Advantages: Promotional offers.Everything under one roof.supposedly. Disadvantages: ques,Customer services-DIY of course!
...Hi guys...
Well,I don't know if it's because I am fast approaching pre-menopausal age but I am finding B&Q very difficult to stumble around eversince my local ware house decided to expand and move to larger premises.
I miss the personal touch of the old B&Q store; the friendly waves, winks and non chaotic or conflicting sound advice/help/assistance and general service we used to get.
Maybe it's something to do with detesting everything to do with DIY in the first place! (or,as my husband aptly puts: DIY = Disaster in your home!)
The worst thing I have discovered is the customer services, where the average assistant can't spell Vacuum, nor speak clearly, except in non syllabic mumbles, with about as much common sense and interest in your enquiry as a bikini clad tourist in Iceland!
I can assure you, that the advents I'm about to...

Review of B & Q (Shop)
Advantages: great paints Disadvantages: service is poor
...B&Q are the largest DIY store in the uk, they have very little in the way of rivalry other than the local builders merchants so do a very good trade from the public aswell as people in the building trade and even have a trade desk and trade parking so they dont have to waite in the queues with the rest of us.
Well i would like to say that our local store stocks all your DIY needs and to a certain extent it does with a vast range of all the products it stocks with everything you could need for the garden and home with the exception of polystirine coving which i spent ages looking for only to find they didnt sell it when we were decorating our livingroom.
Most items are stocked in store but if they are large items they are available as home delivery only sometimes as our bath was, which i wasnt impressed with the service we...

Review of B & Q (Shop)
Advantages: good products a hand full of really helpful staff opening times Disadvantages: lack of till staff ,lack of staff ,not knowing as a trader what is or not discounted eg lights
...A good shop spoilt .
If there is only one till open why not use the one by the help desk rather than the far end of the shop so any problems can be resolved by the casher talking to the help desk rather than phoning .
To day a large number of customers were waiting at the only open checkout a problem occured at the till, as result five customers put their purchases on the floor and walked out.
I am a trader and the talk in the trade in Chippenham is always how long it takes to get out of B&Q when our customers are paying us by the hour.
There is also a a lot of waiting time for the saw (which is a god send for us traders)
I hope I have not been too critical but the awareness of customer satisfaction in speed of tills and help in finding goods is lacking.
B&Q Chippenham could be a great shop and easily out do its rivals in...

Review of B & Q (Shop)
Advantages: Cheap, friendly, reliable Disadvantages: cost me a fortune in teabags!
...Ive just had my new kitchen fitted so thought it was time for a review.
Lets start at the beginning, my old kitchen was falling apart and with only one plug socket a complete unsafe nightmare (trailing extension leads is not a good idea!!). Back in August B and Q had a upto 55% off sale on new kitchens with a free design service, so I decided lets try them out.
The designer came out and planned my new kitchen, and set a delivery date of the 6th dec for the units and 11 dec for the fitters to arrive.
Great a new kitchen in time for xmas, or so I thought, I then decided after ordering to try and find reviews on B and Q kitchens, big mistake I couldnt find anything good about them.
So I spent the next 5 weeks worrying that I was going to be cooking xmas dinner in the microwave.
6 th Dec arrived and all the units were...

Review of B & Q (Shop)
Advantages: Loads of choice, reasonable prices Disadvantages: Too much temptation
...For some reason we always seem to buy houses that need quite a bit of work doing on them, so it's no wonder that we always seem to be popping down to B&Q for something, as we generally tend to do the work ourselves.
Our last house needed a new kitchen and bathroom fitting, so off we went. The bathroom suit (bath, loo, washbasin) cost us less than £200 and nothing to have installed as we did it ourselves. While we were at it we had to replace the complete bathroom floor from where the previous fittings had leaked and ruined the chipboard. So for about £250 we had a complete new bathroom.
The kitchen was also in dire need of attention, so once the bathroom was fitted we went back to B&Q again. We spent £600 in total on new cupboards, sink, work surfaces etc and it put around £2,500 on the value of our house.
The good thing...

