as quiet as the day it left the factory. Audi A4 , more like AWWW D A bore

...this review is so horrible to Audi. So lets get the good things out the way first , this model Is fast and it holds the road rather well, it's a high end go-kart , before I drove the Audi Diesel I always assumed that only 3 people drove diesel, Gypsies , Farmers and all of France . They were dirty, Slow and cattery and so were the cars they drove . But this thing is quite and fast , and no longer do simple village children run up to you and try to buy a Ice cream off you when you stop at the lights. It also looks good for an estate , or should I say Avant, its poised to drive rather than carry a coffin. Its also a easy car to drive, the controls are all logical ( that's because there are not many ) the gear change is positive and all the pedals are well positioned, it's a car designed to be driven, but not very comfortably...

I wanted something reliable, comfortable and easy to drive with a bit of 'Umpff' as well. Audi A4: Are you a 'Compact Executive'

Disadvantages: Noisy, cramped and it doesn't like corners

...The A4 Avant can be characterised as a strange mix of opposites: great to look at, but not to to drive; big on the outside, cramped on the inside, stylish yet dull. If you want a load-lugging estate car, the A4 is not for you. In fact, if you want a family car then the A4 is probably not the car for you either. The interior and boot could not be described as spacious - front seat occupants are likely to clash elbows and knock their knees on the centre console, rear seat passengers have their knees around their ears, and the boot is no more practical than on the saloon version. Just about everyone I've spoken to complains about backache. Along with the backache, I got cramp in the left (clutch) leg from having the seat too far back just so as I could avoid the centre console... Audi after sales service

...I am experiencing a very poor customer service. A year ago I purchased a A4 TDI Avant from John Fox Audi in Nottingham (now part of Synter) with a FSH and extended warranty for 1 year. At the time of purchase the car had covered 67,000 miles. Two weeks ago the car developed a gearbox fault with was related to the gearboxs ECU unit and input shaft. The dealer Sytner Audi in Slough said no problem - warranty will cover. It now transpires that the gearbox oil was not changed at 40 - 42,000 miles or rather there is no record of it being changed. Audi's warranty department claim its the dealer fault, Sytner Slough say its Nottingham's fault and the Warranty departments. Audi Customer Service Department claim it is Nottingham's fault. Nottingham claim it is Peterborough's fault for not having any records, and yes I'm sat in the middle...

...S G Smith Audi (BR3 3BT) and Bromley Audi servicing (Tylney Road BR2) - I strongly urge you to avoid both to save yourself a huge amount of money. My 2001 Audi A4 Avant now needs its 3rd clutch and the car has not even done 60,000 miles. Audi even had the temerity to criticise 'driving style', when my wife and I have been driving for well over 40 years betwen us and none of our previous cars (VW, Fiat and BMW) have ever needed new clutches; total and very expensive crap, quite apart from these cars burning oil like others use petrol. Choose any other make of car and avoid this dealership. Even in credit crunch times, they seem oblivious to the idea of keeping their customers happy....

...Audi seem to be getting a bit of a kicking on here so, in the interests of balance, I wanted to say I've just got my car back from Swindon Audi after having an MOT and an airbag fault investigation. As usual, the staff at Swindon Audi have been friendly, polite and efficient throughout. My car was collected at 0800 hrs, as arranged. The work was done within the expected time frame, and it was delivered back to me about an hour ago, having been washed and vacuumed. My car is 7 years old now and I could probably save money by taking it elsewhere for servicing and maintenance, but I am very happy with the service I've received from Swindon Audi over the years, so I see no reason to sacrifice peace of mind for economic gain.
