I publicly admit to Voyeurism - already updated
Review of B&W CDM 2SE by  From_The_Continent

Advantages: Absolutely superb midrange frequencies and very smooth treble. Neutral and yet very atmospheric. Beats many speakers at twice its price.
Disadvantages: Slight problems with three-dimensional reproduction and upper bass overemphasis. Power-hungry and thus critical with some amplifiers.

...in the treble and curing the slight overemphasis in the bass range. One thing about the cables really surprised me: when I replaced the metal bridges between the channels with 10cm of the same speaker cable, I literally thought I had a different pair of speakers in front of me. The sound was much brighter and, above all, much roomier. This effect multiplied when I bought another cable to operate the CDM 2 in bi-wiring. After spending over £150 on wire and plugs alone, I finally had the speaker I wanted to have. Although they are categorised as bookshelf speakers, the worst thing you can do to the CDM 2 is put them on a bookshelf. Instead you should place them on speaker stands. It is not necessary to buy the original B&W stands, at £200 per pair they are rather expensive. I have chosen some metal no-name stands for £40 per pair and filled them... Read review

Bringing B+W photos to life.
Review of Epson Stylus Color 600 by  raphiel99

Advantages: Fairly cheap. Top quality printing quality.
Disadvantages: Slower than newer inkjets

...I bought the epson 600 a few years ago to use with my Macintosh Performa 450. Attached to my performa it printed very slowly. Now I have upgraded to an iMac and now is a lot better. It may not be the fastest printer on the market but it still prints 1440dpi x 1440dpi which is superb. Using the correct paper also makes the standard a lot better. I tend to use normal printing paper but I use A4 photopaper andtend to mount it on my walls in frames. My parent had some photos taken of them and their families when they were very young. That would mean that some of them are over 60 years old. The size of the photos were about double the size of a postage stamp and using Adobe Photoshop and my Umax 1220U scanner I managed to blow up the photo. I then printed it out in B+W on my epson and the results were astounding. I used Epson 6" x 3... Read review

Great Speaker to Upgrade your Crappy Stereo System
Review of B&W DM302 by  From_The_Continent

Advantages: Very good sound for such a small & cheap speaker. Very dynamic & roomy.
Disadvantages: Just slightly too bright, no deep bass, no bi-wiring.

...using them at home, you soon get tired from these effects. Indeed some of these speakers sound as if the amplifier operates in permanent Loudness-Mode, i.e. with overamplified bass and treble. The result is not music, but noise. None of this could be said about the DM 302. It doesn't try to persuade with cheap effects, but comes with the kind of tonal balance to be found in much more expensive speakers. Its sound reproduction is almost neutral, and makes for long-term enjoyment. After so much praise, the DM 302 had to undergo a somewhat tougher test to uncover some weaknesses. I have often hooked it up to my main stereo system and tested it against my primary speakers, the B&W CDM 2 which trades at £500, more than three times the price of the DM 302. And I have been in for some surprises! Fair enough, the DM 302 cannot accentuate... Read review

Excellent choice for a midrange system
Review of B & W DM 602/S3 by  PJHilder

Advantages: Amazing sound, great build quality.
Disadvantages: Needs careful positioning to stop the bass becoming 'boomy'.

...a few more years and i've not got a new place with a larger room. It's then I realise my old Sony speakers just aren't up to the job any more. Still with me? Anyway it's at this point I decided to get some decent speakers to match my amp and cd player. After reading many good reviews of both B&W and Kef I decided to audtion some. I looked into the Kef Q1s and the B&W 602 S3. After much listening I decided the B&W's suited the music I listened to better. # About # The 602 is the largest of the 3 standmounts in the 600 range. Coming in at 21kg for both speakers in one large box these probably aren't the best speakers to try and take home by foot as I found out. I was so worn out by the time I got home I had to recover for a few hours before being able to set them up. Build quality is excellent. They feel solid and robust... Read review

A terrific B&W classic film - not to be missed
Review of Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The by  jryan999

Advantages: Powerful performances by Bogart and Huston (both father and son)
Disadvantages: None

...their problems really start. In a similarly chilling performance as a paranoid madman in “The Caine Mutiny” (1954), Bogart is at his very best as the greedy, brutal and eventually insane prospector. An Oscar winning performance in my opinion, but instead Walter Huston won the "Best Supporting Actor" and his son John "Best Director". This film was just one of a series directed by John Huston who having completed “The Maltese Falcon” in 1941 continued to work with Bogart on a number classic films including “Key Largo” (1948) and “The African Queen” (1951). I’d highly recommend any of these cult classic B&W films. Not to be missed.... Read review

