Scrooged. Dont bother with every other version

...the film is the victim of a variety of slapstick jokes as is the film censure who keeps having things fall on her. The film opening really sets the pace for a great comedy. Chrismas Eve at the North Pole and Santa and the elves are busy working hard when al of a sudden balaclavaed gunmen appear and start opening up on the place (when I was wee I used to think they were the UVF attacking Santa Cluas, Northern Ireland mentality hey?) but never fear Santa happens to have a well stocked gun cabinet and the elves start to man the defences. You'll see a few other jibes at mindless 80s action films throughtout the film. Murray's performance is genius. He is so funny. There a variety of subtle jokes I never got watching it in the past that I've just discovered. The three ghosts are also quite different with the ghost of christmas past being...

A little pain, a little gain

Advantages: Battery and mains operated, built in light to help you see, choice of heads
Disadvantages: Can be painful, initially expensive, unclear instructions, lack of a shaver adaptor plug in box

...I cannot believe I am writing a review for an epilator. Really - I cannot. I am the biggest wuss out there when it comes to pain, so that has ruled out waxing, and I also detest the smell of depilatory creams, meaning I have been shaving for years. That changed last year when I was given the opportunity to try out a Braun Silk Epil Xpressive epilator. At the time it was branded the 7681 but it is now branded as the 7781 despite being exactly the same product - a fact Amazon backs up. I will not lie when I say I had to think long and hard about trying this one out. I love a freebie but its no use to anyone if its something you don't really want to try, akin to buying a bright orange balaclava because its 50p, as opposed to something you actually want or need. After two non-military adventures (see previous reviews), Flashman is back in the saddle as a Colonel in the 17th Lancers and has been asked to nursemaid Prince William of Celle, one of Queen Victoria's relations. The army is soon on its way to the Crimea and Flashman suffers through battles such as Alma, before the big one at Balaclava.... Not many people realise (I certainly didn't) that there wasn't just one charge at Balaclava, there were three, including the Charge of the Light Brigade. Flashman, with his knack of ending up in the soup, is in all three. Favourite Worst Nightmare - The Arctic Monkeys

Advantages: 10/10 - Easy to Swallow, Hard to Dislike Album - You will bob your head I promise.
Disadvantages: Only Ones Who Know, Not quite sure how that slipped in there.

...Well, How do you follow up one of the greatest albums of the decade? Easy, Favourite Worst Nightmare is the natural follow up to Whatever People Say I Am, Thats What I'm Not. It has an awesome drum opening to the album with Brianstorm, closely followed by Tedddy Picker to put you in the mood to bob in your seat. The lyrics are well thought and clever as usual and leave nothing to the imagination. The Monkeys stick to what they're good at in D is for Dangerous and Balaclava and i think there is an instant classic in Flourescent, the song is just amazing lyrically and melodic you cant help but sing along. Only Ones Who Know is the only average song on the album which takes a bit of a meloncholy vibe and doesn't really seem to fit the album, but this is quickly forgotten about with the honest lyrics of Do Me A Favour at track 7...

Advantages: Second great album from the Arctic Monkeys
Disadvantages: Might need to listen a few times

...injected into his songs is amazing. Whereas the debut album felt like an old pair of shoes that you just can't throw away, Favourite Worst Nightmare takes a bit of listening to. great film even if you hate family films

Advantages: Suitable for everyone, but unusually enjoyable. Take your kids and actually enjoy it yourself too.
Disadvantages: A little saccahrin in places, but rises above this at the end/

...type set-up, except they are the size of humans, and wear balaclavas in public to disguise their thumbyness. I presume they are computer generated, but the thumb things are totally convincing and excellently integrated into the scenes. Theres a bit where the two spykids find the factory that makes the thumbs and you breifly see a sexy thin nurse thumb in nurses uniform with red nail polish treating a chunky henchthumb. A real pleasant surprise and highly recommended to both grandparents and young hip action loving parents too, which is unusual nowadays. A rare gem of a film....
