...I decided to get a yoga video and it was pointed out to me, that the best video to get would be Barbara Currie as she is 58 years old and what she looks like speaks for itself. Getting excercise videos from the latest star who has brought one out, may be all well and good, but be realistic we are never going to look like them. This lady looks like she is in her 30's and all from yoga, so she must be doing something right. The video was bought from Amazon.co.uk for £9.99 £3 off recommended price. This video caters for beginners and advanced users, there are 3 people on the video, Barbara Currie and 2 other ladies, one demonstrates the beginners exercises and the other lady demonstrates the advanced, it is so easy to follow. ...I wanted a basic introduction to yoga before I embarrased myself down the local gym by taking a class. After all, we're not born knowing how to tell a tree balance from an eagle balance. Anyway, after getting a free 10-minute Barbara Currie video with a magazine which whet my apetite, I thought i'd give this video a try. Barbara herself talks you through the poses as she does them. There are also 2 of her 'students' standing behind her, one demonstrating the beginners level of each posture and the other what you can achieve when you are more advanced. The workout is set in a light airy studio with soft, relaxing music in the background. Barbara is very calming to listen to, she has a light lilting voice that talks you through everthing slowly. Advantages: It's for beginners and those more advanced, and barbara talks you through everything
Disadvantages: Not enough info on complimentary stretches.

...Barbara Currie is an expert yoga teacher of indeterminate age, with such a deep, 'I-love-you-guy's' kind of voice it sounds a bit affected. You just know that after each workout she picks her leotard out of her butt, shoves the cameraman out of the way and screams to her assistant 'Get me a fag, I'm frigging gasping 'ere!!'. But on to the video... She gives some very good advice at the beginning about doing yoga at least 2 hours after eating (trust me, you should heed this), inhaling and exhaling with every movement (but like she say's, if she forgets to tell you when to breathe out, listen to your lungs or else keel over), not to perform if you're pregnant and to consult your doctor if you're not sure you're up to it for another medical reason. ...Recently I had made some Chicken and Pineapple kebabs for tea and was left with 1/2 a tin of pineapple rings in the fridge. The following day I was thinking what to do for tea using the Pineapple rings and as it was Saturday, it is normally curry night in the Paulpry cottage. My favourite from the local Indian Takeaway is a Chicken Balti Kaghani which is made from mint sauce, cream, pineapple and mushrooms, so with me being the adventurous type when it comes to cooking thought I would try to make it. The Ultimate Curry Bible?

Madhur Jaffrey is one of the most succesful Indian cooks and is a best selling cookery author so I thought this book would be the place to start. First of all this book is very visually appealing - the cover is quite pleasing and not over the top. The real pleasure begins when you open the book however, as it has beautiful pictures and illustrations in the introductory chapter and at the beginning of each section. Currys on the otherhand- offered s*d all, they refused to take my mum's (whom is 70 and 3 stone under weight, suffering from high blood pressure) old washing machine- as the door was jammed shut and there was water in it- (How exactly does one force open the door and drain the water away - without flooding the kitchen?) they did not unpack and check the new machine- which they state they do on their web site, they were two days late delivering, and finally- they did not plumb in the new machine- which we paid them to do when placing the order- they claimed they could not plumb it in due to the pipes being wrong- erm- so how did the other machine work then? The real reason is- the area is small and it is a fiddely job- they just couldn't be bothered. I called the number listed for their head office- but it seems head office...

No Frills Beef Curry

...Beef Curry Recently cooked this for my wife and I and it was surprisingly simple. A delicious beef curry, not with too many frills but just right. It will easily serve 2 and takes about 45 minutes, which includes the prep time as well! Your Ingredients: 200g stewing beef. 1 red pepper. 1 onion. 1 Tablespoon of curry powder. 1 Tablespoon of Tomato Puree. 1 tin of chopped tomatoes. Optional: 1 clove of garlic Cooking: 1. Chop the beef into cubes, about 1 or 2cm square and brown them off in a pan for about 5 minutes 2. Add the chopped onion and pepper and cook for a further 5 minutes. (Garlic can also go in here but as we are both not a fan we missed this out). 3. Add in the tablespoon of Curry powder and stir in. 4. Add in the tin of toms and the Tomato puree. 5.
