Good solid bit of kit for the workplace
Advantages: Durable, Easy to use
Disadvantages: Speakerphone could be better
...I have used the Avaya 6408D+ at work for over 2 years and I have to say I am quite impressed with it. This is a digital phone designed to be used in a business environment. In order to function properly, it requires a digital circuit that is set up as part of a digital telephone system. In my company we have the AUDIX messaging system for voice mail and call transfers. This allows a user to set up their own voicemail greeting and also allows a personal login to receive messages.
The 6408D+ is a corded phone that includes a built-in 2-way speakerphone. Above the keypad are 6 function buttons:
MUTE turns off the microphone associated with the handset so the person at the other end of line cannot hear you (a red light indicates when this is in use)
SPKR for activating the speakerphone (a red light indicates when this is in use)
HOLD...

A neat little webcam, perfect for VOIP.
Advantages: Neat, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Manual information is a little lacking in places.
...manual a bit lacking in places. It tells you to install the driver software, but ignores the capture (Amcap) software. However, the user interface on the CD is quite good and gives you all the software installation options.
When installing the camera, you may need to refer to the printed & diagrammatical instuctions simultaneously. I found that my Windows XP (home) operating system recognised the camera & added it as new hardware with no problems. The initial camera set up interface is easy to use.
Use: Web cam (video conferencing):
I wanted to use this camera purely for Skype conversations. I was impressed with the streaming picture quality during web conferencing. It interfaced with Skype perfectly but can also be used with most other mainstream chat/voip programs. The camera was easy to focus (by using the focussing ring...

VOIP with Tesco.....
Advantages: Very cheap phone calls, decent quality handset
Disadvantages: Handset's cord isn't very long.
...I don't have a landline, because for the amount of phone calls I make, it wouldn't be worth paying the monthly line rental. I normally use my mobile to make calls, but as you can imagine it's very expensive. So, when I saw Tesco Internet Phones in a computer magazine, promising cheap calls and no hidden fees, I immediately decided I'd get one.
*What is Tesco Internet Phone and what do I need in order to have one?*
Basically it's Tesco's new voice over ip service - which means that you can make phone calls over your broadband internet connection. To use this phone you need a broadband internet connection - it doesn't matter what speed, a pc with a USB socket, and you must be over 18 and have a debit or credit card (so you can buy credit).
*Where do I get one?*
Go into your local Tesco and look for the Tesco Internet Phone...

Dual function quality phone
Advantages: Clear and crisp voice quality
Disadvantages: No answering machine
...Philips VoIP 433 is an amazing Philips gizmo at very reasonable price.
It has DECT- cordless telephone function with absolutely good sound quality. Its range is amazing and I could hear clear voice thro' 6 walls thickness indoor.
It is also has dual function of VOIP that means we do not have to sit near computer to chat and talk to someone when online. Setting VOIP with provided CD was straight forward and effortless job. Within 5 minutes my phone was ready to go online. It recognises all your contacts and has ability to sign in from handset. Beware it only works with windows live messenger and not with Skype or Google talk.
Phone has colour LCD screen with good resolution. The screen saver and other icons are animated and make going thro\' and making use of various functions pleasurable.
It has 100 contact number memory and 5...

A nice introduction to VOIP
Advantages: Free phone calls to other users, Easy to use
Disadvantages: Software is a bit buggy
..., and I called them for free, without a hitch. It's a great tool to keep in contact with people, wherever they are!
One issue which really irritates me however is the software itself, say if there is a problem with the Internet, the software will disconnect you from the service. Understandable, I know, but when you do get back online, and click "login", the software doesn't register with your phone again. So the phone does nothing, the only way to get around this is to restart the software so you can begin calling again.
In conclusion, it's a great little phone, an excellent introduction to VOIP and brilliant for keeping in contact with the world. Reccomended for University students!...

Olympia Cordless Skype DUALPhone
Advantages: Freedom of movement, Standard and Skype combo phone
Disadvantages: A bit pricy. No speakerphone or cross application support
...Olympia Cordless DUALPhone
The Olympia Cordless DUALPhone brings in a new era of internet telephony. It is a cordless combination standard DECT phone and internet VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) phone.
Before I continue, a warning to those who are considering purchasing this phone. Whey they say that this is a Skype phone, they really do mean that this is a Skype phone. It only works with the Skype software, and cannot be used as a microphone with other programs. For those technically minded, the phone will show up in your computer's audio device control panel, but will not work with other programs.
The phone itself is quite slim and lightweight, with a fairly neutral grey colour, and will not look out of place in either a home or office environment. The base however is rather on the bulky side, and users may have...

Have you tried voipbuster??
Advantages: free calls to landlines in UK, Spain, USA
Disadvantages: dependent on internet speed, broadband needed. Clarity not quite as good as landline
...Voipbuster is another voice over internet protocol. At present it is still a Beta system so is being tested and glitches can occur.
It can be found at www.voipbuster.com
I have been using it for about six weeks now and I estimate it has saved me over £100 in call charges, as I use it to make calls to Europe.
It is very easy to download and then there is a simple registrationprocess. You are asked for credit card details and a token ?5 is taken. However this money is never used as long as you only use the programme to call the "free" destinations, and a list of charges to other destinations is provided enabling comparison in charges with other providers.
The very best bit about voipbuster is that you can call from your computer to a landline completely free, with the other programmes i have tried it has only been computer to computer...

Excellent Voip phone!
Advantages: Small, compact, great sound, ease of use, great value for money
Disadvantages: Has a wire
...After trying a few other phones with skype (with little success), I found the Ipevo Free-1. It is at a bargain price, and provides you with great features, such as a list function and an alphabetical search through your skype contacts.
I thought it was going to be a lot bigger, but it's not really bigger than a small ruler, and its design is contemporary and stylish.
I wanted a voip phone that cleared up the sound on skype - this almost eliminates the echo.
All the software is installed so quickly, it will be ready to use within the first 5 minutes of you taking it out the box!!
Basically, it was a complete bargain. Quality and reliability all in one :)
- - In reply to the comment below, neither had I. I literally stumbled across it while searching for a well reviewed voip phone on the web. It came highly recommended...
