A Very Very Good Hair Day!

...After having very short and spiky hair for most of my teens and early 20's, I decided earlier this year that I need a change and decided to grow my hair. When it got to a certain length, I purchased a pair of £20 straighteners from a supermarket. Being the 'typical' man, I decided that straighteners were straighteners, and I was not going to pay over the odds for a product that would no doubt do the job just as well. After getting sick and tired of waiting about 5 minutes for my straighteners to heat up, and about 45 minutes trying to get my hair straight, I decided on the recomendation of my friend to purchase a pair of the GHD mini thin straighteners. Great for short thin hair

Disadvantages: Unable to cope with my thick hair

...I bought these recently as I cannot live without my older larger plated GHD's and thought that these would be a handy alternative. They do heat in under 3 seconds and have the same excellent ceramic plates as the larger version, however I found them very time consuming. I have very thick hair about shoulder length and unlike their larger cousins they were unable to straighten as effectively . On saying that they were brilliant on my fringe. I would recommend these to anyone with shorter or thin hair. A fashion conscientious male friend of mine used these and loved them and were perfect for his short hair. I would recommend using the straightening oil with these as they are very hot and I did find a few burnt strands of hair ....

...I have been using Aveda haircare products for a long time. I first discovered them in Los Angeles whilst visiting friends. Their Bathroom was like an Aveda Store, which gave me the advantage of trying most of the range without having to buy any products. I love it, what can I say... It has a fresh natural smell made up from the various Organic herbs and plant extracts in it. But what is even better is that it works, and in a non drying way as many detox shampoos do. I use this once or twice week before using other products from the Aveda range. It is and should be used as a pre-wash. ie. before your regular shampoo or hair treatment. If you get exposed to enviromental pollution and lets face it who does'nt these days? This shampoo is for you. It takes out all the cigerette smoke, smog, pollen, hair styling products etc out...

Solution to a whole host of hair problems

...Detoxifying shampoos were something I had always steered well clear of until I discovered this. Then, persuaded by the Aveda reputation I gave it a go - and am very glad that I did! I mainly use it to remove build up of styling products when I've been having a hard weekend on the town. You know the sort of thing - you're going out, put loads of styling product in; finish with hairspray; more hairspray during the evening to keep it in; no time to wash next day; different re-styling; product; more hairspray....etc etc. Well this gets all that out. No residue and no damage. Ever used a hair colour that was just too bright or dark? Wash a couple of times wit this and it will tone down. Regular swimmer? This shifts chlorine (including the smell) completely. It also gets nasty city pollution out of the hair and any residue of smoke...

Aveda Clove Conditioner for brunettes

Advantages: An effective colourant, deep conditioning
Disadvantages: Expensive, weighs fine hair down, stains bath and hands

...I bought the clove conditioner and shampoo as a set from lookfantastic.com, as I'd had such a good experience with Shampure. Sadly, this conditioner didn't meet my expectations, which was a shame as I wanted to like it due to the natural ingredients used. It is a very thick conditioner, almost like a paste, so is difficult to spread throughout the hair. I think it was probably a little too rich for my fine hair as it weighed it down too much. Due to it's rich texture, I could only use it through the ends of my hair. It is a very effective colourant, more so than the shampoo alone, but this caused problems as after prolonged use the ends of my hair had picked up more colour than the top. It also stained my bath, my shower curtain, my hands and my manicure! I ended up having to use latex gloves with it which meant that I could...

TAKE THE EVERDAY DIRT AND GRIME FROM YOUR HAIR

...I cannot commend this product enough. I have never used a detoxifier before, and since using it, my hair has never felt so good. It literally takes the everyday dirt and grime, caused by smoking, car pollution etc from your hair, and leaves it feeling soft and really clean. I use it when I feel my hair needs it i.e. after sitting in a smokey pub too often during the week, using heated tongs a lot and generally when my hair feels like it needs a general lift. As I use other Aveda products in between as well, this can be anywhere between once a fortnight to once a month. There you can find many and many products to suit everybody. You will also find out that these are organic product made using plants extracts, never tested on animals. Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo - Great for thick hair

Disadvantages: Hard to get out of the tube , needs a bit of work to lather up

...I was given a 125ml tube of Aveda's Sap Moss Shampoo by a friend. I have long, thick hair with a tendency towards dryness and split ends - and I am in my 40s so have a weather eye on the grey coming through .I have abused my locks with colour for a few years now!(I am female by the way!) This shampoo was a revelation! It's quite hard to get out of the tube and doesn't lather up very much so you could be mislead into thinking it isn't really working. Persevere ! After I had had a good go at lathering and then rinsed it off (adding a bog standard conditioner after) - I then left my hair to dry. Well - what a surprise - my hair had more body and softness than it's had in ages. Not overly shiney but much more manageable and with great texture.
