...I need a car for my work, we normally lease one through the company but mine had to go back as I had exceeded the mileage limit (120,000 in 4 years, I did 128,000 in 3) There has been a bit of a delay in organising a permanent replacement so I am currently using hire cars through Avis. This review is based on my experience of the Bournemouth branch in Southcote Road, just off the Holdenhurst road. Avis don't like to take the mileage on their cars much over 13,000, so I get the opportunity to change mine on a regular basis and I am always driving a relatively new car. The first car was a Renault Megane Estate, about which I have already written, I am now on a Vauxhall Zafira. ...We had prebooked a Ford Focus estate online with Avis. We arrived mid afternoon and had to wait 30 mins to get seen as they were so busy and obviously not enough staff on duty. The car was in a multi-storey car park about 200 yards away from the main terminal but the directions given were not that clear. No one mentioned finding a lift that worked and going down to the basement level. The car park lift was tiny and I could only just get myself and the luggage trolley into it. My wife and baby had to wait for the lift to come back before they could use it. The rental parking is the basement. The car to begin with was not where the rep said it was so I had to walk around the car park pressing the key remote control looking for flashing lights. I get very little time to come on Ciao and didn't even know there were 2 guestbooks. I had never looked in the private one. Avis Car Rental - Dublin, Ireland city centre

Advantages: Good selection, availability, location and helpful staff
Disadvantages: Don't let them try and charge you for extra fuel

...I recently hired a car for 4 days from Avis from their Dublin, Ireland, city centre location. I found the Avis website pleasant to navigate and I was not asked for any unreasonable or excessive information. The car selection and availability was good, especially given my short notice and the fact that it's peak season. To Avis's credit they did not charge me any surcharges for renting from a city centre location - people should be alert when hiring a car in Dublin as of some of Avis's big name competitors are charging a 25euro surcharge for hiring anywhere in Dublin city. Location and shop - The Avis city centre location in Dublin is close to the city centre which was ideal for me. Do Not Forget Your Licence

City Airport Branch - Excellent Experience

...This is a review for the Avis London city airport outlet. I hired a car 2 weeks ago picking up the car at 5pm on friday and dropping it off at 4pm on the sunday. Advantages: User friendly and converts 3GP to AVI with ease

Easy, far less pain in dealing with the M6 on a bank holiday weekend. Well we flew from Southampton and into Manchester where we had booked a car with Avis. The car was prebooked over the internet. The quote was for £64.99 for 3 days. Bargain we thought. When the quote came through we were told that it was an inclusive quote. The reason we booked with Avis in the first place was because they were linked with BA Exec club and that would entitle me to extra miles.
