Made Up Stories ***** This is a brilliant start to this album and obviously is the album title. This i would say is just a taster to this album because if you listen to it you would know that the tracks just keep getting better. The vocals in this track are brilliant and it has a simple but effective bass line which i like jamming along to. It is a brilliant track which has amazing memorizable lyrics to it and it is worth taking the time to listen to. Brake! Owners view on the Cambridge Audio A1 Intergrated amplifier

Advantages: great clarity, can recognise delicate sounds, for the price its unbeatable!
Disadvantages: it wont break any windows in terms of volume! it lacks any digital input!

...For a budget amplifier you get oodles of clarity! its punchy, and delivers the most delicate of high frequencies too.... i have paired it up with an old pair of Kef Cresta 3's and have used several diffent speakers and different cables.... the first lot of cable i tried was specially handmade gold in, silver out @ £600 per meter! and the current cable is cheapy £2 bell type wire, and to be honest, it made very little difference in the quality... maybe a tad clearer, but nothing vastly notable).. so as another plus, it will make a very low budget system sound very good! so positives are amazing sound quality, from bassy club music to delicate classical, it delivers all with a convincing realism, and thats using a standard cd player on my pc! its bass is very punchy if need be and is quite apparent even at low volumes!!! clarity is...

Sturdy, versatile audio/midi interface/surface

...Amongst audio interfaces this is unique for having both audio/midi ports as well as the light-up top knob and buttons. These can be asisgned to functions in a wide range of audio DAWs from Apple's Garageband to Logic and Cubase. The unit is simple to install and use although I did have to download the latest drivers for it to be recognised on a USB port. With two audio inputs, guitar and a microphone or other instruments can be quickly setup. The back plate includes MIDI in and out ports to complete the connectivity. Once connected it immediately offers high-end audio clarity and 3ms latency which ensures you hear straightaway the music you're playing. Although this unit is now a few years old, its sturdy construction and versatility make it a better option than the newer Guitar Rig Sessions 3 XE device....

M-Audio Fast Track Pro - Great for working with audio on a budget

Advantages: cheap, reliable, portable, easy to use and intuitive
Disadvantages: limited ins and outs, not a lot of leeway for input levels

I originally bought mine as my very first audio/usb interface to use with my Macbook and Logic Pro when I first started university, 2 years ago. I am now in my final year, and have progressed up to using Pro Tools (M-powered, as this is the only version supported by the Fast Track Pro.) I have to date used the fast track pro to create semi-professional projects. The sound quality is, I have to say, very good for a £120 interface, although I have had problems attempting to get a decent input signal strength, especially when using the built in phantom power. However, the integrated phantom power is effective, even when the unit is powered solely by USB, although the option for mains power is available, though the adapter is not included in the box. Belkin 2-Port KVM Switch With Audio Support

Advantages: Cheap, all in one solution, audio support

...two PCs along with audio. The video side uses a VGA connector and supports resolutions of up to 2048x1536 @65Hz. Switching between PCs is done via an easily remembered keyboard sequence. I would however have like to have had a manual button on the device itself in case the keystroke sequence interfered with anything. Also, if the current PC locks up, you can't switch to the other without rebooting the locked one. The top of the F1DL102P features a pair of LEDs to show which PC is currently selected. If you need to keep an eye on both PCs, you can enable autoscan mode which toggles back and forth between the PCs every eight seconds. A quick press of the space bar stops autoscanning and lets you use the currently selected PC. The F1DL102P claims support for scrolling mice but I did find sometimes one PC would start up...

...it. I hate to hear music from a CD played in some sort of psuedo surround mode. Even concert DVD's just don't seem right to me in surround. (And I've heard £50,000+ systems too!!) When did you ever go to a concert where some of the musicians were behind you? Or even to the side, for that matter. Music should be listened to coming from (preferably) just 2 speakers in front of you, IMHO. Don't even let me get started on the subject of subwoofers... End Tangent! The Cambridge Audio Azure 540D is a very capable player. It has all the connectivity you are likely to need other than HDMI (I'm on a bit of a downer on HDMI at the moment, so I don't see that as an ommission) but including a very good downmixed stereo sound out (Jargon decode - it makes surround sound encoded music DVD's sound nice ;-) ). In summary, I would buy one...

Excellent quality, the design is good too - doesn't look too plastic, or out of place at all in todays living. The units provide a 100m range, which should be ample for most peoples needs. You also get a headphone jack, so if you wanted to - you can set the tranmitter up on your hifi stereo, and receive the music via your television in another room ( again taking the remote control for the stereo, will allow you to change CD track, radio station etc etc using the IR device included ) It also allows for connection to your PC to transmit audio. The palyer does come with an installation CD however when i plugged it into my computer (windoes xp) the computer recognised it as a mass storage device and I was therefore able to drag and drop files onto it. The battery life is OK, I have managed to listen to all the songs on the audio dream without having to charge it wihich is about 6 hours of music. It does take a while to fully charge through my laptop. --Features-- 512 Flash memory (about 5 albums) Audio Playback: MP3, WMA 1.8" OLED display About 10 hours playback time Charge via usb cable or mains cable (both supplied in box) Headphones 3.5mm jack. An average small device, I think my expectations were too high but it does produce a good sound. However I think there are better small MP3 players out there......

Cambridge Audio C/P500 Pre/Power Amp

Advantages: Audiophile quality design and build
Disadvantages: takes up more shelves on your hi-fi rack and needs more cables. Big Deal!!!

...I have owned two of these P500 power amps along with accompanying C500 control/pre-amp for approx 10 years now. They are receiving signal from a 24 bit NAD C540 CD player (see my other review) and feeding a pair of Mission 734i floor standing speakers. I bought this system after initial going to audition a NAD amplifier of the time that had received rave reviews. I was recomended to try the C/P500 combination to compare and although the NAD was fairly close on the lower frequencies the higher frequencies were much clearer and natural and so I ended up buying two power amps to bi-amp the speakers (the P500 does give two sets of connections to facilitate bi-wiring, it's just that at this price I couldn't resist). I listen to a varied range of music from older stuff such as the Beatles and the Clash, more modern stuff such as Jamiruqai...
