Advantages: Stunning looks, stunning looks, stunning looks & superb sound Disadvantages: Difficult to find, some manufacture flaws, small base without the feet
...I found out about these speakers after they stopped making them and had only ever heard rumours or seen pictures of the silver versions. I was thinking about the replacement XT8's but you cannot see the lovely aluminium from the front of the new ones and they are £1,200 more. The silver versions are amongst the best speakers I have ever experienced. The clean retro lines and curves, the bold yellow paper-kevlar mid cone and unlike many others they are quite discrete yet powerful, these are some of the most beautiful speakers I have ever seen. The foot print and look were some of the most important factors in my decision to purchase followed by the quality and reputation B&W manage to maintain. Without the metal feet the base seems smaller and could be knocked over, watch out for parties. Although slim there are 2 bass cones which...

Review of B & W XT4
...I would consider myself, at best, an amatuer reviewer. I recently received my ASW610. Because of stock issues, I first used a ASW600 subbie and this was replaced by the ASW610. I have wooden floors in a 25m2 room, so perhaps I do not get the full benefit of the speaker. Comparing the 2 subbies, I find the ASW610 as good, if not better than the ASW600. It might be smaller, but it performs better. I only set the volume at about 50% which significantly adds to the movie and music expeirence. The subbie gets on with business wihtout overpowering the other components. From a space point of view, it is unsightly and out of the way. I use a Sony STR DA3200 AV receiver with a Denon 1930, B&W 684, HTM62 & LM1 surround speakers. Overall a very good combination....

Review of B & W ASW 610
Advantages: Very good sound for such a small & cheap speaker. Very dynamic & roomy. Disadvantages: Just slightly too bright, no deep bass, no bi-wiring.
...a very good speaker at a reasonable price requires far more skill. A task at which the Hi-Fi brands sold in high street shops usually fail, including such famous names as Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, Yamaha or Technics.
An affordable cure to the typical ailments of a cheap stereo is the B&W DM 302, a speaker for £150 per pair. I bought a pair of these over a year ago as secondary speakers and use them alternatingly in my bedroom and kitchen, as well as for parties.
The DM 302 is the low-cost entry into the world of B&W Speakers, an audiophile brand which produces such legends as the £12,000 Nautilus and is a supplier to many recording studios. Not much of this high-end technology has found its way into the cheap DM 302, but B&W have applied all their skill to build a very good speaker at an almost unbeatable price. This is a small bookshelf...

Review of B&W DM302
Advantages: Absolutely superb midrange frequencies and very smooth treble. Neutral and yet very atmospheric. Beats many speakers at twice its price. Disadvantages: Slight problems with three-dimensional reproduction and upper bass overemphasis. Power-hungry and thus critical with some amplifiers.
...It may happen at parties that you open a door to a side room and wish you hadn't done so, as you may just have invaded the privacy of a couple in action. Yet when my secret love, called CDM 2, engages in the art of lovemaking, I have no scruples to enter the room, take a look, stay and listen to the passionate sounds.
CDM 2, described as a bookshelf loudspeaker by some unromantic individuals, is a noble British lady from the Bowers & Wilkens dynasty (B&W). Her preferred lover is Rotel RA-970BX, an honest and strong amplifier from a side-arm of the same family dynasty. Call that incest if you like, but from my point of view they make a perfect couple.
When at lovemaking, the CDM 2 wants to ensure that her RA-970 is properly connected. She is a bit nasty and likes amphibian sex. Thus she uses a "Cobra? of the Monitor Silver Cable...

Review of B&W CDM 2SE
Advantages: Amazing sound, great build quality. Disadvantages: Needs careful positioning to stop the bass becoming 'boomy'.
...a few more years and i've not got a new place with a larger room. It's then I realise my old Sony speakers just aren't up to the job any more.
Still with me?
Anyway it's at this point I decided to get some decent speakers to match my amp and cd player. After reading many good reviews of both B&W and Kef I decided to audtion some. I looked into the Kef Q1s and the B&W 602 S3.
After much listening I decided the B&W's suited the music I listened to better.
# About #
The 602 is the largest of the 3 standmounts in the 600 range.
Coming in at 21kg for both speakers in one large box these probably aren't the best speakers to try and take home by foot as I found out. I was so worn out by the time I got home I had to recover for a few hours before being able to set them up.
Build quality is excellent. They feel solid and robust...

