Advantages: Really black colour, gives good thickening effect in one coat, easy to apply Disadvantages: Quite pricey
...I'm not a big mascara fan - my sister spends an absolute fortune on the Lancome Hypnose, but having been lucky enough to inherit my Dad's dark, thick lashes, I don't see it as such a necessity so am pretty difficult to impress in the mascara stakes. I bought this in a set which contained Benefit's Dandelion, Benetint and this Bad Lashes Mascara - all for the bargain price of £43 - at £20 each for the Dandelion and the Benetint this was a bargain in itself and the mascara for me was an added bonus.
This mascara promises "the biggest, baddest lashes" and that wearing this will be "like wearing false eyelashes without the glue". Quite a bold claim!
The mascara follows on the same theme as their Bad Gal eyeliner with a really chunky black tube with silver tipped wand. The black, silver and pink colour scheme is really fun...
Advantages: Great volumising effect Disadvantages: Not waterproof
...The Benefit brand originated in San Francisco and follows the ethos of vintage glam, it reminds me of the 1940's era. The official website for the brand (www.benefitcosmetics.com) states that the aim was to create stores with a candy store like atmosphere. I bought thieir mascara for the first time when I moved away to university. Before that I hadn't had access to the brand Benefit and it's counters.
The mascara comes in a chunky tube, with white lettering on it for the brand name and words BAD gal, the word lash is written in pink. The wand is possibly one of the biggest ones I have ever seen in a mascara, which is perhaps why it is so successful in creating really big and volumised lashes when I use it. The containter holds 8.5grans or product and usually lasts me about six months; I am currently on my second tube.
There are however...
Advantages: glossy, long lashes Disadvantages: too expensive, not enough volume
...given the name 'Bad Gal Lash', that I would get very thick dark, perhaps even smudgy looking, rock-chick lashes. I was surprised that in fact the opposite seems to be true. My lashes definitely have added length, but there is very little added volume. This gives a quite subtle look, which is very demure and girly. It's a nice look, just not what I was expecting.
The mascara is long lasting and I haven't experienced it flaking out at all, which has happened with other brands. I do wear contact lenses and have not found this mascara irritates my eyes in any way.
As it doesn't say anywhere on the packaging that this is waterproof, I can only assume it isn't.
Aside from not adding much volume, I think the other main negative point about this has to be the price. Obviously mine came free with a magazine, but if you were to buy this it...
...I got this almost a year ago in my birthday bag of goodies that my sister is so good at getting for me. Knowing that I often scrounge hers and don't really indulge in the more expensive beauty products she always gets some great little luxuries for me!
~ Packaging ~
Just as the photo shows, this mascara comes in a very striking black and bright pink box and instantly looks expensive!
The mascara has a silver screw top lip and the base of it is black with large pink and white writing on it.
~ Price ~
Boots are currently selling this for £14.50 as are a few department stores like Fenwicks and Debenhams.
I've checked benefit website looking for better deals but it's the same price on there as well. So this is certainly not a cheap mascara!
~ What does it offer?~
Benefit are proud to brag of this mascara's 'big, bad...
Advantages: The boy character, the concept is a novelty and its pretty amusing Disadvantages: The swearing is a little over the top
...a part of me liked the idea of an antidote to the overly saccharine, sugary sweet sentimental family Christmas movies where everyone is perfect and whatever else, bah humbug to that, its so unrealistic and anyway its got to be somewhat of a novelty to see (or more, hear) a santa that swears like a trooper, right? ok so perhaps that shows a bad light on me for thinking that way but I admit it, I was somewhat interested to watch this movie knowing thats what it'd be like or would feature... a swearing santa, who'd have thought it?!
The movie is ok, although it will be a bit too dark for some im sure and of course this isn't at all for children, even though it does feature one fairly young kid in particular, I certainly wouldn't recommend it be shown to anyone under the age of about 16 or 17 at least.
It was somewhat amusing but I think...

