Roxette popping out the love ballads

Advantages: Some great tunes
Disadvantages: Some weak links, especially for a best of style album

...'The Ballad Hits' by Roxette is a compilation of some of the duo's greatest ever tracks. Roxette is essentially a group of two from Sweden, named Marie and Per. They were huge in the late 1980s and throughout the whole of the 1990s. At the turn of the millenium, their popularity levelled out, and since Marie's surgery to remove a brain tumour in 2003, they have paled behind the scenes somewhat. This album was released early 2003 in the UK, and contains such tracks as 'Listen To Your Heart' and their smash hit 'It Must Have Been Love'. There are 15 tracks in all, most were seen in their album 'Don't Bore Us - Get To The Chorus', but this ballad album does reveal a few new songs. These are the tracks: 1. A Thing About You 2. It Must Have Been Love 3. Listen To Your Heart 4. Fading Like A Flower 5. Spending My Time 6. Queen...

Old Melbourne Gaol

Advantages: Good way to pass an afternoon or morning out of the Melbourne sun.
Disadvantages: Not really much to see, but still worth it

...To be honest there is not really a lot left to see of the original Gaol, as most of it was pulled down to make way for the University. All that is left is on three story wing, though it is the wing which contained NED KELLY prior to his execution. The most famous exhibt, thanks to BILLY CONNELLY, are the wanking mits, displayed in a case in Cell No 13 on the ground floor. A guide explains via, a model of the gaol what exactly you can see, and a brief history of the gaol, after that you can wander round visiting each of the cells, all of which are open, though there are over 30, and in my view once you've seen one bare cell you've seen them all. Story boards in some cells explain the history of transportation & the Australian Penal system, plus the history of the Gaol and the story of Ned Kelly. There is also a chance to walk...

Ideally Located For A Reading Pub Crawl

Advantages: Nice and central, cheap price
Disadvantages: The extras are a little bit expensive

...It would seem over the last few months I've spent almost as much time staying in Hotel rooms as I have in my own flat, which can prove rather costly. One of my more recent excursions was to the Novotel in Friar Street in reading. Now being as how I only live in Basingstoke, getting a hotel for the night in Reading might seem a little bit pointless, but as it was my leaving do from work it seemed a cheaper and simpler option than trying to get home. That said, once all the little extra bits and pieces are added on it soon mounts up and what seemed like a good idea at the time, was perhaps a little too close to home to justify. As I'd decided upon the need to book myself a hotel room I paid a visit to the Novotel website where I managed to secure the room for a reasonable price. I've stayed in Novotel's quite a few times before so knew...

POWERFUL BALLADS SOME CLASSIC ROCK!!!

Advantages: Some great classic listening!
Disadvantages: Brings back sad memories!

.... Fantastic sounding song with great musical crescendos throughout. Another classic. 10/10 The CD comes in a normal Jewel Case with a flip over section inside to place both CD’s. Front cover graphics are full colour of the earth placed above a long straight American Highway at dusk, bold white text tells you the album is named POWER BALLADS and a list of main artists at bottom of cover in smaller text. Hope you've enjoyed reading this as much as I have enjoyed listening and writing this, my first music op. I would appreciate any feedback on what your thoughts are. Take care Heather:)...

How to be heterosexual in The Ballad of Gay Tony

Advantages: Enormous fun factor, replay potential good, brilliant new additions
Disadvantages: Over fairly quickly

...As I begin this review I can't help but feel that it's good to be back on Ciao after an extended hiatus. So too, is it, to be back in Liberty City after growing weary of playing as a cynical, mentally-tortured Eastern European citizen. I skipped The Lost and Damned for GTA4, as bikes are not my thing, but when I saw the original trailers for The Ballad of Gay Tony, I could only think "Sign me up!", and I say this with the utmost assurance that I am straight. From the first glimpse of the, dare I say it, high-octane exploits in the trailer, to the tantalising reveal at the end (I speak, of course, of the return of the parachute from San Andreas), this was a DLC I would simply have to get my hands on. Figuratively speaking. Let me start with the real review by mentioning our protagonist, in this case Luis Lopez; street-wise, connected...

The Ballad Hits by Roxette hit the UK!

