Advantages: High quality video, supports many formats Disadvantages: Confusing labels on remote controller
...Pioneer DV-600AV was interesting for me because it has possibility to play DVD-Audio and SACD and it has got integrated
decoder with analog output for 5.1. Extra interesting is the quality of sound which some DVD players are having bad quality.
Quality of sound was pretty good with nice serve of acustic which i wasnt able to heat on my older players.
I/O
Back side includes HDMI, component Video, S-video, audio 5.1, scart, optic and koaxial output. On the front panel is
placed conector USB 1.1 for USB devices. There should be more conectors, but on the other hand we shall be glad that none of the
important connectors is missing. Extern USB devices are not supported as manufacturer has written. In the real it is working with no
problems:) I tried from flash disk Kingston Data traveller II. It is possible to play mp3 with variate...

Review of Pioneer DV-600AV
Advantages: Looks great, sounds awesome, feels awesome Disadvantages: Detailed set up can be tricky - just as well it comes idiot proof!
...Ok then, so I'm a lucky boy....
On my last birthday my wife decided that she wanted to treat me to a home cinema system so off we went to our local Richer Sounds store (they are VERY cheap and VERY helpful - recommended everyone pays them a visit!) with cash in hand an wangled a deal.
I got this Marantz A/V Receiver , A Yamaha surround sound speaker package and a Panasonic DVD recorder for the princly sum of £350 - a bit of a discount from the £900 RRP!
I'll be reviewing each product in turn so check out my other reviews if you want a full system checkup!
So into the review of the A/V Receiver:
1) The Theory
I wanted a reciever that not only looked good, but that also provided the output and poer to match. I've long been a fan of the Marantz range as they not only look and feel good to use, they also have the reputation...
Advantages: Fast, Quiet and Reliable Disadvantages: None!!
...I bought the ABIT AV8 as an upgrade from a cheap-and-cheerful ASRock board. The ASRock was perfectly good, but I wouldn't go past the word 'Functional' to describe it. It did the job, and that's that. Hardly any ability to overclock, no soaring performance and 2 channel sound.
The AV8 is a big step up from the ASRock, I can tell you now. I would recommend you have a look at the features it offers even if you weren't considering upgrading, because there are so many things on the list that I didn't know I needed but couldn't live without today. For example, how many times have you overclocked your PC just to find it refuses to boot at all? You then have to go through the process of removing the CMOS battery, removing all power, waiting for the BIOS to lose its settings and then connect back up and pray.
With the AV8 there is no need...
Advantages: Big screen, TV recording. Loudspeaker Disadvantages: Quite Big
...computer but do not have the cable handy. It also provides extra storage which is always handy.
Overall, this PMP is excellent, and I think that the only better PMP is the Archos AV500, which I am now looking to buy....
Advantages: Amazing picture quality, easy to use software, attractive product and interface Disadvantages: Long video conversion software, very expensive!
...I decided that I'd try and top my friends' new Ipods by buying a multimedia player. Looking at the market, the new Archos AV400 series easily came on top. They brought out two models, the AV420, the 20gb model, and the AV480, the 80gb model. Thinking of all the mps and films I intended to put on there, I decided to go to the 80gb model, added expensive, but definately worth it. All the software needed to convert files so they are compatable with the Archos come on the system, and are easy to install and use. I did find, though, that converting a full length film does take a few hours, which can be a bit of hassle.
The Archos comes with its own little docking station that allows you to connect it to a television. So if you don't have a computer, yo can record programs, dvds or videos straight from or via your television. Similarly you...
Advantages: Everything you could want apart from a phone!! Disadvantages: Earphones might be a proble for some people
...I previously bought the Archos Jukebox and have had it for a few years. I had been really pleased with it, unfortunately it was not holding its charge as well and decided to upgrade.
I wasn't 100% sure about buying an AV700 because of the reviews I had read about it. I had read some reviews which pointed out some difficulty when transferring files. I must say I have not had any problems with transferring and files from my pc and in fact have found it very easy. Other problems which I have read about are the viewing screen quality. I have not had any problems with this myself but, I did spend quite a lot of time going through the manual to familiarise myself with the controls etc.
I had been so pleased with the products from them that I decided to go for it anyway and I am so glad that I did. The picture quality is fantastic, I...
Advantages: portability Disadvantages: battery life
...This model now seems defunct, however, the new archos (av700) seems large and cumbersome. The massive screen just seems impractical for it's portability. If a simple video/music player is what you are looking for then this is the answer. The price has come down a lot recently. The software does seem slow and songs can take a while to load when the harddrive is full. but the information that is displayed is relevant and the sound quality is good. Some features that are not immediately noticable are the button lock and in built speaker toggle, which is available when the each of the option buttons are held down for 2 seconds. The cradle is a great feature, allowing direct from TV recording....
Advantages: Advantages - excellent picture quality for price range, solid build quality Disadvantages: Disadvantages - not as many options and features as other widescreens on the market, the stand is not aesthetically great
...First off if you are looking for a 28 inch television under £450 then this JVC all rounder is definitely worth investigating. Its picture quality is very impressive and sharp for this price level, showing colours clearly and brightly. The 100hz picture scan (twice as much as the typical 50hz picture scan for this price range) ensures the picture is less blurry than many of this tv's competitors, and text can be clearly read on screen without straining your eyes, unlike on some cheaper televisions.
The AV-28X4's sound quality is decent enough, but you can get better for the money. Unusually the speakers are below the screen, rather than each side, meaning the stero sound effect is not as noticeable as on some televisions. The sound is by no means bad, but if you want a home move experience, then you will need to attach some external...

Review of JVC AV-28 X4
Advantages: Excellent for Overclocking Disadvantages: Needed a bios update
...I recently purchased the ABIT AV8 3rd EYE Motherboard and an Athlon 64 - 3000 (Winchester core) Processor.
I purchased the ABIT Motherboard due to the fact my last motherboard was ABIT and I was totally satisfied with it.
When I got the AV8 set it all up with the new processor, I was let down because it did not work. As the processor was the latest version, the motherboard was unable to identify it, thus would not work. After purchasing a new bios chip for the board it fired up straight away.
So i installed windows and away i went.
I was totally amazed with the speed of the system and was so in awe of the new 3rd eye display.
For those of you who don't know, the 3rd eye is an LCD display which is attached directly to the motherboard. It is run by a seperate processor on the motherboard, and can monitor upto 5 fans...
