Toshiba SD330E
Review of Toshiba SD330E by
goofy123
Advantages: 'Toshiba Brand Name' Multi Region capability
Disadvantages: No On Board DTS/Dolby Digital Decoder
...I bought the Toshiba SD330E DVD player 3 Months ago.
My choice, was influenced at the time by the price (£49.99), and, having already owned the lower model Toshiba SD125E.
Advantages of the SD330E:
=
Plays DVD, VCD, Audio CD (inc mp3/ wma format) JPEG's (Photo cd's/dvd's) , as well as DVD-R discs of dvd video format, with no problems.
Multi Region Capable (provided you check where you are buying it from).
Component video outputs, coaxial audio & optical audio outputs. (For those wishing to connect to Home Cinema / Plasma's or LCD
televisions.
Superb Picture Quality, (even when connected with Scart Lead)
I have mine connected to my home cinema system, through the optical out connection, and, well, lets just say, this is how DVD should be observed!!
Disadvantages of the SD330E...

Hella sexy CD wallet!
Review of Fellowes Body Glove Scuba Wallet For CD/DVD discs by
adehh
Advantages: Stylish, high quality
Disadvantages: Price, maybe the size
...Right so what can I say about a CD wallet? Well having owned only 2 CD wallets prior to this one, both costing under £5 I thought I'd go crazy and buy an expensive CD wallet for once. I was sick of my other CD wallets and the tacky CD sleeves that came with them, they were always ripping and you had to pop out the slits for the CDs yourself.
Enter the Body Glove Scuba! I remember first looking for a new CD wallet in the Argos catalogue and found an older Body Glove CD wallet with the yellow stripe on it, I think it had a different name 'Swish' or something. After taking my searching to the Internet I found the Scuba and immediately thought to myself 'I want that.' - Just off the looks of the CD wallet alone.
As you know this version of the Scuba holds 64 CDs or 32 CDs and 32 manuals, but I bought it for holding 64 CDs. The wallet...

USE YOUR LOGIC WITH THE CASE LOGIC
Review of Case Logic KSR 24 Wallet For CD/DVD discs by
penguin1052
Advantages: Store's CD's with Ease
Disadvantages: non really
...EASE OF USE
Great, very easy to use. Just undo the zip and you’re into the wallet. Don’t worry about having to remove the CD’s to find the correct one as the wallets inside are made from a clear plastic. This means you can find the CD you want within seconds.
QUALITY AND DURABILITY
No complaints here, the product does exactly what you would expect and puts up with being chucked round like anything too. Unlike some cases I’ve seen the wallets in this one are a strong plastic not half plastic half paper. This basically means that they won’t start to rip as soon as you try to get your discs in and out. The outer of the case is of a hard rubberized/leather style material which can take a pretty good beating.
VALUE FOR MONEY
Seen them for around £5 to £10 making them great value as they give great protection to your CD’s while...

Clear as a bell
Review of Sony MHC-ZX70 DVD by
pbyron
Advantages: Fantastic sound and nice DVD features
Disadvantages: Won't play CDR/CDRW
...that fits with most of the other Sony audio/video products available. It has a nice little clock function when off, or you can choose to have the flashing lights of the attract mode on (which does nothing useful, other than to say ‘look at me, aren’t I nice?!’ to any passers by.) The five CD/DVD changer at the bottom has five lights to show you what trays have CDs in them and five more on the other side for easily ejecting one of the discs. The disc mechanism is similar to a jukebox, where you have one single tray that appears from the system and then the disc disappears while the machine sorts it into order in the correct tray, nice and neat although it can be a bit clunky at times. The RDS means that the radio station names are displayed when listening to the radio and several graphic equaliser displays can be chosen...