Advantages: nice ballads
Disadvantages: --

...Hi ciao-UK! I'm from Germany and I thought about writing an opinion on the English speaking CIAO UK-site. My English is not the best, as you might get to know while reading my opinion about one of the latest albums by Roxette, "The Ballad Hits". We have a very strong tracklist with four very new songs by the Swedish pop-duo Roxette, Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. When they released this album in Europe in 2002, bad news about Marie Fredriksson, the lead-singer, spread out around the world like a wild fire. Today the singer is still recovering and getting better and better. Tracklist: 1.A Thing About You 2.It Must Have Been Love 3.Listen To Your Heart 4.Fading Like A Flower 5.Spending My Time 6.Queen of Rain 7.Almost Unreal 8.Crash! Boom! Bang! 9.Vulnerable 10.You Don't Understand Me 11.Wish I Could Fly 12...

Chickenfeed - a Quick Read!

Advantages: An enjoyable read suitable for everyone!
Disadvantages: That I had initially dismissed 'Quick Reads'

... Minette Walters Minette Walters is one of my top ten authors, and I had read all of her books aside from her latest ("The Chameleon's Shadow") and one which I'd heard about called "Chickenfeed" but for reasons I will explain hadn't yet got round to reading. Minette Walters is famous for books such as "The Ice House", "The Sculptress" (which was made into a fantastic TV drama staring Pauline Quirk), "Acid Row", and "Fox Evil". She has written 14 books including Chickenfeed. They are of the crime/psychological thriller genre. Personally I would equate her writing to a slightly more modern version of Ruth Rendell (sorry Ruth, I do enjoy your books too). I feel that Walter's books would appeal to both men and women, although I am not a man, so I cannot be absolutely sure! I first got into her books through my mum when I...

Chili's Bar and Grill - Oracle Riverside, Reading

Advantages: Delicious Food, Great Service, Available all day
Disadvantages: Couldn't book on Saturday night

...Last Saturday (12th June), some friends and I decided we would go into Reading town centre for a meal, in order to continue with my birthday celebrations. Searching the net, I came across several restaurants all based in and around the Oracle, Reading?s newest shopping centre, and as we would be walking into town, this seemed the ideal location and found restaurants varying from American to Mexican to British Cuisine. I?m useless at making decisions when it comes to choosing somewhere to eat, as I like to satisfy everyone?s different tastes, so I compared a couple of the menu?s for a few of the restaurants, Old Orleans, Ma Potters Grill and Chili?s. And Chili?s came out on top with the greatest selection. *Location* The Chili?s Bar and Grill I visited, is based in the Riverside Unit of the Oracle Shopping Centre, in Reading...

Burn After Reading - laugh after watching

Advantages: Great performances, funny and unpredictable
Disadvantages: A bit indulgent in parts

...Burn After Reading is a Coen brothers' black comedy starring Frances McDormand, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and John Malkovich. Linda (McDormand) and Chad (Pitt) play gym employees that hit upon a money making scheme when they accidentally unearth what they believe to be a tape containing some sort of military intelligence. As Linda begins dating Treasury agent Harry (Clooney) who is also having an affair with Katie (Tilda Swinton) who is married to Osborne (Malkovich) the story becomes more and more complicated as all of these lives intersect in a web of double-crossing, phoney espionage, cosmetic surgery and obscene DIY projects. This is one of the most original and interesting comedies I have seen in a long time. I went to the cinema thinking I would probably enjoy it - I enjoy Coen brothers' films and love Frances Mc...

By theTime You Read This, I will have forgotten it!

Advantages: A typical Chick Lit novel
Disadvantages: Characters a little weak, plot appeals to limited audience.

...Review of ?By The Time You Read This? a novel by Lola Jaye. The Book I am reviewing the paperback version of this novel, the first from the pen of Lola Jaye. The book is published by Harper Collins under ISBN number 0007266553 . The book contains 321 pages and bears the jacket price of £6.99. The cover is eye catching and modern, a very feminine floral design which fits well with the contemporary fiction/chick lit genre of the novel. The Plot Twelve year old Lois Bates is devastated when her mother decides to re-marry. Lois and her mother have been alone since Lois was five years old, following the untimely death of Lois' father, Kevin. Kevin Bates passed away from an illness, which the book never actual touches upon at the age of 30. Lois cannot understand that her mother wishes to marry again and feels that her...
