Audi A4 1.8T S Line 2004
Advantages: Driveability, Good Looks.
Disadvantages: Common Faults (But are not expensive to fix)
...Just upgraded to the Audi A4 1.8T S Line a few weeks ago from my Audi Cab 2.6 V6. I thought I was going to miss the power of the V6, how wrong i was!. The 1.8T with 190bhp is a quick machine and once the turbo kicks in you have hot hatch power in a saloon.
These cars are ripe for tuning by way of ECU remapping, air filters, diverter valves and a number of other products which will increase BHP and torque.
The S Line trim with the extra body deeper grill, spoiler, wide arches make the car look sporty without going over the top. On the interior the aluminum trimmings along with the half leather sports seat are classy and comfortable for long journeys.
The suspension is stiff but solid on country road.
Some things that go wrong in this model although these may have been rectified in the 2004 onward models are ignition coil...

Audi A3 1.8 T Quattro
Advantages: Great build quality, lots of toys, pretty nippy and a name you can trust.
Disadvantages: Fuel consumption, fault on stereo and uncomfortable on really long journeys.
...with different road types (from motorway to twisty B roads) the average I got was around 25.8 mpg so it can become a little expensive!
Also you need to watch out for a fault with the music system. When the car is cold the volume control does not work properly and is either extremely quiet or REALLY loud! This is a fault on all the systems but it does stop within about 20 minutes of driving the car.
Overall, I would have to say the audi is a good car that I would definately reccomend to buy as long as your not doing long commutes in it! Very fun to drive and a beautiful cabin to sit in combined with the 4 wheel drive system and brilliant build quality you really can't go far wrong with this car....

Audi A4 Avant Turbo Sport
Advantages: Build Quality, Performance, Style.
Disadvantages: Cost, Handling at very high speeds
...cars. OK, so it is expensive, but it is worth it. We have two Audi's in the household, and I don't think we will ever regret it! Oh, and yes the handles above the seats are oil-dampened!...

Buying a USED A3 1.8T
Advantages: Reliability, quality of build, performance
Disadvantages: Costly servicing, fuel economy low if pushed
...In March of 2004 I purchased a three year old, Y-reg Audi A3 1.8 Turbo-sport three door.
The first thing that struck me with this car was the build quality and feeling of being in a very solid car. Despite being a smaller-sized hatch, this car has a surprisingly large amount of front space and a boot that could swallow whole families. Yes, the rear seats do have less leg room than you would expect in a car of this size, but the front sports seats cause this. In the non-sport model, the standard seats do allow for exra legs in the rear. The boot can comfortably hold three sets of golf clubs and if I collapse one side of the 2/3 split rear seats, six can easliy be squeezed in.
The interior trim is fantastic, despite being three years old, this car doesn't possess a single rattle or knock from any corner or orifice. My model has...

New Model A4 1.8T
Advantages: Looks, performance, price
Disadvantages: ummm, nope, still can't think of any
...Thought it was time for an update seeing as I've had the car for over 6 months...
I'd always had a thing about Audis, I'd love an S6 but the budget won't stretch, so the A4 was an obvious choice. Looking at the range I had the choice of the entry-level 2.0 of the 1.8T in either 2 wheel drive or Quattro. Comparing the performance the 2.0 pushes out 130bhp with the 1.8T raising this to 150bhp, simple choice then. Comparing this with the 3 series, the 318 offers only 112bhp, with the 320 jumping upto 170bhp, though the new model increases capacity to 2.3 litres. After test driving both variants I decided on the 2 wheel drive, though the brochure gives the same 8.4sec 0-60 time, the 2 wheel drive seems quicker, probably as the Quattro has the power being put out to all 4 wheels. I must say though that the Quattro definitely has the edge...

