Above and beyond shampoo
Review of Aveda Shampure by
starry
Advantages: Suitable for all hair types, leaves hair feeling soft and shiny, helps to improve the condition, 1 litre bottle size is good value for money
Disadvantages: Not widely available on the high street
...and use a high percentage of naturally occurring plant and flower extracts.
Although here in the UK, Aveda are best known for manufacturing haircare products, they also have a wide range of skin and bodycare, make-up and even vitamins to help to promote a healthy body and lifestyle.

~ Why is Shampure so special? ~
Along with some other premium brands, Aveda have manufactured a shampoo which can be used on all hair types - dry and brittle; greasy; fine; out-of-condition or normal to name a few. Shampure contains Coconut Oil rather than a synthetic detergent to produce the lather and also has plant proteins to replace the moisture as it cleanses the impurities and grime from the surface of the hair. As it is protein enriched, with regular use it can strengthen hair and make it less susceptible to breaking and splitting...

Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo
Review of Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo by
chris706
Advantages: Makes your hair smell and feel fantastic
Disadvantages: Can be pricey.
...Aveda makes a large range of hair care products. They are not tested upon animals and are made from natural ingredients.
I have already tried the Aveda range before, and was impressed by this product when I saw it on QVC. You can also buy it from Aveda hair salons and over the internet from Aveda.com.
This is a pricey product. It comes in a range of sizes from 250ml to a full litre pump bottle. Prices start at about £10 to £40 for the litre pump. However, it is economical - a little goes a long way. I have a friend who bought the litre bottle and it lasted for 6 months of daily use.
I bought the 250ml bottle as part of a special offer that included the conditioner for £20. The secret of the shampoo is that you leave it on for a few minutes for the moisturising benefits of the Sap Moss to take effect before you wash it off...

Advantages: it was free! Refreshes and tones
Disadvantages: Expensive

Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo - Great for thick hair
Review of Aveda - Brilliant Range by
Bertie2000
Advantages: Great for thick hair
Disadvantages: Hard to get out of the tube , needs a bit of work to lather up
...I was given a 125ml tube of Aveda's Sap Moss Shampoo by a friend. I have long, thick hair with a tendency towards dryness and split ends - and I am in my 40s so have a weather eye on the grey coming through .I have abused my locks with colour for a few years now!(I am female by the way!)
This shampoo was a revelation! It's quite hard to get out of the tube and doesn't lather up very much so you could be mislead into thinking it isn't really working. Persevere ! After I had had a good go at lathering and then rinsed it off (adding a bog standard conditioner after) - I then left my hair to dry. Well - what a surprise - my hair had more body and softness than it's had in ages. Not overly shiney but much more manageable and with great texture. Also the split ends seemed to have all but disappeared after use! I put it all down...

Aveda Scalp Benefits Shampoo
Review of Aveda Scalp Benefits Balancing Shampoo by
rgreen5
Advantages: Cleans and conditions hair fantastically. Smells gorgeous. Made from natural ingredients.
Disadvantages: Slightly more pricey than some other brands (but worth it)
...After years of searching for a product which would properly clean my very oily hair I was recommended this product by my local Aveda retailer. It is fantastic! After just one wash three people commented on how shiny my hair was and I have had nothing but compliments ever since! After using this product in combination with the Scalp Benefits Conditioner for over a year my hair is in great condition even though I blow dry and straighten (using super hot GHD straighteners) every day! And where I was having to wash my hair every morning it now lasts a couple of days before it needs to be washed again. The product is all natural and has a gorgeous dandilion and burdock smell. Well done Aveda for this wonderful product!...

Aveda Loose Powder
Review of Aveda Loose Powder by
merlina
Advantages: great finish
Disadvantages: smallish pot
...This is my new favourite loose powder (which was previously Lancome). What's special about it is that it's the first loose powder which never irritates my skin, even if I don't wear a foundation or base underneath. My guess is that's because Aveda don't use mineral oil in any of their products, unlike most powders on the market. (it does contain talc though, so won't be suitable for those who have a sensitivity to that). The other great thing about this is that it's absolutely compatible with every other foundation I've tried it with - brands ranging from Maybelline to Nars and Boots to Sisley. Most powders work with some brands and not others, but here the colour and texture always stays true....

Quick fix colour from Aveda
Review of Aveda Madder Root Conditioner by
monica2971
Advantages: great to liven hair colour up
Disadvantages: none
...of a salon' feel and look, and the colour was excellant.
Aveda do a whole range of different colour conditioners to suite every hair type, but for anyone with red hair (coloured or natural), brunettes with red tones or black hair that want extra shine then this really is the best conditioner. Its as gentle as any good conditioner should be, but with the added benefit of giving extra colour.
One word of warning though, your hands do go slighlt red when you have applied it, so you need to really wash them after, and if you are leaving it on for longer than 5 mins then I'd wrap your hair in an old dark coloured towel. (it does wash out though, so it doesn't matter if the towel is white)....

my body is a temple
Review of Aveda Range by
simsimma
Advantages: natural, no sodium laureth sulphate, yummy ingredients and aromas, post-consumer recyclable packaging
Disadvantages: occasionally hard to locate
...bonus is that if you like a particular shampoo/conditioner you can invest in a litre size which has a pump- I find they easily last 10months and you save around £10.
My skin routine is primarily Aveda and I would recommend the exfoliant and the tourmaline charged spf 15 to anyone. The ingredients list is high in herbal content which pleases me! It's good to just browse the internet and learn more about what the benefits of each herb is. I'm a big fan of their tinted moisturisers as I prefer light makeup. I also love their eyeshadows- the colours can be dressed up or down. The lipsticks are quite sheer and from experience I'd recommend using a lip liner underneath if you want the colour to hold.
A good book that I bought from Aveda was '10 ways to Body Wisdom', it explains the philosophy well. O and not to forget their yummy smelling...

Something for everyone
Review of Aveda Range by
glajma
Advantages: Pure, natural and with a fabulous aroma
Disadvantages: Can be difficult to find in rural areas.
...and it makes my hair look like it cost me a fortune!
The Skincare range is also made from pure ingredients. The range is increasing all the time and becoming more sophisticated. I still prefer to use the original basic skincare items. My favourite item is the exfoliant. It really refreshes the skintone.
The Bodycare is a real treat. The aromas are so original, relaxing or invigorating ( I buy both!) Try 'Hand Relief'& 'Foot Relief' - the best handcream and foot cream on the market. They leave your skin so smooth and soft.
Aveda make-up is great for those of us who prefer to enhance our natural look rather than apply a heavy 'stage' look. There are lots of lovely natural hues and tones but then there are also a few bright, loud colours to take you into party time. I love the Sepia eye pencil and mascara. The lippies taste really good...

Light facial moisturiser perfect for daytime use
Review of Aveda Hydrating Lotion by
dratcliffe
Advantages: Light moisturiser with a refreshing smell
Disadvantages: may not be suitable for drier skins
...Aveda is a company I really approve of - their ethics are fab and so I love trying their products as some of my previous reviews has shown!
So here is my review for yet another Aveda product - this time it is a facial moisturiser from their Botanical Kinetics range, called Hydrating Lotion. I bought it in a 150ml size bottle with a handy economical pump dispenser, and it is lasting ages. Oooh and while I think about it the bottle is made from a very stylish green glass - and looks fab in my bathroom! I got it from an Aveda counter at a large department store but I know you can buy it from www.lookfantastic.com for £23.38 if you are a member (joining is quick, easy and free!) plus a bit of postage. If you think the average pot of cream is only 30-50ml this makes it suprisingly good value in my opinion.
It smells really fresh...
