Advantages: Great rendition by Hugh Fraser, unabridged story
Disadvantages: Not my favourite Poirot story

...at night and got into the habit of listening to an audio book after the light has gone out - somehow it helps to stop the mind from racing and lulls me to sleep - not because the story is boring, but because it soothes. This is one of my favourite stories. Dead Man's Mirror is a short Poirot story by Agatha Christie and thankfully, this version of the audio book is unabridged and comes on CD, lasting for approximately two and a quarter hours. This is not a dramatisation; rather, it is read as it is by Hugh Fraser, who of course plays Captain Hastings in the television version. Dead Man's Mirror was published as part of a collection of short stories under the collective name of Murder in the Mews. Hugh Fraser does a superb job of reading the book. Philips Audio XQ

Advantages: Reliable, relatively cheap

...I recently had to purchase a set of CD-R's to produce some CD's, for legal reasons I should point out!! So I brought a set of the 'XQ' version, along with the 'Q' version produced by Philips. Made in Germany, the 'blurb' on the packaging states: 'For use with all Digital Audio CD-Recorders. Philips CD-R Q/XQ offer high quality, digital audio performance.' But do they really offer high quality?? Well, the majority of the CDs were used to burn mp3's, so that would partly rely on the quality of the mp3's more than anything, although after listening to them via the CD, there were absolutely no apparently signs of the quality of the songs having faded after being placed on the CD. Occasionally, I find that some CD-R's don't work when being written on, possibly because of the speed of my computer drive, but thankfully not one...

Review of Philips Audio XQ CD-R 80 min

Amazing Cambridge Audio 640 c CD player

Advantages: price - looks - build quality
Disadvantages: Not anything major

...What can i say about the Cambridge Audio Azur CD player. WELL...... its CLASS! The design is amazing with the blue LCD power light and the very clear LCD screen to show what track you are on. The remote control is very well built and heavy, not in a bad way but in a way that shows the quality. Another advantage about the remote is that it works with all AZUR products. I currently have the CD player and the AMP and they work perfectly together and all by using the one remote control. There is only one little thing that i could possible comment on that they could have improved on. If your lazy like me and have the CD tray open and do not want to press the close button then the off button it will not automatically shut the tray for you. It turns off and leaves it open. Even my £10.00 CD player does that. But out of everything that...

Go Audio Made Up Stories

...Go Audio Made Up Stories Go Audio have a great talent which they clearly show in this album, I personally am in love with their material. Made Up Stories ***** This is a brilliant start to this album and obviously is the album title. This i would say is just a taster to this album because if you listen to it you would know that the tracks just keep getting better. The vocals in this track are brilliant and it has a simple but effective bass line which i like jamming along to. So Quiet You Were **** I'm only giving this a four because nearly every other track is a five atleast. It is a brilliant track which has amazing memorizable lyrics to it and it is worth taking the time to listen to. Brake! Brake! ***** I love the rhythm and drum beat to this track they get your foot tapping or fingers...

Owners view on the Cambridge Audio A1 Intergrated amplifier

Advantages: great clarity, can recognise delicate sounds, for the price its unbeatable!
Disadvantages: it wont break any windows in terms of volume! it lacks any digital input!

...For a budget amplifier you get oodles of clarity! its punchy, and delivers the most delicate of high frequencies too.... i have paired it up with an old pair of Kef Cresta 3's and have used several diffent speakers and different cables.... the first lot of cable i tried was specially handmade gold in, silver out @ £600 per meter! and the current cable is cheapy £2 bell type wire, and to be honest, it made very little difference in the quality... maybe a tad clearer, but nothing vastly notable).. so as another plus, it will make a very low budget system sound very good! so positives are amazing sound quality, from bassy club music to delicate classical, it delivers all with a convincing realism, and thats using a standard cd player on my pc! its bass is very punchy if need be and is quite apparent even at low volumes!!! clarity is...

...I recently managed to fill up my 80GB Hard drive with all sorts of rubbish and needed some CD's to store my information on. Usually I would buy them from Tesco's, but as I was In a hurry I popped into my local computer retailer (Northbridge Computers in Lowestoft) to see what he had available. All he had on this occassion was TDK CD-R80 discs. There was single CD's in cases, boxs of ten in cases and spindles of twenty-five and one hundred. I plummeted for the spindle of twenty-five as I wasn't rich enough at the time to buy the big fat one hundred spindle. ***Product*** The disc's themselves are light blue with a silver swirl on it. TDK CD-R80 is clearly stamped on it. There is plenty of room to write on them and they can store up to 700MB of data or 80 minutes recording time. Typically you can expect your order to arrive in around 48 hours. They always have a good budget range for sale, usually these are around the £6-8 mark. You pay p+p on top of these though. As expected you can search by artist, title etc, and look through the whole catalogue. There is very rarely a cd they do not have. Prices do vary though, and they may not be the cheapest around. Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't! They do offer imports and rare releases. Sega Mega CD? Sega Mega Crap!

...Processor! - 512 simultaneous colours! - A Single Speed CD Drive! - Listen to your Audio CDs! - Full Motion Video! Man, with all those cool features, you know that this is already a massive pile of total garbage. I love how they shamelessly marketed this device?s full motion video capabilities, as opposed to what? Video that isn?t full motion? And with just 512 simultaneous colours onscreen, you can imagine how disgustingly grainy the video playback was. Also, the video wasn?t that smooth and only took up a 1/3 ? 2/3 of the screen, rather than take up the entire screen for full screen video action. That just struck me as just odd because who wants to watch video on their TV?s at a fraction of what the TV could display? Well guess what, the Mega CD?s processor was not suited for video and the limited 512 colours didn?t display videos...