Review of B & Q (Shop)
Advantages: Cost effective, loads of choice. Helpful resources to assist the D.I Y-er. Disadvantages: packaging not always effective.
...Over the past few months (and with many thanks and hugs to my partner) the "sensitive restoration" of my 1930's home has leapt forward, with, in my view excellent results. Many thanks to options and products available at B&Q.
Flooring.
A) Our first project. The dinning room.
"Laminate. "
Armed with measurements an idea of what I was looking for and basic know how I hit the Flooring aisle of B&Q.
Firstly the selections avaible were most comprehensive. A video on how to lay the flooring was playing. Leaflets on "How To Lay the flooring" were readily available . Not so staff ,but with patience when the selection was made someone finally was there to help me finalise what was required , with reference to quantity and help getting it from the checkout to my car.
Prices varied considerably, special offfers were available...

Review of B&Q Flooring
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Poor customer service, too big to find anything, poor parking
...I have been a regular visitor to my local Huddersfield branch of B&Q for some years. When it opened in the mid 90?s, Huddersfield was the proud location for the biggest DIY superstore in Europe; a somewhat dubious boast. While the mantle has no doubt by now moved onto some other equally obscure town in the north of England, the store is indeed impressively huge. It took over a good proportion of the old Huddersfield Town football ground, a ground that saw generations of football fans watching their team slide gently into decline. The ground closed after the tightened Health and Safety regulations of the 1980?s.
As a most reluctant DIY?er, I normally spend my time in that great cavern of a warehouse tromping through endless aisles looking for some such exciting product like wood glue, or wall filler. After I have finally located my...

Review of B & Q (Shop)
Advantages: Small, heats the fulll room, bargain price Disadvantages: takes a whle to heat up
...B&Q Oil Filled Radiator
Bought one of these around 6months ago our heating wasn't going to be working for a couple of weeks so bought this for the bedroom. Went to B&Q as knew they had quite a selection didn't want a huge one as we don't really have much room in the bedroom.
We bought it as a replacement for the halogen that we had been using which the dogs kept walking past and singing their tails in.
It takes quite a while to heat up even when it is on full power but once it is warm it is more than enough to warm our bedroom up. It has various settings of heat so once the room is warm you can turn it down which is a really useful feature, the dial for doing this how ever does not have numbers on it and I do think it would benefit it if it did so you could turn it down a set amount and know which setting you usually use...
Advantages: price Disadvantages: availability, customer service
...I thought I'd share my shopping experience of B&Q with fellow Ciao members in this review.
I recieved through the letter box an ad for B&Q which included some wardrobes and chest of drawers, which I thought would be ideal for myself. I couldn't order the items online so i thought i'd go to my local B&Q Warehouse.
This morning I proceeded to phone B&Q and asked if they had these items in stock. The reply I received was 'Yes, we've got plenty of both'. A friend with a van kindly drove 20 miles out of his way to help me get the items back home. When we arrived at my local B&Q we found the wardrobes but as they were off the floor and in the overheads we had to ask for assistance. When I asked two assistants that I needed an item getting down from above, I was told to go to Plumbing and ask for someone there. No-one there...

Review of B & Q (Shop)
...When I was looking for a new kitchen, I came across the B&Q range and my friends had told me that they were of good quality and were good value for money, so I nipped down my local B&Q one afternoon and had a good nosey round, I found their prices to be fair and the quality looked good and felt good, I found the style I wanted "GLOSS WHITE", I needed something Clean and Bright and would reflect light.
I went across to the Kitchen Dept Desk and the friendly staff booked an appointment for one of their professional kitchen planners to come out and measure up and draw up a design on his computer.
Anyway it was booked and I was really looking forward to him coming out to plan my kitchen, THEN the night before the day the planner was due to come we got a phone call from B&Q saying that the kitchen planner from my area had been badly...