Review of Bad Santa (DVD)
Advantages: Witty humour from Smith and Lawrence Disadvantages: Rushed plot and not a patch on the first movie...
...Director: Michael Bay.
Producer: Jerry Bruckheimer
Writers: Ron Shelton, Jerry Stahl, Cormac Wibberley and Marianne Wibberley
Stars: Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Jordi Mollá, Gabrielle Union, Peter Stormare, Theresa Randle and Joe Pantoliano.
Released by Columbia pictures in the summer of 2003, eight years after the original action/ comedy movie, being nearly 2 and a half hours long.
It is a known fact, (in my head anyway) , that many well established movies, which when first released, managed to create a rather large fan base due to its shear entertainment value, will always try and spawn a sequel or two in the hope that it will be as good, if not better than its forerunner ?
And as many sequels fall far short in that entertainment value this sequel to the 1995 hit ?Bad Boys? had a very high mountain to climb, considering...

Review of Bad Boys 2 (DVD)
...Sometimes its damning enough to simply state that a new movie is a 'distinctly average' example of its genre, especially when that particular genre is so overflowing with other better movies or other distinctly average movies. Bad Company, directed by Joel Schumacher, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and starring Chris Rock and Anthony Hopkins, fits into the brainless summer action movie genre and is, at best, a distinctly average example of it. Jerry Bruckheimer will never have the word 'intelligent' applied to any movie he gets involved with, but it has to be said this is one of the dumbest, most lamely scripted, hole-ridden, lack-lustre movies he has ever produced...and THAT is saying something when you consider his previous works have included the abysmal Pearl Harbor, Armageddon and numerous other no-brainers of enormous budget...

Review of Bad Company (DVD)
Advantages: Works well Disadvantages: It's rather pricey!
...of the magazine (£2.00) I simply couldn't resist buying it of course!
The Packaging....
The long cardboard box is black and bright pink in colour. On that in white and pink writing I'm told it is a Little Bit Bad Gal Lash from Benefit. Then I'm told it is mascara and the weight is stated. On the back of the box ingredients are listed, contact details for Benefit are given, and finally there is a bar-code on there. The tube (although smaller in my case) is a shiny black plastic, again with white and black writing on it telling Me it is Benefit Bad Gal Lash, on the back again I'm told it's Mascara, contact details for Benefit are given and finally there is a screw on/off bright silver lid that when you unscrew it you are met with a black plastic 'wand' and on the end of that there is a rather wide, thick spiral well formed and good quality brush...
Advantages: Brilliant volume without looking silly! Disadvantages: It's expensive... but highly worth it for a nice treat.
...comment on them, women at the beauty counters, friends... just about everyone exclaims I have lovely long lashes. I love having long lashes, unfortunately my lashes are quite like the hair on my head, they lack volume and tickness! I always have to choose good volume mascara's and not lengthening ones, they're long enough and using a normal mascara makes them look STUPIDLY long, sparse and quite like spiders legs! I'm always searching for a decent volume building mascara and whilst I usually stick with brands such as Bourjois, I have now come across the perfect mascara. You've guessed it, it's Benefit's Bad Gal Lash mascara!
This mascara gives my eye lashes lovely volume, they appear thicker however without clumpiness or that horrible overly fake look. I love wearing this mascara if I'm going out on an evening or just on a weekend, I don...
Advantages: Well written, well acted, incredible finale Disadvantages: May be a bit long for some people
...The Good, the Bad and the Ugly stars Clint Eastwood as Blondie, a professional gunslinger out trying to make a few bucks. Angel Eyes is a hit man who always sees his job through, as long as he is paid. And Tuco, a wanted outlaw only out for himself. These three find out about a stash of gold buried in a cemetery, and must battle it out with each other to see who gets it.
This is truly an epic film in every sense of the word. Fantastic sprawling shots show the isolation that a lot of these people were in, and the music reflects that. Aside from the classic opening tune, it's very minimalistic, sometimes only the wind howling being the only thing on the soundtrack. Occasionally you get a gentle strum on the guitar, and a lone trumpet, which really reflects the loneliness and the vastness between neighboring towns, where people traveling...
