Another Bargin!
Review of Axis & Allies (PC) by
CliveS
Advantages: Clear, easy to follow rules with interesting film clips
Disadvantages: Once you've got used to the game it can quickly get boring
...I bought Axis and Allies from a bargin bucket and have been addicted ever since! The game gives you the choice of controlling any of the five major powers in world war two (UK, US, Russia, Japan and Germany) - or all of them! The game play follows the board game and there are various patches that can be downloaded via the net to add interest.
The main disadvantage with the game is once you have become used to the tactics of the pre-programmed enemy (eg - you're the axis powers and the computer is the allies) the tactics become easy to prevent. The patches mentioned earlier help give a new focus to prevent boredom at this stage but advanced tactics by the programmer would have been more challenging....

My personal opinion of Axis and Allies
Review of Axis & Allies by
Lord_Karskin
Advantages: Very well balanced rules
Disadvantages: Time factor for games
...Axis and Allies is a very time consuming game. Be sure to allow upwards of 4 hours for a complete game, longer if playing as teams, and I have played in games which have lasted up to 18 hours.
Set in the Second World War it pits two teams against each other with the Axis of Germany and Japan against the Allies of the USA,Russia and Great Britain.
It is a game for adults or older children with 13 to 14 years of age being a minimum due to the length of time spent in playing and the relative complexity of the rules when compared to games such as Monopoly etc.
Note that the rating of average complexity to set up is for games of this type. If compared to a game like Monopoly it is a lot more involved in the setup stage.
Having said that I still recommend this game to anyone interested in strategy. It has a luck element but this is minor...

Six-axis is nice, but lacks rumble feedback!
Review of Sony Official PS3 SIXAXIS Wireless Controller by
KieH22
Advantages: Long-lasting RECHARGEABLE Battery life, familiar user-interface and tilt-sensivity
Disadvantages: Lack of rumble feedback and build quality could be much better.
...Sine buying the Playstation 3, I have had and own three six-axis controllers. The first of which came with the games console itself.
First impressions of the controller, were that it was both light, comfortable and stylish. The controller itself, is not as opaquely black as it appears in the many images provided on online shopping websites. It is, in fact, semi-translucent, which I myself, think is a nice effect, rather then the solid black colour of the previous Playstation 2's controller.
In terms of build quality, the six-axis isn't the most amazing product. The buttons located on the topside of the orginal controller that came with my Playstation 3 console, fell apart within days of using it. Not because of lack of care but because of the lack of care taken manufacturing the product. I then had to buy a replacement, which...

TOTAL WAR STRETCHES THE MIND
Review of Axis and Allies by
johnstevens
Advantages: the pure playability of this game is one of its good points, the ability to pull of the most amazing stunts
Disadvantages: When you send loads of troops in to get slaugtered by sub-stadered troops is the MOST humiliating thing that can happen to you
...INTRODUCTION
it is the spring of 1942. the world is at war. five world powers are struggling for supremacy. you and your opponents control the military and economic destiny of one or more of these countries. the Axis powers are Germany and Japan. challenging there expansionsim are the Allied powers of the United Kingdom, the USSR ant the United states. You must work together as a team with the country or countries in your alliance. in this game, you'll discover that co-operation is just as important as tactical manovering.
The game is set on a map, with each country contributing to be "protected" by you. in this game you will find out that not only do you have to be a military stratagist but also a prudent economist.=, as without money you can't buy arms, and without arms you can't win the war....

Axis: Bold As Love A More Mature Album
Review of Axis: Bold As Love [Remastered] - Jimi Hendrix Experience (The) by
nijvajama
Advantages: All Of It
Disadvantages: None Of It
...Overall: Axis is a great example of Jimi Hendrix's development in playing and his ideas as it is a much more mature album than his earlier works. It is well worth the money; surprisingly good value.
Full: The Jimi Hendrix Experience followed up their magical debut with another masterpiece. Axis: Bold As Love is a psychedelic gem that opens with the bizarre, feedback explosion of "EXP". "Spanish Castle Magic" is a great song with some superb guitar while "Wait Until Tomorrow" has an almost pop sound with a catchy as hell chorus. Mr. Hendrix's music has always had a socially conscious bent, but "If 6 Was 9" is one of his most overt social statements, with its spacey sound and its pro hippie lyrics. "You Got Me Floatin'" has a propulsive beat, "Castle Made Of Sand" has a quiet sound with some very poignant lyrics and "She's So...

