...The direct banking arm of The Royal Bank of Scotland is superb. I have been using the telephone banking for over two years and have not experienced a single fault. Each instruction is executed at the time I have specified, and small touches like a freephone balance check and mini statement are appreciated. The sharedealing facility is good value also. I have recently started banking by pc, and the number of security features in place are reassuring. The user interface is clear and efficient, and coupled with an online savings account offering 5% interest, I look forward to using direct banking to manage my account more effectively.... ...This is the computer age, all information is stored on a computer. So where do high street banks store your info, on a computer. Where do online banks store your info, on a computer. So both can be hacked, so what is the difference. There is just one, the online banks allow access to users to a certain section of the database, so that they can bank. As long as the firewalls between these seperate databsaes are in place and strong, things should be fine. I have used three on line banks for nine months and had no problems, in fact they are more effcient than the high street banks, plus with better interest and instant access to you the customer to the information. Everyone will feel a little uneasy, but if a hacker wants to get you on the modern age they will, online bank or not. So I would use them and feel safe.... Read review

...I have been banking with Lloyds now for a few years after switching over from Barclays. I have found that the overall service from Lloyds is greater than any of the other bank's around. The interest rate is good on my savings account, and there are always a number of extras in the lloyds cashpoint account. The Bank is a secure firm and the money is very safe, no kidding. There are a number of cashpoints around the country and you can even use your card in other leading bank cashpoints in Britain. So I would reccommed Lloyds to anyone who wants a good decent bank account where I have yet to have any problems.... Read review

...When in Dublin why not visit one of the cities most busiest buildings – this buildings aside being a everyday bank is also a location for us visitors who are looking to explore the history of the city. The building was used as Irelands parliament building ( the House of Lords ) until it was purchased by the Bank of Ireland and converted into a everyday running bank ( the Bank of Irelands head quarters ) Despite being used as a bank a tour is run showing the visitor the other side of the story of this beautiful building.... ...Barclays provide a great service for students. The reason I initially took a Barclays account was because it was the closest bank to uni, but that wouldnt be a big problem even if it weren't so close because there are so many branches of each type of bank scattered around. The no quibble interest free overdraft limit is £1250 which has proved to be very handy - and thats exactly what it is - NO QUIBBLE!! Friends who bank at other places have regular complaints about the service there bank provides - hassles getting there overdrat extended and things like that whereas I can ring up a branch and extend mine by phone. ...The Co-op bank is in my opinion the best “high street” bank to be with. I like to think of myself as an environmentally conscious person and the ethics of the Co-op bank are consistent with this. None of the money entrusted to them is used unethically and this policy is strictly upheld. I support their emphasis on phone and internet banking – anything that saves paper must be a good thing. I have not had reason to actually enter a branch of the bank for many years now – all money being paid in by cash or cheque can go via the post office (thus indirectly supporting the keeping open of local Post Offices). The staff are efficient and helpful and I would recommend the bank to any forward-thinking person who likes to be secure in the knowledge that their money is being used wisely.... Read review

...To be very honest this is the Bank I work for. Canara Bank is an Indian Bank, most of the branches are in India and their is only 1 branch in England they deal with Imports/Exports, Loans and mostly transferring money over to India, America and in England, I have an account with this Bank and I have to say it is probably the best thing I have ever done, they don't charge me for taking out my money from the cashier and they are more efficient than most banks I have been to + the interest isn't to bad either. I think the only best banks around now are the small branches that are not very well known.... Read review

...I am a big fan of online banking. I bank with barclays and opted to bankonline a few moths ago. It is so easy to sign up, if your bank offers online banking then ask them to sign you up or you can apply online, they will then send you a membership number and a personal pin number. I think there are many advantages and a few disadvantages to online banking, they are If you desperately need to know your balance and it is a weekend, obviously the bank is closed but you can check your balance online 24hrs a day. If you want to pay a bill then you can do this online If you want to transfer some money into another account you can also do this online Disadvantages could be that someone could see your details if you do not log off properly. ...Bank of Cypus has a cute logo which is very attractive especially if you like cartoons like me. The Bank of Cyprus however works very closely within the community and you would need to be recommended by an account holder in order to open an account with it. The last I know the Bank of Cyprus offered £10 or £20 just to open an account with it. The recommendation part is a bit of a headache since any potential customer would have to know somebody who is already a customer of the bank. But if the potential customer does not know any body who is already a customer of the bank then the bank loses that potential customer, even if that potential customer has the necessary identification documents to prove his or her identity.... ...Up until a couple of years ago I had always banked with Lloyds, however on graduating from university I decided to have a look at what others banks had to offer at the time. Everything that I heard about FD was always very positive and I found that the transferring of my account from Lloyds was surprisingly painless. The bank originally started as a 24hr telephone bank account, which means that you can carry out all your banking needs over the phone. Furthermore as the bank is part of HSBC this also means you can use all HSBC banks if desired. Last year I started using the Internet banking facility (which has recently been given a facelift) and have found this to be excellent. Although I also have savings accounts with both Egg and Smile I don't think that I'd feel happy to lose the telephone banking facility for my current account... Read review
