SPF 45, cheap sun protection lotion.

Advantages: Cheap, good quality.
Disadvantages: Hard to find.

...I am reviewing SPF 45 not SPF 8 as in the picture, Ciao will not/cannot accept new product proposals at the moment so this seems to be the only way of doing this. I know some of you will gleefully 'jump' on this as being in the wrong place, go ahead, feel free. Surprisingly Ciao also do not ask at the bottom if it is SPF 45, they only go up to SPF 30, c'mon Ciao, sort it out, people are leaving in droves. Never heard of No-Ad products? Not surprising as they do not advertise, yet have been going sucessfully in the U.S since 1960, you can get more info on the company, what they do, what they believe in and so on here: http://www.no-ad.com/ No-Ad factor 45 is as simple as you might think, a factor 45 sun tan lotion, or to be correct 'Sun Protective Lotion'. As sun tan lotions go it is perfectly adequate, containing pretty much all...

Avon Bronze Kids waterproof Sun Lotion Factor 50

Advantages: Don't have to keep re-applying, waterproof, factor 50
Disadvantages: Quite thick so hard to rub in and tube could be bigger!

...Seen as it's July and were having a `heat wave'!! it;s even more important to protect our kids from the sun. I have, like most parents, tried and tested numerous sun creams, from the really, really expensive to the well, not so expensive that you buy on holiday cos youv'e run out!!. The only, and I mean only, one that I have found to do the job of protecting my kids is the Avon `Bronze Kids', Sun Lotion. It's brilliant, not only is it factor 50, but it is fully waterproof, which I can deffinately vouch for as I had a `splodge' of it on my arm, and when getting in the shower about 2 hours later, couldn't remember what this was and could not get it off, I thought I had caught some skin disease!!. I am so confident that this works that I only have to apply it once to both my children when they are playing in the garden all day...

sun creams for vampires.

Advantages: easy to apply, nice smell
Disadvantages: bad packaging, not hypo-allergenic

...tried I could probably create a few more freckles, but I’m not sure that would be very attractive. So like I say, I know a few things about sun cream – especially high factor sun cream and Johnson’s “ultra” sun block is nothing to write home about. My favourite all-time sun cream is Vichy Capital Soleil, factor 60. But that’s not listed, so I’ll compare and contrast the two under this product heading. I hope there’s something for all you sun-worshippers out there too! ~~~The Science ~~~ As everyone knows by now, sunbathing for hours on end without protection is not good for you. The sun’s light contains two damaging forms of ultraviolet rays – UVA and UVB. UVB rays are the ones that cause most sunburn (and tanning) and skin cancer: the Sun protection factor quoted...

Nivea Sun Lotion for Children

Advantages: Great product, nice smell, lasts a long time
Disadvantages: Can be expensive if bought singularly

...thinking £5.50 a bottle sounded a lot more reasonable! Now for the cream itself It isn't too runny which is great when applying to a very little baby as my son was last year. It had a very nice pleasant fragrance, which I can't liken to anything else to be honest! The cream is a creamy colour and even on my son's dark skin it was still well absorbed and he didn't look too patchy! The cream comes in a 200ml bottle, which is a nice colbalt blue colour with a bright yellow flip top. It has the Nivea Sun logo at the top in the middle of the bottle, with CHILDREN'S LOTION written across the middle in coloured letters. Just underneath that in an orange dot, it has the SPF (Sun Protection Factor) written in white letters. The bottle also states it has "Immediate Protection". Long-Lasting Water Resistance, and UVA/UVB Protection System. The back...

Avon Almond Body Lotion Soft as a Baby's Bum

Advantages: Leaves skin soft and supple with a great fragrance.
Disadvantages: A bit pricey but look out for the special offers.

...I have hunted for a long time for a body lotion I really liked and could in fact start a shop with the amount of reject bottles in my dressing table. I decided to try this one after receiving a recommendation from a friend. At £2.75 (normal price) for 250mls I thought it was a bit pricey - but Avon always have special offers on. When I purchased it the deal was Buy 1 Get 1 Free. Not bad, I thought if it works. This is the only size of bottle that this product comes in. The first thing that struck me about it was the smell - a lovely fresh refreshing smell that really made the nosebuds go. As I applied the lotion it was like rubbing silk over my skin. It was so thick and creamy. I'll wait and see, I thought. After application the only way I can describe my skin is "as soft as a baby's bum". I have never looked back...

