Excellent M & P pressure fit safety gate
Review of Mamas & Papas Super Pressure Fit Safety Gate by
oreilly2
Advantages: easy to fit and use, very secure
Disadvantages: haven't come across any yet!
...I recently purchased this safety gate for my nursery doorway, after leaving my 9 month old daughter alone in the nursery for 5 minutes, where I thought she was completely safe, only to come back and find her on the other side of the room and with no idea how she got there!
I looked in both Mothercare and Toys r us and while the gates they had were fine, the samples we could look at were battered and it was unclear which was which. This prompted a trip to Mamas and Papas, where within 5 minutes I had tried, chosen and bought this safety gate and the staff had put it in the car for me (always a bonus!). It cost £29.99, so was slightly more expensive than the others we had looked at but worth it.
Once home, I set about fitting it and by the time my husband decided to ask if I needed any help, I'd done it! It was extremely easy to fit...

Bettacare-Auto Close Stair Gates
Review of Bettacare Auto Close Stair Gate Safety Gate by
A1973
Advantages: 3 sizes, auto-closing
Disadvantages: none
...) to choose from. You can get: Pressure Fitting Stair Gates; Screw Fitting Stair Gates; Auto Close OR Auto Shut baby Gate; Extra Tall Baby Gates; Unique Space Stair Gate and Safety Gates to fit Diagonal Openings. That's just six to be getting on with for the moment, there are loads more.
So how do you decide what you want? Well firstly you need to measure the width of your stairs - BOTH top and bottom, as the top of our stairs is narrower than the bottom. So that caused an issue as I wanted matching stairs gates and all the ones we had seen so far on-line came in the standard width (75-82cm) with the ability to extend the gates if required. Nothing to make them narrower!
Whilst surfing we came across www.safetots.co.uk and bingo they had the gates for us. Pressure fitted gates, which means you don't need to drill holes in your walls. So...

Endless configurations for baby safety
Review of Babydan Baby Den by
Penfold49
Advantages: Makes any space safe and has endless uses
Disadvantages: Only for the rich…needs plenty of space
...be used as a safety gate, a fire surround or a room divider.
@@@ TECHNICAL DETAILING @@@
When you purchase a BabyDen you receive the following:
5x 60cm (24”) Sections
1x 60cm (24”) Section with Gate – Single action squeeze handle opening.
1x Hexagonal Textile Base (usually in red)
All the pieces needed to fix both ends (if using as a safety gate, fire surround or room divider) to walls.
The BabyDen currently comes in two colours, Silver or Black (Silver is the new white apparently!).
The textile base may be machine washed at 40 degrees but must not be tumble dried. The BabyDen need only be wiped with a damp cloth or cleaned using warm soapy water. The unit may rust if used outdoors, but I’m sure if you ensure it doesn’t get wet or is dried properly when brought indoors, this should not be a problem.
When used as a Playpen...

Great gate - does the job!
Review of Lindam Alarmed Two Way Safety Gate by
Fanta7
Advantages: Nice, sturdy, gate, no drilling required
Disadvantages: None
...I bought two Lindam Alarmed Safety gates from Boots online at £24.99. Check their site regularly as they often have offers for free delivery or extra Advantage card points on baby items.
The gates arrived well packaged and with easy to follow instructions.
FIXING IT TO THE WALL
These gates can be fixed to the wall by adjusting the four pressure "bars" they come with. Lindam's advice - for extra safety - is to secure the two top pressure points to the wall by using screws (included in the package). Personally I have only used these screws for the gate at the top of the stairs for extra safety as, once fitted, the gate is pretty sturdy. I pushed it with all my strength and the gate didn't move an inch!
UNLOCKING IT/TWO WAY GATE
The gate is white and comes with a blue handle. To open it, you need to press a button...

Cow and gate baby milk review
Review of Cow & Gate Baby Milk by
mapesy
Advantages: Great range
Disadvantages: Should make bigger tubs
...General
When I was pregnant I was really sure that I was going to breastfeed, I did for a while. But things were a bit hard at the start when my little baby girl was born.
, I was having a phenomenally long labour and was getting really tired and emotional. I had been in labour for 13 hours so I gave in and asked for some more pain relief Pethidine, I was only using gas and air and a tens machine at first.
The pethidine had an effect on my baby Ella and made her really tired so she wouldn't feed probably from me. By the time she was ready to feed and awake my breasts were engorged and she couldn't latch on so I ended up giving her some formula milk, which I bought as a back up. I had bought cow and gate premium Babies first milk.
At first I was giving her both breast and bottle. But to give her breast I had to use a breast pump...

