...I have recently had a week off work and have so many reviews I have planned to write but I am currently waiting for Ciao to put up the categories for me, so in the meantime I have decided to write this review about Avon. Avon started out as the California Perfume Company, the company was founded by Mr David McConnell of New York USA. In 1939 he renamed the company Avon as a tribute to his favourite playwright William Shakespeare and Stratford Upon Avon. Avon has come along way since those early days and is now a well respected Company with customers in 143 countries including Australia, Taiwan, Germany, Greece, France, United Kingdom and more recently Singapore, South Korea and Morocco. ...My story with Avon begins on a warm and sunny day in September 2005. To be more precise, the 22.09.2005, which must have been a Wednesday as I had my younger daughter with me and Wednesday is her "day off" from the nursery which she attends 3 times a week on a 3 hour basis. I remember that we dropped of the older one at 9.00 o'clock at her primary school and then went back home to do some work in the garden. Which ended in some rather wild games that involved a ball, a water-pistol, a set of bucket and spade and lots of rolling around in the grass. My little one loves Wednesdays as this is the day where she has mummy all to herself... When it was time to pick up my older one at lunchtime (she's in the reception class and only started full-days in January) I didn't have much time to tidy us up, as we always get a little bit lost... ...I have grown up in an Avon family. Everyone around me sold Avon or had something to do with it. My mum is now an Area sales Manager. So what is Avon all about I hear you cry? I’m sure most of you already know but for those of you who don’t, Avon cosmetics are a direct selling cosmetics company. Avon was first known as the California Perfume Company. ...I have been an Avon representative when I was 13. It was probably one of the worst jobs I ever did. I had to try so hard to get sales by pushing brochures through peoples door then come back to see if there were any orders. At this time I earned 10 % on every commission and my mum had to pay up front for the orders with a cheque. Then I had to go back to collect the cash and deliver the goods. A lot of the time people were not in or they did not have the money so I had to call back numerous times before I could deliver the goods. Some people decided they didn't want the goods when they came so I lost commission. I had to earn over £100 before I could get paid any commission and most of the time I didn't reach that so I would put an order in myself. ...Up until a few months ago I used to buy a lot of Avon products from one of my friends, as she was an agent. However, after my husband and I moved to a new house a few miles away in the country I wasn’t able to see my friend so often and shortly after she decided to stop working for Avon due to family commitments anyway. Not wanting to go through the rigmarole of finding another agent, or Avon Lady as they were once known, in the area, my friend suggested I look at the website as they deliver your order directly to your door and you can order whenever you want without having to rely on the agent turning up at infrequent intervals. A month or so ago I decided to throw out a lot of my old makeup that I had hovering around my dressing table for ages and had probably reached the end of its shelf life by about 10 years. ...The thought of getting up someday's when my alarm goes off at 5 in the morning literally used to make me sick. I just wished that I could work from home, but had no idea how to get started and the thought of giving up a job which pays really well scared the life out of me. ...When I was at college a few years ago I was an Avon representative. I loved it, selling a great brand, making extra money and using the great products myself. As I was younger I did tend to spend my commission on products for myself so didnt make that much. I gave up after a year because I had just finished college course and needed to focus on my career. Right so I am now in a full time job - coffee shop manaher. I work 39 hrs + each work and yet I still want more! ...I like Avon Wilderness for Men Shower Gel. Well, if I didn't like it, I wouldn't buy it, would I?! I Had some Avon Wilderness for Men some time ago, when the Avon Wilderness for Men range had just been brought out. A few weeks before Christmas we had a visit form a new Avon lady who had just started up in our new housing estate. A modern housing estate full of young professional couples? Ideal pickings for a new Avon lady, I would have thought? And so, nearly £30.00 later, it proved! (And I bought my stuff at special offer prices! The catalogue had a scratch and sniff feature on several pages and one of the pages that featured the scratch and sniff facility was for Avon Wilderness for Men. ...I used to be an avon rep. I sold avon products for about 1 year, (until i got bored) I found it a good way to earn a little extra cash whilst I was studying at college. I could work my own hours, I got to meet people, and its actually good exercise, by the time you walk for miles to chase up all your orders!!! A lot of people do not realise it is a good way to earn money, people actually make a living from selling products, weither it be road shows or the traditional house visits. Avon creates a lot of jobs for people, which has a great money making oportunity. Okay, so thats my first benefit of why I strongly recommend Avon, I recommend it because of the products they actually sell. ...I am an Avon representative and before i go on, please note i'm not writing this to advertise or promote any of their products for fear of infringement of any kind! I am meerly writing this from a selling point of view to let you know of the 'pros and cons'. GETTING STARTED I first decided to start selling avon a few months before christmas for the chance to earn a bit of extra cash for partying. I started in october 2006.
