Huggies, The Only Nappies For My Baby.
Advantages: They don't leak and they keep my baby dry and comfortable.
Disadvantages: None
...When my son was born just over 17 months ago I had already stocked up on a few different sized nappies. The reason for this, well when I'd had my daughter some seven years previously I was completely un-prepared and as my daughter was quite a small baby I ended up with a bag full of nappies all way to big for her!
This wasn't going to happen a second time and as luck would have it my local chemist sells nappies seperately. This did work out a little bit more expensive but I only bought two or three of each size from premature to mini, this would make sure I'd have something to fit him wether he was tiny like his big sister or a baby elephant (which he turned out to be).
As for the make of the nappies well to be honest that never came into question, it just had to be Huggies. I'd used these on my daughter when she was a baby...

A thin Nappy for tiny Babies
Advantages: nice slim fit for a newborn, quick drying, inexpensive
Disadvantages: needs a gusseted wrap to prevent leg leaks, not super absorbent
...performed well as a day nappy, but the two times I used it at night, I found it to be useless in comparison to most of my other nappies, especially my Nappy Nations and prefolds. It probably would do as a night nappy with two terry boosters in, but that would seriously bulk it up and alter the fit as well to where the side flaps would barely fold over his skinny tummy ( I know, I tried it!). Based on my experince, I would not recommend it as a nappy for an older baby who would wee a lot more.
At £4 each, it makes a very economical newborn nappy as newborns do not wet as much, though I would invest in some terries or prefolds or a couple Nappy Nations to use at night or for going out in. Though in all honesty, I found muslins to be just as effective a daytime newborn nappy, better at explosive poo containment, a lot quicker drying, and less...

A baby in a 'proper' nappy looks gorgeous!
Advantages: cost, simplicity, resale value, good for sensitive skin, look very cute
Disadvantages: initial outlay cost, having to wash them.
...and is a good all rounder (it is also slightly cheaper) Then you have the bamboo fibre nappies, which are incredibly soft, they are good if your babys skin is particularly sensitive, however they do take longer to dry, lastly are the microfibre fleece ones which also have good absorbency but dry really quickly- they come out of the washing machine almost dry. I actually have a few of each type and they are all good in their own ways, but the cotton ones are always a great option. Each nappy has a 'tounge' for extra absorbency, the size one nappies have the tounge seperate as a newborn doesnt always need this and it makes the nappy bulkier, the size 2 nappies have the tounge sewn in. The nappy has various patches of velcro allowing you to get a really good fit on your baby even when they are at the smallest end of the size range. Oh, and your...

Nappies for your little water baby
Advantages: Fun designs, easy to use, widely available
Disadvantages: Not that cheap
...I wanted to start my son swimming young, and wasn't sure about whether I could use disposable nappies in a swimming pool, so I did a little research by asking a few friends, and I found out that it probably isn't a good idea as they swell up very quickly! So I went off to the supermarket, and I saw these on the shelves. I grabbed a packet of small Huggies Little Swimmers, and reluctantly handed over my £4.99, which I thought was quite steep for just a few nappies, and got ready to take my then 3 month old swimming.
The nappies are made by Huggies, who obviously also make a lot of nappy products so you can be quite sure that they know what they are doing. They come in 3 different sizes, and with different designs on, so you, or your picky toddler, can choose which ones they want to have to avoid any arguments. The sizes are as follows...

Pampers New Baby Nappies
Advantages: Good quality, Secure
Disadvantages: Cost
...I started off using Pampers New Baby nappies when my daughter was born, mainly because these nappies were provided free in the Bounty new baby hospital bag.
Overall, I was really pleased with these nappies. They fitted well and stopped most leaks. The only, occasional, leaks I tended to experience with my baby were the overnight nappies.
The inside of the nappies are lovely and soft, absorbing moisture well. The sides are elasticated well to fit snugly.
I did decide to swap to 'Huggies' nappies, as my daughter was only 5lbs 14 oz and the huggies nappies seemed slightly smaller than the pampers. My choice to swap had nothing to do with the performance or quality of the pampers.
Although pampers nappies are not the cheapest brand, I would recommend them for an 'average' or larger sized newborn baby, as they were a good quality...

