My favourite guitar!

Advantages: Great sound plugged or unplugged, well made
Disadvantages: Modest styling

...This guitar is wonderful! The sound is fantastic whether in the studio playing into a mic, on stage plugged into the PA, or sitting in my house just playing for the hell of it. I have owned it for over a year now, and the only complaint I have is that some of the frets are beginning to wear out. I must say that I expect that to be due to my excessive playing rather than a black mark against Taylor. I play gigs several times a week, I'm heavily involved in several recording projects in Germany, and this is also the main guitar I use at home, so fret wear is inevitable. My style of playing is very percussive, and actually because of this the top of the guitar has suffered around the sound hole. ...I've owned an Epiphone Dot for over a year now, so I know it intimately. Well, as intimately as a man can get with a guitar anyway! I guess I'll start with the basics for anyone who's just starting out. The Dot is a semi hollow electric guitar, This means thats it has a solid block of wood running lengthways through the body, but has hollow chambers on either side. This means it is more audible than a standard solid electric guitar unplugged, but plugged in has the added bonus it is less prone to unwanted feedback than fully hollows. It has 2 humbucker pickups, a 3 way selector switch which lets you use youre different pickups at different time, and 2 independant tone and volume controls. Review of Epiphone The Dot Electric Guitar

Rock out with Guitar Hero III, wirelessly.

Advantages: Enjoyable, Easy to learn, Play on multiple levels, hours of play time.
Disadvantages: That you must complete a certain level to acess some songs.

...Years ago my friend, Henri, introduced me to Guitar Hero and I was hooked. Unfortunatally I only had a PC so I had just admire Guitar Hero from afar. Then when my house bought a Wii I just new that I had to get Guitar Hero and I was even luckier because HMV was selling it for £35 compared to the original and expensive £70. I have also seen it in CEX (The second hand electronic store), but it was expensive there as well at £60. For my £35 pounds I got: 1x Wireless Guitar, 1X Wii Game Disc (Legends of rock), 1X sheet of stickers to personalise the guitar. "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock" is a sequeal in the Guitar Hero (GH) series. Others include GH Metallica, GH ... The game disc is compatible with Guitar Hero Wii Guitars and so could be purchased separatly as just an addition to your GH collection. The best place to buy the game...

Review of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Wii)

Watch out Rock Band, Guitar Hero is back.

Advantages: Gameplay now on a par with the Rock Band series. Excellent feature set on the Wii.
Disadvantages: Very expensive if you've not already got the instruments. Some songs are a bit obscure.

... Introduction The original Guitar Hero was one of the landmarks in the rhythm game genre; it moved away from merely tapping out a beat to giving you a controller that resembled a real guitar. Sure, it's nothing like playing a real guitar, but then again most people can't just pick one up and sound just like Hendix or Clapton. It was a perfect bit of escapism with devilishly addictive gameplay, and it worked. This was consolidated with a few sequels but then along game Rock Band which pretty much dethroned the original Guitar Hero with a seamless expansion of the gameplay to including singing and drums. Guitar Hero 3

Advantages: Ok game if you havent play the two other Guitar Hero Games
Disadvantages: The game has become more commercialised

...Guitar Hero 3 is a decent game with new play modes and the new guitar hero battles added in the career play mode, however I think that this game isnt as good as Guitar Hero 1 and 2 as it seems to have sold out and changed up a few things to make it a more popular game. Guitar Hero 3 is easier to play in my opinion, especially hammer ons and pull offs are easier and game play on expert even seems slower to me. The games songs style has changed, there is no longer a long list of lethal rock and metal songs, the song list in this game is more commercialised so as to suit a larger range of people, which may be good for business but I dont think has inproved the game. My little bundle of joy arrived through my letter box yesterday morning (the day after the release date) delivered from HMV.com with free delivery, totalling £26.99 (with student discount). In the box, you get the add-on part with the coloured buttons that you insert into the GameBoy Advance slot on your DS, a seperate attachement that you have to use if you are using an old style DS, a plectrum stylus, the game catridge, a game case, two sticker sheets and the instructions - though don't ask me what they say, I figured I would work everything out along the way. Guitars guitars and nothing but guitars

Advantages: Some electrifying passages where you can crank up the volume...

...What an unimaginative title I thought. Calling a Mike Oldfield album "Guitars" is like calling a Bond film "Licence To Kill" - it tells you less than you already know. Then I got it: guitars and nothing but guitars. No drums, synths or vocals. No Tubular Bells even. Is that the idea? Simple, but ambitious. Who else could even attempt this? "Muse" opens the album, it is a beautiful, mellow, Spanish guitar melody. But is this to be another bland CD of Test Card music? (see my op. on Oldfield's "Voyager") Well the added urgency and edge of "Cochise" suggest not. This is serious, invigorating guitar playing. Truly electric. The next track "Embers" is much more subdued though and "Summit Day" would not be out of place on his triumphant "Songs of Distant Earth" CD. It's all good so far, but with no fixed mood.
