Review of Aveda Pure Fume Anti-Humectant Pomade by
Connoisseur_Haggler
Advantages: it works! smooths tamed hair,satin finish,repels moisture, LASTS AGES!!!
Disadvantages: none..limited AVEDA shops in some regions , though many hair salon stock it!
...Purefume Brilliant Emoillient, but I would not recommend it as I think it is far too expensive!! I am sure there are far cheaper alternatives available, from Freida, Tigi, Collinge etc. This product has dual role, in that it is an anti-humectant (repels moisture) and helps style/tame hair leaving a “satin” finished look.
Finally all I can say is it not only smells wonderful with the beautiful floral aroma of jasmine, rose and many other pure flower and plant essences, but it actually works and a little goes a long, long way!!!

Above and beyond shampoo
Review of Aveda Shampure by
starry
Advantages: Suitable for all hair types, leaves hair feeling soft and shiny, helps to improve the condition, 1 litre bottle size is good value for money
Disadvantages: Not widely available on the high street
...and use a high percentage of naturally occurring plant and flower extracts.
Although here in the UK, Aveda are best known for manufacturing haircare products, they also have a wide range of skin and bodycare, make-up and even vitamins to help to promote a healthy body and lifestyle.
~~~~~~~~~~
~ Why is Shampure so special? ~
Along with some other premium brands, Aveda have manufactured a shampoo which can be used on all hair types - dry and brittle; greasy; fine; out-of-condition or normal to name a few. Shampure contains Coconut Oil rather than a synthetic detergent to produce the lather and also has plant proteins to replace the moisture as it cleanses the impurities and grime from the surface of the hair. As it is protein enriched, with regular use it can strengthen hair and make it less susceptible to breaking and splitting...
Sarah P goes freebie hunting again!
Review of Aveda Skin Firming/Toning Agent by
sarahpervin
Advantages: it was free! Refreshes and tones
Disadvantages: Expensive
...Yay this isn’t an Avon review, impressed…..you should be! Well let me start by telling you how I got hold of this fantastic product. My local Aveda salon were holding a charity event in aid of cancer and aveda had kindly donated goodie bags if you paid £2 to go in a raffle and towards charity. I had helped out most of the day and the salon owner jenni stuck a couple of extras in my goodie bag and this was one of them and it costs a whopping £12!!! So as you can imagine I was well chuffed!
Who are Aveda?
Aveda was founded in 1978 (my birth year!) my an active environmentalist called Horst M. Rechelbacher. Horst M. Rechelbacher was also a business leader, author and artist. He was born in Austria and was the son of a herbalist and naturist he began training in the beauty and salon industry at just 14 years old...
Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo
Review of Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo by
chris706
Advantages: Makes your hair smell and feel fantastic
Disadvantages: Can be pricey.
...Aveda makes a large range of hair care products. They are not tested upon animals and are made from natural ingredients.
I have already tried the Aveda range before, and was impressed by this product when I saw it on QVC. You can also buy it from Aveda hair salons and over the internet from Aveda.com.
This is a pricey product. It comes in a range of sizes from 250ml to a full litre pump bottle. Prices start at about £10 to £40 for the litre pump. However, it is economical - a little goes a long way. I have a friend who bought the litre bottle and it lasted for 6 months of daily use.
I bought the 250ml bottle as part of a special offer that included the conditioner for £20. The secret of the shampoo is that you leave it on for a few minutes for the moisturising benefits of the Sap Moss to take effect before you wash it off...
Aveda Scalp Benefits Shampoo
Review of Aveda Scalp Benefits Balancing Shampoo by
rgreen5
Advantages: Cleans and conditions hair fantastically. Smells gorgeous. Made from natural ingredients.
Disadvantages: Slightly more pricey than some other brands (but worth it)
...After years of searching for a product which would properly clean my very oily hair I was recommended this product by my local Aveda retailer. It is fantastic! After just one wash three people commented on how shiny my hair was and I have had nothing but compliments ever since! After using this product in combination with the Scalp Benefits Conditioner for over a year my hair is in great condition even though I blow dry and straighten (using super hot GHD straighteners) every day! And where I was having to wash my hair every morning it now lasts a couple of days before it needs to be washed again. The product is all natural and has a gorgeous dandilion and burdock smell. Well done Aveda for this wonderful product!...
Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo - Great for thick hair
Review of Aveda - Brilliant Range by
Bertie2000
Advantages: Great for thick hair
Disadvantages: Hard to get out of the tube , needs a bit of work to lather up
...I was given a 125ml tube of Aveda's Sap Moss Shampoo by a friend. I have long, thick hair with a tendency towards dryness and split ends - and I am in my 40s so have a weather eye on the grey coming through .I have abused my locks with colour for a few years now!(I am female by the way!)
This shampoo was a revelation! It's quite hard to get out of the tube and doesn't lather up very much so you could be mislead into thinking it isn't really working. Persevere ! After I had had a good go at lathering and then rinsed it off (adding a bog standard conditioner after) - I then left my hair to dry. Well - what a surprise - my hair had more body and softness than it's had in ages. Not overly shiney but much more manageable and with great texture. Also the split ends seemed to have all but disappeared after use! I put it all down...
Review of Aveda Deep Cleansing Herbal Clay Masque by
ElizaF
Advantages: Works better than any other face mask I have ever used.
Disadvantages: Not for use on very dry skin. Smells really bad at first. Scares the vicar.
...Aveda - Deep Cleansing Herbal Clay Masque
The company behind the products:
********************************
Aveda was founded in 1978 by an Austrian called Horst Rechelbacher. After many years spent as a CEO in the cosmetics industry, Rechelbacher decided to go out on his own. However he wanted to do more than start yet another beauty house, his aims were a little loftier than that. The result was Aveda - a plant-based cosmetics company run on ethical employment principles. All the company’s grooming aids are untested on animals made with ingredients sourced on fair-trade principles.
Today, Aveda are considered the Granddaddy of the organic and ethical beauty business because they laid down the roadmap for others to follow to make a profit in the ‘green’ area of the market.
I don’t have particularly oily skin and I am sure...
Add a bit of restructure to your life
Review of Aveda Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Treatment by
Suzela
Advantages: Sorts out damaged hair brilliantly
Disadvantages: Expensive and if overused can make your hair a bit limp
...formulation was heavily based on plant oils and quinoa protein. The quinoa protein penetrated the hair shaft to help strengthen and repair it from the inside out, whilst phellodendron and barley sealed in the moisture. Castor, jojoba and meadowfoam seed oils where included in the mix to help smooth the hair's surface and add shine.
One thing I do like about Aveda having found out more about the company and its ethics is that it does have a policy of sourcing organic and sustainable ingredients as well as supporting suppliers and growers in their native environments. And this product is no exception. Not only is the quinoa protein and jojoba oil organic but the additional ingredients of lavender, rose geranium and sandalwood all come from sustainable sources. For more about their policies on ingredients and packaging see here www.aveda...
Aveda Loose Powder
Review of Aveda Loose Powder by
merlina
Advantages: great finish
Disadvantages: smallish pot
...This is my new favourite loose powder (which was previously Lancome). What's special about it is that it's the first loose powder which never irritates my skin, even if I don't wear a foundation or base underneath. My guess is that's because Aveda don't use mineral oil in any of their products, unlike most powders on the market. (it does contain talc though, so won't be suitable for those who have a sensitivity to that). The other great thing about this is that it's absolutely compatible with every other foundation I've tried it with - brands ranging from Maybelline to Nars and Boots to Sisley. Most powders work with some brands and not others, but here the colour and texture always stays true....
