...I have been an Avon representative when I was 13. It was probably one of the worst jobs I ever did. I had to try so hard to get sales by pushing brochures through peoples door then come back to see if there were any orders. At this time I earned 10 % on every commission and my mum had to pay up front for the orders with a cheque. Then I had to go back to collect the cash and deliver the goods. A lot of the time people were not in or they did not have the money so I had to call back numerous times before I could deliver the goods. Some people decided they didn't want the goods when they came so I lost commission. I had to earn over £100 before I could get paid any commission and most of the time I didn't reach that so I would put an order in myself. ...I started working as an Avon representative in September last year. I wouldn't say it was about the money, although making a bit extra is always appealing. It was for a bit of a hobby as well, as I didn't think it would make me rich. I looked up Avon's website www.avon.uk.com and found a contact number for them 0845 601 4040, phoned and said I was interested in becoming a rep and they sent an area manager to my house about 3 days later. She went through what Avon was about - affordable beauty products delivered to people basically, but i'm sure we've all heard of the Avon brand, so that sums it up really. Advantages: Nice Stuff, Good Discount, Meet New People!
Disadvantages: They Always Get Our Orders Wrong!

...~ How I Got Started ~ Well as I am too young to do Avon on my own, my mum has it in her name. She hands out the brochures and collects then in, while I put the orders online and sort them out when they come through. I work under my Auntie who has like 7 others so she makes a lot. To start handing out your brochures, all you have to do, is; Buy brochures online, but for the first two campaigns you get the books free from your area manager. Buy some order forms or as above get them off your area manager. Fill out the order forms, stating your name, contact detail, campaign number and when the order has to be in for. Slip the order forms in to the brochures and hand them out to basically everyone you know that doesnt already get avon, and even people in your neighbour-hood. I decided to have a go at it when money was getting tighter and I needed something to fit around my full-time job and my (then) 1 year old. i was lucky to have a very good friend who was an Avon sales leader who signed me up and gave me 40 brochures, order forms, a few other pieces of stationery for the first 2 campaigns to get me started. Advantages: Quality products at reasonable prices
Disadvantages: Sometimes takes a while to deliver products

...I used to be an avon rep. I sold avon products for about 1 year, (until i got bored) I found it a good way to earn a little extra cash whilst I was studying at college. I could work my own hours, I got to meet people, and its actually good exercise, by the time you walk for miles to chase up all your orders!!! A lot of people do not realise it is a good way to earn money, people actually make a living from selling products, weither it be road shows or the traditional house visits. Avon creates a lot of jobs for people, which has a great money making oportunity. ...I have just become an Avon Rep as i wanted to earn some extra money and wanted to work from home. I had a sales leader come around and she brought with her my first campaign which was about half a box of brochures and 2 packs of 50 order forms. I was given a calling book where you write in what sreet you have been to and the house number so you don't forget where you have been to and i was given a yellow book where you tick the boxes on the first page why you want to join Avon and over the page you write in what percentage you get from your orders. Becoming an Avon Rep i get the first three campaigns for free there is no outlay as you pay what you owe Avon in your first two campaigns you get given a calling area near you to take your brochures around and also how much that area is worth. Disadvantages: Prices are never the same from one book to the next, you may buy a product and find it half price in the next book.

...Avon, it seems, has a somewhat stuffy reputation, as I found out last year when I announced I was now an "Avon Lady". After all the 'ding-dong avon calling' jokes had died down & I set about actually selling the products I found I was pleasantly surprised. Avon has changed, but its reluctance to advertise means it has still failed to shake off its 'stuck in the dark ages' reputation. Products I found particularly pleasing included nearly all the items in the "Avon Basics" range. The "Really Clean Cleansing Gel" is by far the best facial wash I have ever used, it left my combination skin feeling squeaky clean without that tight, dry feeling you so often get when using a facial wash. Likewise, the "Perfect Day Moisture Cream" offered just the right level of moisture without any greasiness. Unbelievably these products can be purchased...