Audi ? not for me!!
Advantages: looks good, smooth drive
Disadvantages: cant see properly, faddy, posing car, drinks fuel
...Having recently been in a position of getting an Audi TT Quattro in black for a knock down price, and only being the second owner, it was an impulse buy.
At first everything was good, it had a CD changer, heated seats, computer telling you everything, and the looks you got when driving were fun. The novelty really REALLY wears off fast however.
After about a week of driving, having such a noticeable car started to become a problem rather than being a bit of fun. It might just be me but I was constantly checking it to make sure it was safe from people. Even in car parks, where there were much nicer cars, I would be paranoid because it would stick out so much.
The window was certainly interesting. Designed more for what it looks like than function, you really had to sit well in order to get a proper view of the road, and if...

Audi - Doodi
Advantages: Sports - Prestige hatchback for little money
Disadvantages: Not current model - what will the Joneses say
...GENERAL:
The car is definitely a looker, the car comes well equipped, and the boot is spacious enough to fit my golf clubs (Not the driver). It cruises effortlessly down the motorway, eats up B roads, and is trouble free around town. I particularly like the climate control, when set to the desired level, maintains the cabin temperature regardless.
PROBLEMS:
I had 2 years/30K miles relatively trouble free motoring, during which time the only problems that I encountered were a leaking water pump and a faulty window mechanism. I can not speak of Audi customer service because I bought the car private, and maintained and serviced it myself using parts from GSF, and Euro carparts, which offer the OEM parts for less.
COMPETITION:
When purchasing the A3, the other main competitor was the Golf. I am glad that I stuck to my guns...

Views From A Post Box
Advantages: Supermodel-attracting reputation; great build quality; excellent engine
Disadvantages: Woeful four wheel drive system; jelly-mould looks
..., and therefore German, the TT strikes immediately with its impressive build quality and you can't help but be satisfied by the solid 'thunk' of the doors as they swing closed behind you, the sensation of the thick, sporty steering wheel in your hands, the precise engineering of the switchgear and the exacting engagement of the gearbox, each gear flitting neatly from one to the other with a rewarding connection of cogs and another throaty blast from the 1.8 litre engine.
The TT immediately impresses with its pedigree and eminence. It sits proud on its haunches and its flowing lines give you the feeling that it's waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting BMW driver not checking his mirrors on the M1. Everything about the TT screams "success", and Audi wouldn't disagree with that statement. So successful has the TT been that it's barely had a facelift...

Aha, not another audi bore mobile
Advantages: Very roomy and relaxing with quality feel and looks
Disadvantages: not very chuckable
...Three months ago i bought a two year old example Audi A6 1.8T SE.I must admit i hadn't considered this initially as i thought it a little too large for my needs. As i've now got it i can confirm, yes it is too large for me to justify as i have no family but what the hell i would never have suited a fiesta anyway.
Where to start;aha the styling. Now you may disagree but i think this is a beautiful car with crisp lines and no fussy detailing and it looks really good in the 'metal'. Some could argue that it is too similar to the A4 and Passat but i would say 'Pah to you sir'.
The performance; now this is where you think that the 1.8T isn't big enough to haul along a car of this size, but you're wrong. Granted the traffic light race is always going to be tricky, but a 0-60 time of 9.4 and top whack of 135mph is not too shabby, and added...

My Pride and Joy with a few mods,
Advantages: Great car, understated looks, performance, prestege
Disadvantages: Price, Fuel Economy ( who cares),
...After a few years in driving around in lower Litre cars I have finally got to an age where insurance is a bit cheaper so I am able to afford a better more expensive and quicker car.
So in march this year I brought an Audi A3 1.8Turbo on a 03 registration,
When you think of Audi most people will think of a Prestige brand with great looking cars, reliable, they hold their value well and their dealerships are generally pretty good. At least that's the view that I had of them when I went into the dealership looking at a Used Audi a3, and I was not wrong. I found a beautiful Dolphin Grey Audi A3 with the 1.8T engine and all the usual spec to boot and I was immediately in love.
The Engines
The engines that Audi put in their cars are usually a dream, in the A3 they start off with the basic 1.6 engine which produces just over 100...
