Dundonald Castle
Advantages: Interesting history
Disadvantages: None
...Dundonald Castle is a ruin in the Ayrshire district of Scotland. It was built for Robert II in 1371 and was home to many Scottish kings over the years.

The easiest way to get to the castle is to drive, following the A78 to Irving and then following the signs to Dundonald. You can also get to the town on public transport, buses stop within a few minutes? walk of the visitors centre and there are train services to local towns, and from there you can get a bus or a taxi.

Ayrshire what a revelation.
Advantages: Scenery, friendly people and empty roads
Disadvantages: May be too quiet for some
...A weeks walking holiday in Scotland with my mother and mother-in-law .. it had seemed a good idea when we booked it but as the date got nearer I started to panic wondering just what we were going to do in Scotland if the weather was bad. Looking at the map didn?t help as there didn?t seem to be much of interest in the area.
We had booked a week in a bungalow at Brunston Castle resort at Dailly in Southern Ayrshire. Some of my panic subsided when we arrived as the bungalow was spacious (3 double bedrooms) and very clean and well equipped. Following our welcome meeting we started to investigate the various leaflets in the reception area and to our surprise and my enormous relief we discovered a host of walks and places to visit.
I thought I would write this review of our week so that anyone else thinking of a holiday in southern...

Lochside House Hotel, Ayrshire, Scotland
Advantages: perfect service, helpful staff, lovely food and rooms
Disadvantages: can be somewhat expensive but you will get great service
...Lochside House Hotel
Located in the western Ayrshire, ¾ distance on A76 from Cumnock to New Cumnock lies the family hotel Lochside. As the name says, it's in the vicinity of two lakes, one of them Loch of the Lowes.
This hotel is owned by the Kyle family, who have purchased the property almost 10 years ago when it was in the state of a more or less ruined old farmhouse and they have advanced and refusbished it into a 3-star hotel which has to offer much more than just bed and breakfast.
I have worked in this hotel but it wouldn't be fair to tell you the Kyles' knowhow, now would it? I always thought it must be a pleasure to stay at Lochside as the service as well as staff was always brilliant, rooms well furnished and properly cleaned, menu vast and lots to choose from, also I've seen many guests coming back and a number...

Seamill Hydro ~ the place to stay!
Advantages: Caters for all ages, disabilities and interests
Disadvantages: Can be a bit expensive
...Looking for a luxurious and picturesque place to stay with lots to do for all the family? Look no further, the Seamill Hydro Hotel in Ayrshire has it all! We stayed here for two nights in May 2005 and were exceedingly impressed.
*** HOTEL OVERVIEW ***
The Scottish 19th century hotel is on the edge of the coast with views of the Isle of Arran and you can access the beach directly from the hotel grounds. The hotel highly promotes both relaxation and health/well being within a high quality, luxury environment.
*** LOCATION ***
Situated on the A78, from the south it is ½ mile within Seamill itself. From Glasgow, you would follow A737 and would pick up brown signs to the hotel.
*** FACILITIES ***
At this point, it'd be easier to put what they don't have! They have two restaurants, one main and a bistro. Children eat free in...

Tesco cafe in Irvine is NOT good value for money
Advantages: Adequate seating and airy atmosphere overlooking the main store
Disadvantages: Poor quality of food, service and hygiene
...As a regular of Tesco in Irvine, Ayrshire I frequently visit the cafe and thought I would share my experiences with you. First of all, the cafe is not directly employed by Tescos but Eurest.
First impressions are reasonable - adequate seating and clean, however, once you have arrived at the food counter disappointment sets in. There is a severe lack of choice in sandwiches, toasties and hot food.
Breakfast is served apparently until 11.30am, however, more often than not by 10.55am there are no link sausages left which in my opinion is unacceptable.
Moving on to the coffee machine. There is an ongoing problem with this machine in that it hardly ever works. You are very lucky if you enter the cafe and don't see a notice on the machine saying "temporarily out of order". A jar of ordinary, cheap coffee is placed for you to...

We Are, Like Lightening, Surrounded
Advantages: Decent lyrical and musical content that highlighted the next step on the bands journey
Disadvantages: Probably didn't get the attention it deserved
...While many will assume that Biffy Clyro's introduction to the main stream in 2007 that they were a completely new band. This couldn't be further from the truth. The 3 piece from Ayrshire in Scotland actually formed in 1995 as 15 year olds and started to record and tour albums. In fact Puzzle was to be the bands 4th studio release. It's the bands 2004 release Infinity Land that will form the topic of this review as it was the first album that brought Biffy to my attention.
The album itself was recorded in Monmouth in Wales as the band tried to create a different sound to the previous two albums. It seen the sound become a little heavier and perhaps a little darker in content but it's a move that seemed to work particularly well. It would far to say that this album changed the bands direction and more importantly the sound that would...

Do it once in your lifetime, especially if you enjoy the outdoors
Advantages: Scenic, relaxing, friendly
Disadvantages: the weather can be a downfall
...This is the only Scottish Island I have set foot on and every time I do it is worth it. The Isle Of Arran is where my father was born and his side of the family reside. As a kid I used to go there every year, sometimes twice a year. Unfortunately I don't get there as much now due to time commitments. It's really a poor excuse as it is not difficult to get there.
The Isle of Arran is situated off the West Coast of Scotland, part of North Ayrshire and has a population of 5000+. It is full of small villages, friendly locals and breathtaking scenery.
*Getting There*
Getting to Arran is very simple and straightforward. A ferry crossing from Ardrossan Harbour to Brodick (Arrans main area) only takes around 55 minutes. The ferry is a large size and never feels overly crowded (unless it's the main holiday season). You can travel...
