Grace - Simon Webbe

Advantages: A decent pop album
Disadvantages: A few weak songs

...You will probably know of Simon Webbe as he was in the popular british boy band Blue, since they split up a couple of years ago he has gone solo and released two albums. He is the most successful solo member from Blue, and out of all four members he probably has the best voice. He has been compared to other artists such as Lighthouse Family and Seal; I can definitely see the comparisons with these artists as their music is similar. Grace is Simon's second album and is full of soulful pop songs. Coming Around Again - This was the first single from the album, and is a catchy feel good song about how if you have troubles on your mind you should put them to one side and watch the good times come round again. Where Theres A Will There's A Grace

Advantages: Funny show.
Disadvantages: Very stereotypical.

...Will & Grace is a Emmy award winning sitcom that aired between 1998-2006. The show takes place in New York City and focuses on Will Truman, a gay lawyer and his best friend Grace Adler, a straight Jewish girl who runs her own interior design firm. That show sounds boring, why is it so good I hear you ask. The casting directors hired two perfect actors to play Will & Grace. Eric McCormack who plays Will isn't too gay like someone else in the show, so it makes it seem plausible that Grace thought he was straight. Debra Messing who plays Grace is just so bubbly and eccentric that you can't help but love her. Most importantly though it's the chemistry between Will & Grace that pulls you in, I myself always thought that they'd get together in the end. ...For years, my former flatmate kept telling me I should listen to ?Grace?, the one studio album Jeff Buckley released before his premature demise. For years, I resisted, in much the same way as I have stubbornly resisted her calls to listen to Radiohead and Beck. After all, what I had heard of those I hadn?t enjoyed and if they were symptomatic of her musical tastes, then I could quite happily survive without ever hearing Jeff Buckley. Another reason for my reluctance to listen to Jeff Buckley was Kurt Cobain. Cobain is another musician who dies too young and his music has been revered ever since, despite not actually deserving it. Would we still be talking about Nirvana with such regularity had he still been alive and the band had just split up? Somehow, I doubt it. Knowing that Jeff Buckley had also been taken from us too soon...

Advantages: superb collection of superb songs - great production too
Disadvantages: can't think of any

...This is Grace Jones' first album in 20 years and reunites her with Sly and Robbie, her collaborators on the classic trilogy of albums from the early eighties (Warm Leatherette, Nightclubbing, and Living My Life). The new album also includes contributions from Brian Eno who contributes all sorts of sonic enhancements. The opening song "This Is" sets the scene - those classic half sung, half spoken vocals, masses of delightful sonic touches buried in the mix and above all, a very catchy tune. It's like Massive Attack suddenly wrote some dubby pop songs. Track two "William's Blood" is astounding too especially as Grace duets with her mother on a verse of "Amazing Grace" at the close of the song. ...WOW! This stunning. literally perfect new studio album by the inimitable, off-the-wall Grace Jones (her first project since 1989's Bulletproof Heart) far surpassed what i'd originally expected. Now, don't get me wrong, i've always loved the weird but wonderful Grace Jones, but had long since given up hope of her returning to the music scene, let alone with such concise precision, depth and fire. Her last project Bulletproof Heart was a rather hit-and-miss affair, alternated by some stunning results (Love On Top Of Love<, Bulletproof Heart and On My Way) and some rather forgettable, nondescript recordings. Bulletproof Heart failed to re-capture the glories of Grace Jones recognised masterpieces - Warm Leatherette (1980), Nightclubbing (1981) and Slave To The Rhythm (1985). SAVING GRACE - THE MOVIE

Advantages: British Humour at its best.

...I have seen this movie over and over again and loved it more with every viewing and so I thought an op might remind some of you of an older film that still remains a classically British true comedy of our time. Nigel Cole directs this film and it stars Craig Ferguson, Brenda Blethyn and Thceky Karyo, and is set in a small Cornish village. The atmosphere of the village is typically that of a fishing village and the mentality of the people is such that it could only be in England. The humour is wonderful and makes me cry with laughter every time I see it. The story revolves around a lady called Grace whose husband dies and leaves her less than nothing. Amazing Grace; Not So Amazing Biography

Advantages: Covers most aspects of her life, a few previously unknown/unpublicized details
Disadvantages: Gossipy, sentimental, lacks substance, obsessed with looks and lovers

...Grace Kelly is one of my favourite actresses, which is why I decided to borrow True Grace from my local library. Unfortunately, there is precious little in this book about Grace's acting career. Instead, the author, Wendy Leigh, is obsessed with her lovers and the glamour of her being a movie star who became a princess. I was very disappointed and incredibly thankful that I hadn't spent money on it. Leigh does mention Grace's films and provides brief synopses, wherein she annoyingly uses the actors' names instead of the characters', but her "insights" into the films centre on how Grace Kelly looks and what was going on off-screen. Much is made of the outfits she wears. To exacerbate it, she misinterprets major aspects of the films I'm familiar with. I can only imagine her accuracy in relating the films I haven't yet seen.
