VOLTEK SECURITY CAMERA'S - BUT WHICH ONE?
Review of Voltek Cameras by
penguin1052
Advantages: HOME CCTV AT AFFORDABLE PRICES
Disadvantages: NOT SURE REALLY
...This review is an overview of the main security camera’s from the Voltek range and what each one does and the differences between them. They are aimed at home use mainly but there is no reason why small businesses cannot use them.
Black & White Camera
The basic Black and White Camera is as it says a basic b/w security camera. It is ideal if you want just one camera that is fairly small. It is the smallest camera in the range and is about the size of a golf ball. You can find these for anything from the £30 mark up and it comes complete with 20metres of cable, a fixing bracket, cable tacks, power supply and a scart connector to plug directly into the back of your TV or Video.
Colour Camera
Pretty much the same as the b/w camera, however this one is slightly larger (around the size of an average tennis ball) again complete...

'WOW'
Review of Samsung SyncMaster 940BW by
paula-oates
Advantages: clear and east to use
Disadvantages: none that i have found 'yet'
...Well my husband brought me the SnycMaster 940 BW for a present when I started uni in September and all I can say is 'WOW'. Everything is so clear. When the box first arrived, I thought it looked a little small, and it weighed practically nothing. Then I opened it, and was pleasantly surprised. It was easy to set up, and within ten minuets, I was typing away. The kids love how clear the picture is, so now I am fighting with them all the time to get them off it. One thing I will say about this monitor is that my eyes do not hurt when I come away from it. My last monitor used to give me a headache after about thirty minuets, but this one, I can stay on it for hours. Well done Samsung, and thanks....

Some parts black, others white
Review of Black & White (PC) by
tgolders
Advantages: Incredible graphics, creatures and interface
Disadvantages: Saving time and some aspects of gameplay
...Having heard all of the hype surrounding Lionhead Studio's first major project, I awaited eagerly legendery programmer Peter Molyneux's new game, Black and White. I bought it fairly soon after it came out, in July 2001.
You start with a video introducing you to your role in the game - as a God. There are many other Gods competing with you, and they reign over groups of villagers in various worlds. There follows a tutorial giving instruction on the detailed control system used in the game. It is worth mentioning here about B&W's interface - your only interaction into the worlds of B&W it be a single hand. This means the entire screen is taken up by B&W's immersive world.
Most of the first world is basically a tutorial, ie. you learn about objects in the world, such as signposts, and learn about the villagers wants and needs...

21 hours a day
Review of Oregon Scientific TP329 8-channel PMR by
ik2xnw-
Advantages: Communicate, for free, in any condition
Disadvantages: Instruction's bill not very user friendly
...of matter, my choice fall to the Oregon Scientific Atlanta PMR TP-329, its specifications (skills) going over the avarage standards.
It is stupendous, having a trip with friends with several cars and getting in touch each other with these fabulous devices. Even along the ski run, or inside supermarkets, for a walk on the mountain, every time you could surely find the usefulness of these radios..
Personally, me and my wife, often use them when we go at the shopping mall to get in touch each other: she fills the shopping chart while I search specific produces that interest me.. lol..
The quality of the loudspeacker is wonderful.
With a dimension and look of a bar soap, this little and cute station could find place in any pocket.
Batteries, 3 x AAA and 700mAh each, rechargeable and supplied, last 21 hours. Inside their lodging exist a switch...

Fear not - Barry will look after you
Review of Barrysworld by
notionlogic
Advantages: no subscription, community atmosphere
Disadvantages: none
...Barrysworld? What kind of name is that for an ISP? Well, if you want to know where the name came from, try reading Robert Rankin's books and you will find that the BARRY in question is actually a talking sprout! But what does that have to do with anything? Well, not a lot I suppose but I thought you might be interested to find out ;-)
Although they are in the ISPs category here on Ciao, in my opinion, the key service Barrysworld (BW) provide is more than 300 online gaming servers covering games such as Quake/Q2/Q3A,Halflife, Unreal Tournament and Tribes, along with popular variants like Capture the Flag, Team Fortress and CounterStrike, available for you to play online 24hrs a day.
But on top of that, BW also provides an extensive daily updated gaming news service covering all game genres, as well as hardware and general industry news...

Pocket Power
Review of Nikon Nuvis S Compact Camera by
mlheintz
Advantages: Mid-roll change, size, durability
Disadvantages: limited APS film options
...the camera is a bit interesting. As with all the small APS cameras, you need to make sure your fingers don't block the lens. I've only had 2 or 3 shots from the 20 - 30 rolls of film I've shot where this happened.
The only real problem that I had with my camera is that it did not support use of Kodak Black and White APS film. I contacted Nikon and they adjusted my camera so that it now supports B&W. Their comment was that the camera was designed before B&W APS film as available, so they just needed to make an adjustment to allow my camera to use it.
The mid-roll change feature is my favorite feature. This allows me to switch between B&W, Colour Print and Colour Slide film. I tend to mostly shoot Fuji Nexia 100F and 100IX films, but the Kodak B&W gets some use also.
The camera is a little pricier than some of the options on the market...

Bringing B+W photos to life.
Review of Epson Stylus Color 600 by
raphiel99
Advantages: Fairly cheap. Top quality printing quality.
Disadvantages: Slower than newer inkjets
...I bought the epson 600 a few years ago to use with my Macintosh Performa 450. Attached to my performa it printed very slowly. Now I have upgraded to an iMac and now is a lot better. It may not be the fastest printer on the market but it still prints 1440dpi x 1440dpi which is superb. Using the correct paper also makes the standard a lot better. I tend to use normal printing paper but I use A4 photopaper andtend to mount it on my walls in frames.
My parent had some photos taken of them and their families when they were very young. That would mean that some of them are over 60 years old. The size of the photos were about double the size of a postage stamp and using Adobe Photoshop and my Umax 1220U scanner I managed to blow up the photo. I then printed it out in B+W on my epson and the results were astounding. I used Epson 6" x 3...

Beautiful Design & Image Quality By Samsung
Review of Samsung SyncMaster 2232BW by
Surj1
Advantages: Sleek Design, 2ms Response Time, 22" Widescreen & Easy Configuration
Disadvantages: Slightly Dodgy Stand Set-up
...The Samsung SyncMaster 2232BW is the latest in Samsung's TFT monitors range and looks great. The monitor has a smooth design to it and beautiful curves which isn't common with TFT's. Samsung have made the design similar to there HD LCD TV's which is a step in the right direction for sure.
Setting up the monitor wasn't as simple as I thought it would be. I was a bit surprised that the stand didn't immediately click into the rubber slot of the actual monitor. It took some encouragement to get it to click into place. After I got that out of the way I powered the monitor and inserted the software provided into the PC and simply followed the instruction wizard, which I should add is very simple. This configures the monitor to how you want it, brightness, resolution etc.
Specification and Features:
- 22in widescreen TFT
- 1,680 x 1...