Pass us a Bud!!
Review of Budweiser Lager by
Janbo25
Advantages: Smooth Crisp Flavour - Easy To Drink
Disadvantages: Perhaps it is too easy to drink!!
...Budweiser is a lovely drink that I find lovely, crisp and refreshing and not too strong. I have to admit though that do prefer it in a bottle rather than from a can or on draught because I think that the flavour is a lot more crisp and when I've had it on draught it seems to be a whole lot stronger!
Buds labelling is a great feature, especially because it clearly states its "Born On" date on which it was bottled and then its best before date so you are guaranteed a refreshing drink thats not been left standing either in the shops or in the pubs for donkeys years.
Budweiser is very widely available both in cans and bottles, I personally shop at Tesco's and I know that is available in 207ml, 330ml & 660ml along with 440ml cans and they stock many varieties of pack sizes. Because of it's availability you quite often find that certain pack...

Six Axis Dosent Provide A BIg Shock!
Review of Sony Official PS3 SIXAXIS Wireless Controller by
Luke180
Advantages: Six Axis Feature Is Good!
Disadvantages: Dualshock!
...The PS3 Six Axis Wireless Controller is a revolution in the gaming but is not as good as the wii remote and how it reacts to the game. I am glad that they kept the design the same but feel that it should have the range of features the wii does to make it even better.
I feel the best part is the fact that it is rechargeable and will last for about 10 hours of game play and can be charged from the PS3 system in less than an hour. It is really top quality and a great revolution in the world of gaming.
The new trigger buttons are a really great addition and the games like FIFA 2008 change the button to R2 as sprint because of the ease and control that you now have over the trigger button.
The poor feature of the controller is the dual shock which really does need to be included in the new version of the controller but the cost maybe...

Labtec axis 301
Review of Labtec Axis 301 by
Rabid
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: None
...Being an online gamer i decided to go out and purchase a headphone set so i could talk in person to my fellow gamers instead of typing into the games chat all the time (which often resulted in me letting my team down as i would get shot whilst typing)
The main criteria for my purchase was...
1. Needed to be hands free with a mic attached to the headset.
2. Needed to have a long enough cable to reach my sound card without being streched.
3. Needed to be cheap, i didnt want to pay silly prices for something i would only use 3 times a week!!.
Enter the Labtec axis 301, it is all of the above, it was simple to setup and came provided with a 2.4 metre cable which is ample for me.
The product also supports speech recognition although i havnt had the oppturnity to test the accuracy of this feature yet and a 1 years manufacture guarentee...

Excellent For Strategy Beginners
Review of Axis & Allies (PC) by
Atomcreator
Advantages: A Faithful rendition of the popular board game
Disadvantages: Poor A.I.
...Today, there are literally scores of real-time strategy games ( RTS ) to chose from. The graphics and sound are now entering new realms of believability and realism and can be extremely frenetic to actually play.
In my honest opinion, I often find these to be simply TOO frantic to be worthwhile. The endless 'clickfest' which often ensues is not really strategy or tactics as such, but just an exercise in speed of mouse, hand eye co-ordination and maybe having played that particular mission 50 times before so gaining an intimate knowledge of the game map.
AXIS and ALLIES on the other hand belongs to that much-maligned genre, the turn based strategy, and I'd like to point out that I think this is where REAL strategy exists. It is a simple global scale depiction of the events of World War 2, involving the AXIS forces - Germany and Japan...

The world at war
Review of Axis and Allies by
liquidburner2002
Advantages: Amount of playable pieces, Controlling very powerful armies the way you want to
Disadvantages: Cost, Can be hard to know wheather you are playing it correctly
...The year is 1942 in the middle of world war 2. Five armies are looking for control the Axis (Germany and Japan) and the Allies (UK, America and Russia) only one can control the world so you can change the result of world war 2. This game is the ultimate in strategy as between 2-5 people can take part either taking control of just one army or the whole of the Allies or Axis. With over 200 pieces included with the game you can tell the action will be frantic (and it is). You take it in turns to place new pieces on the board, move your pieces and attack the enemy. Sounds simple? Well it is not with lots of different ways to attack and move you are spoilt for choice. Each of the countries start with different amounts of money which can be altered as you take over countries belonging to your opponants. Let your allies watch your back...
