A fantastic read for all ages.
Advantages: Very enjoyable storyline, some intense football moments, excellent characterization of young kids.
Disadvantages: Very addictive.
...It is very difficult for 10 year old kids to accept defeat and to understand the hardest facts of human life that not everything is achievable; we can only try our best. Kids, who grow up in a family where they are used to getting everything given to them, find it difficult to cope in the outside world. Bali Rai has vividly presented this universal truth about life in such an excellent way in his book.
?Soccer Squad? is a children?s book series written by British writer Bali Rai. He has masterfully described the transition of kids from childhood to early adulthood and their strong emotions and passions towards football. ?Starting Eleven? is the pilot book of the series, which is intended for 7+ years?. It basically revolves around daily life and the thoughts of four young lads and their dream of playing in a local football club named...

Bali in the Rain
Advantages: Good size room, good food, friendly service, umbrellas
Disadvantages: Easy to get lost!
...I've been looking forward to going to Bali for a long time. For nigh on twenty years in fact, it has been up near the top of my 'Gotta Go' list, but there's always somewhere else that has just nudged its way ahead because of convenience, or price. Or those words that cannot be ignored: "No, I want to go to....", accompanied by a look that says 'ignore at your peril'...
So when a business trip allowed me to visit Bali for a night and day, I was not going to argue. My meetings were mostly in Kuta, the first planned hotel fell through so I ended up at the Padma Bali. The website looked promising, there was going to be a couple of hours of free time, so I packed my swimming trunks and sunblock. Here we go!
Arrival
All was looking good as the plane eased to a halt in front of the terminal and the steps were pushed up. I smiled...

Bleurgh to Bali
Advantages: Hot, sunny, cheap food and a local KFC!!
Disadvantages: Dirty, not nice beaches and the sea was too rough!
...As you can tell by the title Bali was not my ideal holiday - do apologise to anyone that loves it!
Bali was part of a three centre holiday that included Bangkok and Hong Kong in October 2001. Bangkok was for the first three nights, Hong Kong for the last two nights and Bali was the nine nights in the middle. The flight to Bangkok was around 12 hours then another flight of about 6 hours to get to Bali, we landed in Denpasar which is the capital of Bali, we had a coach take us to the Hotel that was about an hour away.
When we got to Bali we were taken to Grand Bali Beach in Sanur, the reception was very impressive, lots of marble and escalators being the focal attraction, surrounded with lush greenery. We were given our room keys and found we were staying in one of the garden view rooms, these we like little chalets that were...

Wonderful Bali : Island of Nature
Advantages: Beauty nature, bargainable price, multicultural societies.
Disadvantages: Some prices are relatively high, english language ability.
...I've been to Bali three times in my life. And I must suggest you to go there! =) First of all, mentioning beach, Bali has a lot of beautiful beaches, including Kuta beach, Legian beach, Sanur beach and many more. It is well-known in Bali for spending time watching sun-being-set in the mouth of the coast. It was wonderful. The seas are somehow blue, reflecting the meaning of the real sea, what should it be. Second, the shopping center. It is growing everyhwere, with some international brands take participation. Third, the place to stay. It is very easy in Bali to find out the place to stay, even for a night only. Hotels, ranging from 1-star until 7-star are there to serve you, with good and acceptable standard. Four, the society. Bali is known as one international island in Indonesia, and of course, English language is likely to be spoken...

sanur,bali
Advantages: lots to do,spectacular scenery,good seafood,beautiful beaches
Disadvantages: hassled to buy things, coral was dead so snorkelling not great
...Lovely beaches but not as quiet as I expected or I was told. I went during the christmas period where business is very slow for the locals so everyone was desperate to sell you something or get you to go on a day trip. This is good when your are wanting to sightsee and there are many things to see and do in Bali but not so good if you can not even lie on the beach for half an hour. it was an absolutely fantastic and interesting experience and the people are very welcoming and willing to tell you all about their religion, culture.Be warned that you will be taken to many different shops no matter if you go with a local guide or the hotel guide. One local guide, named Tarzan(yes for real!) was a real pleasure to spend days with and nights drinking in the bar he worked in, he is worth asking around for. Beautiful place, seeing the rice fields...

I urge you to go back to Bali
Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: See opinion
...On Saturday October 12th 2002 just after 11pm a small bomb exploded in Paddy’s Bar on Legian Street in Kuta, Bali. This was shortly followed by a huge explosion that came from a car parked across the street outside the Sari Club. Both Paddy’s Bar and the Sari Club were full of young people; travellers, tourists, surfers, honeymooners, ex-pats, bar staff, doormen, prostitutes, DJs. A mix of people from all over the world and from all walks of life, all with one thing in common, to drink, dance, mingle and enjoy themselves. Both bombs killed people outright, and then fires started. Most buildings in Bali are made mainly of wood, these were no exception, the fires spread rapidly, and the buildings collapsed trapping hundreds of people. The lucky ones managed to escape, over 400 were injured, a huge part of Kuta was destroyed...

Kuta Bali: "Ibiza in Indoensia" is just too much for me...
Advantages: Nightlife, good place to learn how to surf
Disadvantages: Full of drunken tourists, no real budget accommodation, zero culture....
...Kuta Bali is known for it's nightlife more than anything these days and this is why it's often refered to by backpackers as the Ibiza of Indonesia.
Not even the Bali bombings (Muslim extremists bombed two bars in Kuta killing scores of people) several years ago managed to seriously impact Bali's tourist business.
Kuta is dominated by Australians who tend to view it the same way Brits view Ibiza and the Canary Islands; A place to get drunk and party for much less than they would at home, with great beaches and reliably hot and sunny weather.
Other than the nightclubs, bars, resturants, shops, and travel agents selling tickets and packages to other destinations in Indonesia, the only other thing Kuta really has are Surf instructing shops selling surfing lessons.
The waves on kuta beach are perfect for beginners as well as pro...

Disadvantages: Hawkers, Long Flight
...BALI AND NUSA DUA, KUTA
I went to Bali in September 2002 and we stayed in the tourist region of Nusa Dua, which is only about 15 minute drive from DENPASAR, Kuta Airport. The hotel we stayed at was called Melia Bali which is one of the top hotels on the Island.

Solitary Fine Dining on White Sandy Beach - Bali
Advantages: best fine dining at great value
Disadvantages: far away from my home town
...It was another pleasing experienced for me when I got the chance to explore a new place to indulge my appetite during my short holiday in Bali & found this fine dining, Ma Joly Restaurant.
The Location :
Strategically located in Tuban area, around 10 minutes from the international airport, in conjunction with Kuta beach and buzzing Kuta area, the road to Tuban beach, Jln. Pantai Segara, swings right at the Bali Hai Resort. What appears to be a dead-end is actually the entrance to The Sandi Phala (Kupu Kupu Barong Resort) which we will find Ma Joly Restaurant, a surprisingly solitary fine dining place, a part from the resort. The best way to get here is by taxi or call the restaurant for free pick up service.
The Venue :
Located by a beautiful stretch of white sandy beach, the place has never ending amazing scenery...