A Hifi That wants to be everything!
Review of Technics SCDV290 by
MurphmanL
Advantages: Looks Fancy, Great Sound, Home Cinema in a Space Saving Hifi, Lights Up Like an Xmas Tree, Good DVD Picture Quality, Feature Rich, Fantastic DVD Audio Reproduction
Disadvantages: No Dedicated Subwoofer, Cannot expand system with further stack, Confusing Remote Control Structure,
...is smooth. The laser however doesnt appear to be very tolerant with marked DVD - R media, since a lightly fingermarked disc that plays fine on my other dvd players seems to randomly pause and stutter on this hifi. This is no big issue however, just means I need to take a little bit of extra care and clean my discs a little better!
Formats supported are:
CD . CD-R. CD-RW. DVD, DVD-R. DVD-Ram, VCD, MP3, Jpeg, WMA.
The hifi specifically states it cannot play svcd or DVD-RW media, however I have not yet had the time to test this.
DVD playback is very good, and despite the lack of an RGB scart output offering, the picture is still very clear and crisp for a composite output. There is also an S-Video option if you desire, but no leads are supplied for this. As far as options go, there are loads you can tinker with, as well as an intelligent zoom mode...

Philips MCB 700 micro hifi
Review of Philips MCB 700 by
bob3000000
Advantages: neat small and attractive... good sound, reasonable rich bass..
Disadvantages: not massively loud. limited sound adjustability.
...etc.. to (on the back of the HI-FI)
2 phono plugs so that's quite useful.
4.) the remote is very practical as with most philips items well thought out and laid out.
you can play CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 discs on the cd player which opens upwards (btw) so the hi-fi cannot be put under something.
Audio output 2x25 watts
Speaker type 2 way
Radio Yes
RDS No
Radio type AM/FM/DAB
1 more point there doesn't seem to be an adjustable graphic equaliser setting so your stuck with the adequate classic, pop, rock, jazz etc.. settings also (dbb) which makes it richer sounding.
That's all folks....

96 cd's - enough for a few weeks!
Review of Case Logic CDW 96 Wallet For CD/DVD discs by
christophe81
Advantages: Sturdy and strong
Disadvantages: None
...I bought this case about a year ago, to add to my vast array of cd cases, I really should get a mega huge one, but prefer to segregate my music into a number of differnent case.
This case is nicely made study nylon based cover, with stiff edges to stop the cd's being damaged.
It can holf up to 96 cd's which is more that enough for a lot of people. The wallet itself is a pretty good size, measuring 12.5" x 11.5" x 2.5" and is filled with ProSleeve® pages and Fast-File™ pockets which allow immediate access to any of your cd's, it is really easy to get cd's in and out - which can be a pain in some wallets. It weighs approximately 1 lb , 8 oz and should have a 25 year guarantee! I think I paid about £20 roughly, I think it was on offer at the time, I'm sure the price has changed a year on though. I bought it from PC World, but I'm sure...

Seriously decent MP3 recorder/player
Review of IRiver H-120 20 GB by
mindwarrior
Advantages: Built in mic, size, disk space
Disadvantages: None
...This has to be one of the best things I've bought in a long time. It comes with all the accessories like, very well fitted cover, leather look wallet, external mic, all connecting cables for audio inputs.
You can connect this to a Hi Fi and record in MP3 in all different quality settings, I usually stick to 160kbps whichis near enough CD quality recording. Special features include two optical inputs so I can connect straight into a CD player. and move it onto an MD recorder optically aswell!
It is extremely simple to use, and at first I was surprised at the amount of facilities it did have from so few buttons! The overall presentation of this machine is excellent.
It so small aswell, and sturdily built, much better than certain other plastic MP3 players around. At first I thought the internal mic wouldnt be any good, but I...

Stylish and Technical
Review of Technics SC-DV 290 by
peteyl
Advantages: Brilliant sound quality
Disadvantages: A lot of trust in electronics
...I have owned this hi-fi since the beginning of the year and so far nothing has gone wrong however i am cautious.
When i first got it i found the cables that came with it were not big enough for my living room so i had to buy some longer ones, so the ease if installation was fairly easy altough required me buy more pay out more.
The hi-fi has a 5 disc changer so 5 cds can be in the system at any time which makes it great when your relying on the remote.
The disc selection is 5 disc bays on top of one another and when you want to select a certain bay, it physicly moves the cd bay to the reader.
I personly dont like leaving 5 discs in the machine at once. I'm not sure if i should be but i am cautoius about changing the disc selection as you can hear the mechanics of the hi-fi working inside. It takes a long time and im in fear that a cd...
