Citroen AX GT

Advantages: Cheap tax and cheap to run

...Just over a year ago I decided to buy my boyfriend a car. I managed to get my hands on a black J-reg Citroen AX GT with around 78000 miles. It was a bargain at only £200. I thought the car was great to start with, however my boyfriend was almost in tears the first time he saw the car. He thought it was awful and a total waste of money. Citroen AX - One of the real hot hatches

Advantages: Ecomomy , superb performance , handling , lightweight , small , very cheap
Disadvantages: niggles mainly but if i have to , slight rust in small places and its electrics

...First of all i would like to say that these are one of the best cars out there , both for economy and performance depending upon the model purchased. I own two ax's , one is a 1.1 salsa model and the other is a 1.4 gt (carb), both models are on a g plate (1990) , the economy and drive of the one litre is fantastic , low tax , low insurance , excellent return on fuel , with the only two downsides being , long journeys are a bit of a longshot , due to its small engine capacity will struggle with the distance and constant high speeds will generate quite a bit of heat. The GT model is honestly one of the better hot hatchbacks available , it offers once again excellent fuel economy and the twin choke carb 1400 cc engine offers superb performance for its capacity due to its lightweight chassis. Nippy AX

Advantages: Cheap on tax, insurance and fuel.

...Hi, I bought a Citroen AX Echo 1.1 a few years ago just before car prices went down and it cost me a whopping £4000 for an M reg which at the time was about 4 years old. The fuel economy on this little machine was phenomenal, I was getting around 60 - 70 mpg even on the motorway. As you can tell just by looking at one of these they have a very individual identity. I desperatly wanted to modify my car and bought this because it is a 'hot hatch' and thought it would be easy however there is only a hand full of people who do modifications for the AX, and I bought the 5 door rather than the 3 door. These cars are very fun to drive the handling on them is up to scratch and the performance is'nt to bad even for a 1.1. Vango Venture 500

Advantages: Good Size, Brilliant Value, High Quality, Sturdy, Easy to Erect
Disadvantages: None that I can think of!

...I purchased my Vango Venture 500 towards the end of 2006. For the bargain price of £85.00 and I haven't looked back since! Numourus camping trips have bee happily spent in this tent and it will see many more! The frame consists of 2 large poles crossing over to make the main dome, and a 3rd smaller pole creating a loop for the porch area. Once erect, with all pegs and guide ropes in place the tent is extremely strong and stable. We have camped in strong winds and strong rain and it has stood strong throughout. As long as there are two of you, erecting the tent is a swift and easy process. Funnily enough you tend to erect it faster when its raining! And packing it back into the bag is an art the first time but you tend to remember how to do it from then onwards and it's easy enough. When packaged, the tent is relatively heavy...

Panasonic PT AX 100 E

...Updated review. I have been using the Panasonic PT AX 100E as my main TV, in conjunction with a freeview box and a DVD player, for just over a year now. I paid £900 for it then, but the price has dropped and even the improved PT AX200 can now be bought for about £700. The reason for the low rating is because of it's unreliability and Panasonic's inability to fix it when it went wrong, as described below. In all other respects it is a very good projector. The picture quality is extremely good in a dark room and quite watchable during the day even with the curtains open for all but the darkest movies. In bright conditions the colours can become a little washed-out although there are various viewing options on the remote control to compensate a little. For some very dark films however you should wait until the room can be blacked out...

You are more than likely going to want something smaller so it is cheap to insure, and something to get you from A to B. The Citroen AX,lets face it, is not a triumph of car design in the 20th Century. However, they are everywhere. This makes them cheap. I got mine for £300 from a private dealer, and have not had to spend to much more on it. They are reliable, and because they are mostly small engines, they are very cheap to insure. As a young driver, premiums are already high, but with this car, the small engine, low value and the fact that it is hardly going to get it stolen, means insurance premiums are lowered. The LG Cookie KP500 is a good quality, touchscreen mobile

Advantages: Very good value for money, good build quality, good touchscreen, decent (3mp) camera
Disadvantages: Battery life (and meter) is not very good, camera does not have flash, limited games and apps

It was very good value for money and the build quality is very good (although for some reason the pink version is more 'plasticky' than the black one). The features on the mobile are what you would expect on a mobile in the price range of the KP500; not too bad but could do with more applications and games. I have however had to send it back once for repair because of a software problem; whenever I went to the music player the mobile froze. This was solved by a firmware update. The 3 inch (not too big, not too small) touchscreen is also very good for what it cost; it is responsive but not as good as the iPhone. Another problem is the battery life.
