The straighteners are not solid ceramic but ceramic coated, apparently; "The plates are ceramic coated as you cannot have solid ceramic plates that reach a temperature of 110oC as they are likely to crack." And of course the 230's go up to 230 degrees (10 temperature settings - 150 to 230 degrees C). (The cordless has only 5 temperature settings). I was worried about this coming off as my Wigo ones definitely look worn. I emailed Babyliss and they said "The coating on the ceramic would not come off under normal circumstances. If it should you could contact us to arrange repair or replacement under the terms of the guarantee." Well that's good then! My favourite time of year, a chance to put on that daring dress, sparkly shoes and reindeer headband, and trip the light fantastic every single night of the week! woooo hooo!!! ...With summer well on it's way I thought that it would be nice to get that tossled curl look, but unfortunatly I have quite fine flyaway hair so after about an hour or so after doing my hair it looks like a shaggy limp mess. Then I spotted these great Babyliss Curl and Press spiral tongs in my catologue priced at £28.99, and the ad promised to give long lasting defined curls. After ordering and waiting patiently for 3 days the tongs finally arrived, I whipped them straight out of the box, plugged them in and quickly read the instructions. ...These straightenners are excellent i would recommend them to anyone as you can change the temperature to suit your hair i.e; Thick or thin. I have Really Thick Frizzy Hair and any other straightners would straighten my hair , i would go out side and Boom!! ...I recently purchased the Babyliss Pro 230 Total Freedom, which is the same as the usual product but also has a cordless adaptor for ease of use and flexibility whilst rushing around getting ready for the day. I am now addicted. This hair straightener is the best I have ever bought, and it gets blimming hot! However there is a temperature control so you can adjust it to suit the finish you require and also your type of hair so that fine hair does not get damaged. The straighteners retail at £50 I believe but I managed to get them in a sale for £35, and they really are a great substitute for the infamous GHDs if you are on a budget. The cordless adaptor is quite good, although the idea is you charge the straighteners, then use them until they cool down, then reheat them again- can be quite a tiresome process if you have very long... ...These ceramic straighteners are the best straighteners I've ever had (and my last ones were ghds at nearly triple the price at around £100!!). They really are excellent value for money at around £40 or less. They heat up very fast (in just under 30 seconds) and they can be set to any temperature from 180 up to 230, I usually set them to 200 and they work brilliantly. I have very long, thick and wavy hair and these make my hair poker straight within minutes. You can also curl your hair very easily with these straightners. They're small and light and very easy to use (the plates are around an inch wide and 3-4 inches long). They come with 4 free dividing clips and a 5 year guarantee which really is an advantage when it comes to hair straighteners!
