Advantages: Excellent storylines and dialogue. Progressive development.
Disadvantages: CGI can be somewhat lacking but still better than early Star Trek.

When Babylon 5 first hit our screens way back in the ninties it had cutting edge CGI and a real hard story. we are not talking all nicey nicey star trek future, we are talking dark, gritty and far more realistic. Where Drug abuse is still vibrant with sinister officials and alot of cloak and dagger dealings. The Cast are fantastic, from Michael O'Hare (Tron) and Mira Furlan(Lost) to Andreas Katsulas(the Fugitive) and Billy Mumy(Lost in Space). They created a great onscreen releationship and helped in making the first proper sci-fi story arc. Season 1 only touches on the Story arc at small levels but it does lay the foundations...

Beyond Babylon

Advantages: Entertaining
Disadvantages: Not as good as the series

...These three films are based on the hit series Babylon 5. I am a great fan of the show and so enoyed watching the films, but found them not up to the same standard. Still, fans would probably enjoy them. Third Space Third Space is set during the forth season of Babylon 5. A strange artefact approaches the station and everyone is interested in finding out what it is. It turns out to be a doorway into a new type of space and it is sending through signals to the people on the station. Only Lyta knows the true danger they are all in. The series has many of the same brilliant characters as the series, but the plot is severely lacking. Nevertheless, there are a few interesting and amusing moments. One of my favourite scenes is Zack Allen trying to chat Lyta up and feeling immensely downhearted when she isn't interested. Too bad he...

...Although I ave always been a sci-fi fan Babylon 5 was the first series to really grab my attention and force me to watch every episode. Indeed, it is the first TV show that has ever made me want to own all of it on video. The story tells the history of the babylon 5 space station, located in neutral territory in a galaxy composed of five major races (humans, Centauri, Narn, Minbari and Vorlons). The story takes us through the reawakening of an ancient race (the Shadow'senemies of the Vorlons) and an inter-galatic war that changes things forever for every single inhabitant of the station and for most of the residents of the galaxy. The major seling point of the story is that every character is alive and changes through the programme. A decision made in one episode can have damning effects on the character mch later on...

...WHAT IS IT? Babylon 5: The Gathering, is actually the feature-length pilot episode for the very successful Babylon 5 series. Babylon 5 is a space station set up to promote peace in the galaxy during the 2250s.
