Review of Bank of Ireland & House of Lords, Dublin by LIZZIE241079

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...When in Dublin why not visit one of the cities most busiest buildings – this buildings aside being a everyday bank is also a location for us visitors who are looking to explore the history of the city. The building was used as Irelands parliament building ( the House of Lords ) until it was purchased by the Bank of Ireland and converted into a everyday running bank ( the Bank of Irelands head quarters ) Despite being used as a bank a tour is run showing the visitor the other side of the story of this beautiful building.... Current Account Charges
Review of Bank of Ireland Accounts by KAnderssen

Advantages: Friendly service. Easy to open.
Disadvantages: The charges!

...I opened a BoI Current Account when I moved to Northern Ireland some years ago. When I read the terms and conditions of the account, I noted the usual, free banking whilst in credit. However, I later slipped into the red for a few days(as everyone does from time to time), and ended up being charged over £80.00. What the Bank of Ireland does not make clear in their terms and conditions is that if you slip into the red, customers are charged approximately 30p for every cheque, debit via switch, and direct debit for the whole of the quarter in which you were overdrawn, whether the account was in the red or not! For someone who relies greatly on their cheques and debit cards, and who gets overdrawn every now and then, this account will throw your budget into complete chaos!... Read review

Bank of ireland
Review of Bank of Ireland by lesleyanne18

Advantages: Friendly staff
Disadvantages: Long Cues

...Bank of Ireland I have been a customer of bank of Ireland for some time now, and I have to admit I have never had any problems with the service. I have a basic saving account and a credit card with this bank - and I have been a loyal customer every since. I opened an account when I was 17, and they were very helpful as I had no ID, so they worked hard with me to get a way of opening an account for me, which I appreciated very much. This account is not a card account, just a savings account - meaning I had to physically go into a bank branch to withdraw or deposit money. I didn't mind as they had 3 branches in my area, which is very handy. I then became a student and was offered a student credit card with all these brilliant deals, so in fell into the trap unfortunately, and now I owe them 800 quid . That's one thing I don... amazing experience
Review of Bank of Ireland & House of Lords, Dublin by LIZZIE241079

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...This beautiful building , located beside Trinity College University on Dame Street – College Street, was not originally built to house a bank but to house the Irish parliament. There is an excellent tour given in which visitors are taken into the parliament chambers (House of Lords) and seated around a large oval table. Your guide acts out the part of the leading member of the house giving you a detailed account of the history of this beautifully built building. The building stills houses some amazing articles of historical interest including a magnificent 1233 piece chandelier of 1788 and two vast Huguenot tapestries of the Siege of Derry and the Battle of the Boyne... Why is it Royal still...
Review of Royal Mail by Mattnottm

Advantages: Quite fast delievery times, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Europe stamps expensive

...what. The post gets to you, so what is the problem?? I requested some information from a telephone bank, based in Edinburgh one afternoon. The information was on the hallway floor the next morning. If that isn't speedy, I don't know what is. Postal prices are reasonable, but then again I do not have to pay out often for them. Letters to Continental Europe seem to cost a lot. 36p from here to Ireland. Ireland it costs 30 pence (now remember that Ireland has a different exchange rate, so 30p there is cheaper than here). Counter services haven't really changed that much but are quite good. Staff are only too pleased to help. Overall, the Post Office is good. Keep the colour red, as we don't want bold yellow of the Deutsche Post. Though, Ireland has a lovely shade of green....... Read review

A rare oul' time
Review of Dublin (Ireland) by Lad

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...As far as European Cities go it is hard to beat Dublin. On the other hand, If you are looking for the 'real' Ireland you would probably do well to avoid Dublin altogether. The city is teaming with things to do and steeped in history and culture. You can enjoy the hustle and bustle of the busy shopping areas around Grafton Street, the lively and vibrant Temple Bar area (which is the place to go if you want a drink), the tranquility of Stephens Green (the largest enclosed city park in Europe), and the numourous attractions such as Dublin Castle and Kilmainham Gaol. A typical walk will take you from the garden of remembrance at the top of O'Connell Street, past the GPO where the Easter Rising took place in 1916, down past the statue of Daniel O'Connell and across the River Liffey. Next you will pass the impressive Bank of Ireland building... Read review

Fancy A Quick trip To Ireland Book Here
Review of irishferries.com by polydeuces

Advantages: Very easy to use
Disadvantages: Not much of a cash incentive to use it

...After our main summer was a bit of a disappointment due to choosing just about the only time when there was sustained poor weather we decided to take a quick trip to Ireland to visit friends. We opted to book to be in Dublin and further into Ireland over the Bank Holiday weekend. Little did we know we would be joining thousands of people in Dublin who were going to Slane Castle for a concert to be given by a popular local beat combo called U2. Notwithstanding that Dublin was busy I was surprised just how easy it was to book using Irish Ferries own web site. I have booked a few things on the web now and ordered many things. As each month goes by I seem to use it for shopping and bookings more and more. There is no doubt if sites are as easy to use as this one it will happen more and more. I had tried to book with Stena Lines using... Read review

Tucan Country
Review of General: Ireland by petersmyth1

Advantages: Good for sales of umbrellas
Disadvantages: Bad for sale of sun tan oil

...Being a broth of a boy from Ireland I thought it was time I gave my sincere thoughts on my homeland. The Irish Tourist Board should be waving a 6 figure cheque in my direction for even thinking of writing opinion that will have, at the very least, 30,000 members jumping at the chance to rush to their banks and convert their pounds to punts. So far no luck, but I haven’t posted the damned opinion or told them about it yet. Lets start at the beginning with the name Ireland. Classically educated members and cryptic crossword addicts will know ire means anger and everybody else knows land means country. Now let’s put these 2 together and we get angry country, amazing who’d have believed that. I have lived all my life in this bigoted island, barring holidays and seclusions... Read review

Nationwide - beats all the banks hands down!
Review of Nationwide Building Society by TonyOg

Advantages: Full service bank account, extremely good value, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Punitive "bad behaviour" fees

...I had banked with First Trust Bank in Northern Ireland for many expensive years, paying £3.50 to set up direct debits, £7.00 to cancel them and so on....... fed up with the excessive charges I made the jump and moved my current account across to Nationwide's FlexAccount. And I've never looked back! There are many reasons I would recommend the Nationwide and it's Current Account offering "FlexAccount", but the main ones are: Cheapness Everything, and I mean everything, in terms of day to day banking is extremely cheap using Nationwide's FlexAccount. For example, * no Direct Debit setup or cancellation fees * no overdraft arrangement fees * no foreign ATM usage fees (the only UK bank / BS to do this) * no foreign Debit Card usage fees (again, the only UK bank / BS to do this apart from Liverpool Victoria I think) * 6... Wonderful
Review of General: Ireland by Lad

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...For friendly people, culture, beautiful scenery and mighty 'craic' Ireland is the place to be. For residents of Great Britain Ireland is easily accessible by via a short ferry crossing or around an hour (or less) by plane. Although the country has a reputation for being expensive this is no longer really true. The current exchange rates mean that for every pound sterling you can get an extra twenty or so pence in Irish money, so any price differences are compensated for. Many items are far cheaper, and in particular petrol is almost half the UK price. The greatest thing about a visit to Ireland is the friendliness of the people. You are completly overwhelmed by the welcome that you recieve in every pub, shop, hotel etc. and even when driving along the road people will stop and wave. I have been to Ireland five times now, and am returning... Read review