Review of B & W DM 602/S3
Advantages: Unique looking speakers. Superb unrivaled sound quality. Sleek design, Extremely well built. Disadvantages: Only that I can't take them with me everywhere.
...I had some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket and decided to splash out on a set of these beautiful B&W speakers.
At first I was told to use them at very low volume just to break the cones in as they were brand new. Turning them straight up to full would more than likely have ruined them. So I played them very softly for about the first hour and gradually increased the volume until I was satisfied with what this speakers could do.
I was blown away. I never thought that more expensive speakers could sound that much different to cheapers models but these are way above the league of most loudspeakers. They are stunning to look at with or without the protective grills (without looks better). When you expose the lovely yellow kevlar woven cones for yourself you will see what I'm talking about.
You can't get better speakers...

Review of B & W DM 601 S3
Advantages: Fantastic sound, placement of voices and instruments Disadvantages: Hard to place, hard to get bass right
...annoy me in less than two weeks.
Second choice was a more 'grown up' stereo, all in one, sleek looking, shiney metal and glass. It was tempting, I admit, but the sound was like my head was stuck in a cardboard box (try to listen to a stereo in a busy Curry's on a Saturday!).
Final choice was to behave like a real grown-up and go for separates. Despite the price difference, this appealed to me, as I would be able to choose the components I really liked. And, I would be able to make trade offs initially, and then upgrade a particular part....
So, with that choice made, I searched the internet and read HiFi-choice magazine. Bowers and Wilkins speakers got rave reviews and I decided to visit my local audiophile shop to listen to them. I took my favourite CDs and was allowed to sit and listen for a while. Eventually I settled for the B&W DM...

Review of B & W DM 602/S3
Advantages: Quick, Cheap Disadvantages: Not the best printout
...this printer for basic B&W printing and for a quick proof print of a picture, before printing that off on a dedicated photo inkjet.
The speed of printing is very good, with a sustained speed of around 10-12 pages per minute (dependant on what is being printed) and a first page speed of around 10-15 seconds.
It is possible to increase the included ram and also add a NIC interface card to ruin alongside the USB interface....

Review of Kyocera FS 1010
Advantages: Brilliant output and nice bass Disadvantages: Cant quite go loud enough for me ;-)
...good quality sound.
They are the lowestest in there series, the DM600's series 2. With the DM602 just above at an extra £100.00 on top, delivers just that extra kick that makes it louder and slightley clearer(which is only just possible.) Then there is the floorstanding range, the 603,604 and 605 which just get louder and bigger.
But i think that it is a better buy, because it is cheap so it is more cost effective unless you need it very loud. Although the 601 can beat most speakers.
They are encased in an oak wood black design or teak. With a plastic grill, that is covered in a high quality material cover with a metal logo at the top, B&W. Making the finish very posh and adding class to your System.
After having them a year now, and still not having a single problem i can also say they are very robust and higly reliable.
Its...

Review of B&W DM601 S2
Advantages: Fairly cheap. Top quality printing quality. Disadvantages: Slower than newer inkjets
...I bought the epson 600 a few years ago to use with my Macintosh Performa 450. Attached to my performa it printed very slowly. Now I have upgraded to an iMac and now is a lot better. It may not be the fastest printer on the market but it still prints 1440dpi x 1440dpi which is superb. Using the correct paper also makes the standard a lot better. I tend to use normal printing paper but I use A4 photopaper andtend to mount it on my walls in frames.
My parent had some photos taken of them and their families when they were very young. That would mean that some of them are over 60 years old. The size of the photos were about double the size of a postage stamp and using Adobe Photoshop and my Umax 1220U scanner I managed to blow up the photo. I then printed it out in B+W on my epson and the results were astounding. I used Epson 6" x 3...