Nice soft nappy liners, and environmentally-friendly
Advantages: Lovely and soft, big, seem to work quite well
Disadvantages: Soft texture snags on your hands. Not the cheapest.
...We decided to try these nappy liners having found them on eBay. We seem to be on a permanent mission to try to find the optimum nappy liners, and I have to say that I don't think the search is completely over yet...
Just in case you're not sure why you'd need a nappy liner, you put one inside the reusable nappy with every nappy change. It catches the poo (hope you're not eating while surfing the internet!) and allegedly helps keep your baby feeling dry by letting the wee through and keeping it away from their skin - not sure how this actually works, but our son doesn't complain, so I guess it works somehow!
These liners are both biodegradable and flushable. Now, I'm a big fan of biodegradable, but I'm less convinced about flushable. The only time we ever change our son in the toilet/bathroom is when we're out and about (in...

A baby with no nappy to change
Advantages: no effort required
Disadvantages: 10 calories per baby, not good !
...Bassets Milky Babies
Milky Babies are the latest offering from Bassets and I must admit, these are rather Moorish. They are from the same DNA as the 1918 Jelly Baby, which was originally called Peace Baby during the war.
A little bit of history on Bertie Bassett. This is the oldest example of a British sweet. Bassett's was founded by George Bassett in 1842. Probably it's most famous sweet, the love it or hate it Liquorice All sort, was discovered by chance in 1899 when a salesman called Charlie Thompson knocked over his tray of sweets. Today Liquorice Allsorts have more than a 70 per cent share of the sweet market, and are the number one brand in local newsagents, even out selling sherbert dips.
Bassett's best-known character is Bertie Bassett, the company logo man made from Liquorice Assorts. Bertie was born in 1929...

Pampers New Baby - Best nappies I have used
Advantages: Keep everything in & dont rub babys legs
Disadvantages: none
...Being a new mum I didn't have a clue where to start when it came to buying nappies etc, the only reason I purchased these nappies was because boots had a offer where if you purchased a pack of these you got a free changing bag.
I am now very pleased that I had purchased these nappies, I find them very easy to put on my baby (even when she is wriggling around), they are very soft and don't leave red makes around my baby legs (unlike other brands I have tried). These nappies also keep everything in, I have had quite a few what I call exploding nappies now & not a bit of it has got on her clothes or anywhere else other than in the nappy.
Many people bought us nappies etc to get us started so I have tried a couple of different brands now and I think Pampers are the best by a mile and I intend to carry on using pampers as my baby gets older...

Hug your newborn with these nappies!
Advantages: Cute design, great fit, no nappy rash!
Disadvantages: None
...I have a 'new' niece who is currently 14 weeks and she is wearing Huggies Newborn size 2 nappies and my review is based on these. The size 2 is designed for babies who weigh 3-6kg and you get 40 nappies for £5.98 from Tesco stores although these are currently on offer for £5.00 per pack.
The nappies are very lightweight and pretty in design. These particular nappies have Winnie The Pooh on them and although my niece is too young to appreciate this I am a fan of the design, as is my sister (who chooses this brand every week at shopping!). The nappies are white and have an elasticated waist allowing them to mould better to the shape of an individual baby (as we all know they can greatly vary in size!). They have a tab on either side for them to allow the sides be stuck to the front of the nappy to help prevent any leakages.
These...

Pampers New Baby 'Total Care' Nappies
Advantages: disposable well known brand
Disadvantages: harsh on babies bottom..For me an awful nappy
...I first used pampers nappies 15 years ago when i had my daughter and was pleased with the package i paid for.Yes they were the more expensive brand at the time but you knew what you were getting when you purchased them. They were the "gold " of the nappy variety back then..Soft to the touch very absorbant easy for the baby to wear.
So i thought this time round when i had my son 5 months ago i thought i would go for the same product i trusted all those years ago.
In a nut shell i wish i hadn't bothered admittedly they haven't gone up to much in price over the years but i am appalled at how they have gone in terms of there reliability.
I bought about 5 packs of Pampers to get me by with my new arrival.
I was like a child in a sweety shop as i opened my new pack of nappies ( sad i know ) here i was anticipating the soft luxurious...