Cow and Gates Baby and Toddler Biscuits
Review of Cow & Gate Baby Food by
Honey_Bee
Advantages: Not many (see op)
Disadvantages: see op
...My baby niece is now seven months old. The time has gone so quick it doesn’t seem five minutes ago she was a tiny baby. Being a sensible young babe she has started to eat “solids”. When I say solids I mean mashed up vegetables, fruit or baby tins! My sister has gone back to work so mum looks after Madeleine while her mummy is away. I am often at home also as I have quite a few convenient free periods from college. I adore being an Auntie and often feed, clothe and change Madeleine’s nappy, so I thought Id inform you all about Cow and Gate baby and toddler biscuits.
The health visitor suggested trying Cow and Gate biscuits instead of Farley’s Rusks as they contain less sugar. Now whether that is true or not I don’t know, but my sister got herself a box of the biscuits as the health visitor...

Cow and Gate Biscuits for babies NOT dogs
Review of Cow & Gate Baby Food by
DevilWomen
Advantages: good price, easy to hold
Disadvantages: none
...I must confess, i'm a huge fan of Cow & gate products (for baby of course, not me personally). When I came across the new range of biscuits for babies and toddlers, I just had to buy them!
These biscuits are small and shaped so they are easy to grip for little hands, although it has been said, they do resemble the shape of dog biscuits - so expect odd looks when feeding them to your child when out!
The biscuits are packed full of wonderful ingredients for your child -
6 cereals, which are Wheat, oats, maize, Barley, Rye and rice. They also contain calcium, for strong teeth and bones and added vitamins and minerals. Also they are soya free, egg free and suitable for vegetarians - So what more could you ask for????
Biscuits come in a foil tight pack which is resealable for freshness. You can give these to your baby as a snack...

COW & GATE BISCUITS FOR BABIES AND TODDLERS
Review of Cow & Gate Baby Food by
rojm
Advantages: easy for babies to hold
Disadvantages: can get messy
...These biscuits are in a foil packet inside a cardboard box.
The box says from 8 months but I fed them to my baby slightly earlier as she was ready for finger food.
The shape of the biscuits look like dog biscuits to me. They are designed so that small hands can grip them easily. (some other brands are a bit more difficult for babies to hold)
Each biscuit has "cow & gate" on it and what looks like an ear of corn.
They are made with six cereals (wheat, corn, oats, barley, rye and rice) and are fortified with calcium, iron and vitamins.
This is partly why I like these biscuits as at least there is goodness in them.
The biscuits seem to melt a bit in the mouth , but still don't leave baby alone whilst eating them. If like my baby the baby puts the biscuit in the mouth takes it out, turns it round etc they can be a bit messy...

Cow and Gate Baby and Toddler Biscuits
Review of Cow & Gate Baby Food by
Gwenick
Advantages: easy to hold, 5 different cereals, don't leave too much mess
Disadvantages: sugar
...Boneos. Well thats what they look like anyway. Cow and Gate Baby and Toddler Biscuits are my lifesaver. I always said that I'd never give my baby snacks, and if I did definitely not anything sweet.
Well, as I write this my 8 month son is sitting eating what looks like a Dog Biscuit. It must be said that my son has a monstrous appetite, and no matter how much he eats at meal times can never make it throught to the next meal without snacks. I tried giving him extra breastfeeds, but it simply wasn't enough.
Having tried various different 'finger foods', including Rusks (which he hated) I finanly stumble across these biscuits. Although they do have added sugar they contain 5 different cereals and therefore at least a little bit nutrious.
My son loves these. They are the perfect size for baby fingers to hold and go soft very...

Before buying a stair gate, read this op
Review of Mamas & Papas Super Pressure Fit Safety Gate by
GraingerN
Advantages: no. 1 safety, difficult operating mechanism for children to use
Disadvantages: none that I can think of
...When I moved into my new home the only thing I was unsure of was the fact it had split level bedrooms, the master being downstairs and the smaller upstairs. Considering there was just no way I could fit a double bed in the upstairs room after weighing up all options and what ifs to do with my daughter being upstairs with a gate fixed or downstairs and near to the front door and easy walk through access to the rest of the house including kitchen! I decided I had no option but to hunt around for a top of the range safety gate that wouldn't let me down so that I could rest at night knowing she was safe upstairs.
I did at first buy an extending gate as the opening to the top of my stairs is wider than average as it has a large step at the top which you have to turn right off of to step onto the landing but I didn't feel at all...