Tesco's Finest Sun Lotion

Advantages: Really works and hydrates your skin - so no peeling
Disadvantages: Cant think of any

...After the brief few days of sun we had last week I made the fatal mistake of falling asleep in the sun in my back garden and as you can guess I got sun burnt, I didn?t really have any sun cream etc in the house so popped down to Tesco?s to see what I could get my hands on only to discover one of the best after sun lotions I have ever used. Tesco's Finest After Sun Lotion was on offer for half price so i though that I would purchase it and give it ago and I can honestly say that it worked. Packaging It comes in a blue 200ml pump bottle which is blue in colour with little stars on it. Product: The bottle says that it rehydrates your skin for 12 hours, contains antioxidants, nourishes, soothes and calms your skin, and it did exactly that for me. The product itself was easily absorbed and didn?t leave your skin feeling sticky...

"Get the most out of the sun"

Advantages: Good protection and moisturising
Disadvantages: not for people who want a higher SPF

...Piz Buin In sun lotion SPF 10 ?GET THE MOST OUT OF LIFE IN THE SUN SAFELY?. This is one of the products I have used before when in the sun, and Piz Buin being one of my preferred makes, I know I will probably like this. WHAT IT DOES... This offers SPF 10 which is considered low but which I find is fine for my first week or so in the sun. It is UVA/UVB with helioplex which apparently provides photostable broad spectrum protection, whatever that is! It also contains Vitamin E which the information on the back of the bottle tells me will neutralise free radicals which cause premature skin ageing. The lotion is also water and sweat resistant, whcih is a claim most of these kind of products make but one which I am not entirely sure of. PRODUCT AND PACKAGING... The 200ml plastic bottle is the usual Piz Buin brown...

Boots Soltan Sun Care Lotion - SPF50+

Advantages: High protection and mostly reliable
Disadvantages: Sometimes hard to get just the right amount

...I spent 6 weeks in California this June and July, so went prepared with lots of sun cream as I'm known to burn easily - especially my face, shoulders, and feet. I chose SPF 50+ from the Boots Soltan range, as it was cheaper than the same SPF in other brands (on BOGOFF at the time) and offered the highest SPF available. I also took Boots Soltan After sun with me, but that's a separate review. ~ - ~ Soltan ~ - ~ Soltan is the Boots own brand sun cream and as such is only available from Boots stores. The sun protection products are in yellow/orange bottles and the after sun range is in a 'cooling' blue color. There are both Lotions and Sprays available, and also several variations of the basic sun cream - kids, baby, wasp and insect repellent, extra tanning, and some others. I used the original kind. The lotion comes in 200ml...

Nivea sunscreen - scorching!

Advantages: Moisturising, Stops burning, Smells nice
Disadvantages: None I can think of

...I have always liked Nivea products; I particularly like the way they smell and this sun tan lotion is no exception. The smell reminds me of summer, which I'm sure you'll agree is no bad thing. It isn't an easy smell to describe, kind of clean and caring and like holidays, but if you have ever smelt a Nivea product then you will know what I am talking about ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why do you need suntan cream? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You need sun protection cream to block the Ultraviolet A (UVA) and Ultraviolet B (UVB) rays that the sun naturally gives out. UVB rays are the ones most of us know about - they are the ones that cause us to burn (or tan). They are blocked somewhat by the ozone layer, but as it has been getting thinner we are becoming more exposed to these rays. You should also look for a sunscreen that...

bargain after sun

Advantages: cheap, effective
Disadvantages: plain packaging may put some people off

...We were shopping in Asda, when my boyfriend said he wanted some After Sun as he had got sunburnt on his arms. We headed for the sun care section, and he chose Asda Smart Price after sun lotion as it was the cheapest one there. To be honest, I wasn't convinced this would be any good and offered to buy a more expensive named brand, but he insisted that this one would be fine, so that's what we bought. A few weeks later and I had to use this myself as I'm very pale and managed to get slightly burnt on my shoulders even though I'd only been in the sun 10 minutes! ~**~Packaging~**~ Smart Price is Asda's economy range, and like all other products in this range, the packaging is plain white and simply has 'after sun lotion' written on the front in blue - no fancy writing or pictures. The bottle has a small, flip top cap, which when...