A good all rounder for B&W printing
Review of Kyocera FS 1010 by  scarymonkey

Advantages: Quick, Cheap
Disadvantages: Not the best printout

...this printer for basic B&W printing and for a quick proof print of a picture, before printing that off on a dedicated photo inkjet. The speed of printing is very good, with a sustained speed of around 10-12 pages per minute (dependant on what is being printed) and a first page speed of around 10-15 seconds. It is possible to increase the included ram and also add a NIC interface card to ruin alongside the USB interface.... Read review

My first 'real' loudspeakers
Review of B & W DM 602/S3 by  FrankNL

Advantages: Fantastic sound, placement of voices and instruments
Disadvantages: Hard to place, hard to get bass right

...annoy me in less than two weeks. Second choice was a more 'grown up' stereo, all in one, sleek looking, shiney metal and glass. It was tempting, I admit, but the sound was like my head was stuck in a cardboard box (try to listen to a stereo in a busy Curry's on a Saturday!). Final choice was to behave like a real grown-up and go for separates. Despite the price difference, this appealed to me, as I would be able to choose the components I really liked. And, I would be able to make trade offs initially, and then upgrade a particular part.... So, with that choice made, I searched the internet and read HiFi-choice magazine. Bowers and Wilkins speakers got rave reviews and I decided to visit my local audiophile shop to listen to them. I took my favourite CDs and was allowed to sit and listen for a while. Eventually I settled for the B&W DM... Read review

Brilliant DM 601 S3 Black Ash Speakers
Review of B & W DM 601 S3 by  mikeybzizi1984

Advantages: Unique looking speakers. Superb unrivaled sound quality. Sleek design, Extremely well built.
Disadvantages: Only that I can't take them with me everywhere.

...I had some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket and decided to splash out on a set of these beautiful B&W speakers. At first I was told to use them at very low volume just to break the cones in as they were brand new. Turning them straight up to full would more than likely have ruined them. So I played them very softly for about the first hour and gradually increased the volume until I was satisfied with what this speakers could do. I was blown away. I never thought that more expensive speakers could sound that much different to cheapers models but these are way above the league of most loudspeakers. They are stunning to look at with or without the protective grills (without looks better). When you expose the lovely yellow kevlar woven cones for yourself you will see what I'm talking about. You can't get better speakers... Read review

"HAIRS" ONE FOR THE LADS
Review of B&W Hair Dressing Pomade by  zlatiko

Advantages: Excellent hair styling product
Disadvantages: can be awkward to wash out

...of the pomade (this stuff spreads very well!) and warm in the hand until soft then rub lightly into finger tips to spread, then work into hair starting at the roots, if you enjoy the "messy rough spiked" like me, then this stuff is perfect, and its also ideal for those who prefer a more genteel look and for those who prefer "detailed" styles. Because the pomade is not a gel its not brittle or drying and leaves no thick visible residue, it looks more natural and feels more comfortable to wear, its also easier to restyle should you need to, i.e freak weather storm, mates messing it up, girlfriend playing with it etc due to the fact that it never dries...very handy. WASHING IT OUT Now, i admit this is not the easiest hair product to wash out, but its certainly not the hardest, B & W also sell a shampoo that can remove all traces of the pomade... Read review

Orgasminc Sound...
Review of B&W DM601 S2 by  2000andone

Advantages: Brilliant output and nice bass
Disadvantages: Cant quite go loud enough for me ;-)

...good quality sound. They are the lowestest in there series, the DM600's series 2. With the DM602 just above at an extra £100.00 on top, delivers just that extra kick that makes it louder and slightley clearer(which is only just possible.) Then there is the floorstanding range, the 603,604 and 605 which just get louder and bigger. But i think that it is a better buy, because it is cheap so it is more cost effective unless you need it very loud. Although the 601 can beat most speakers. They are encased in an oak wood black design or teak. With a plastic grill, that is covered in a high quality material cover with a metal logo at the top, B&W. Making the finish very posh and adding class to your System. After having them a year now, and still not having a single problem i can also say they are very robust and higly reliable. Its...
