York 50kg Barbell and Dumbell Set

Advantages: Reliable, easy to use
Disadvantages: Spinlock safety locks not very secure if not tightened properly

...I purchased this about a year ago and was pretty impressed with it. With the set you get a 7kg barbell bar with 2 spinlock safety locks, 2 dumbell bars with 4 spinlock safety locks and plates that go up as: 4 x 5kg, 4 x 2.5kg, 4 x 1.25 and 4 x 0.5kg. The barbell and the dumbells have good grip sections on them however form blisters on your hands if used a lot, therefore I would suggest purchasing some good quality York weightlifting gloves to prevent this. The spinlock safety locks are good if you tighten them really tight, however they easily gradually unspin if you do not tighten them enough. Also in my opinion the weight of the plates could be in higher weight value, like 4 x 7.5kg just so that people who like to add extra weight can do as it is difficult to get many more than 2 plates on each side especially on the dumbells. I now want to fish for Catfish!!!

Advantages: Split into 4 episodes and not too much technical langauge.
Disadvantages: some more or longer episodes would be nice

...My partner has recently got back into coarse fishing from when he was a kid and so I decided to buy him a fishing DVD for Christmas. I was a little unsure what to buy and so consulted a "fishing god" I know who has been doing it all his life and he advised that anything by Matt Hayes would be a good choice. I decided to have a look on ebay and saw this one for a "buy it now" for about £4 and bought it. Cover: When the DVD arrived I was a little sceptical about what it was going to be like as it was a simple photograph of Matt on the front and four photographs on the back (....maybe it is just me..coming for an era of bright lights and computer graphics!) The back cover gives a basic overview of what is included on the DVD: Fishing for Carp and Catfish in France, Barbel and Chub in the UK, Carp in Italy and Catfish in Spain...

Disadvantages: You have to put up with the bad bits

...The York Folding bench is an incline bench which can be easily adjusted to give 4 different angles of back rest, It also has a detachable leg extension attachment which is great for doing leg curls. It has 2 safety hooks for the barbell bench press which is a must if you are working out on your own and don't have a spotter. It has 2 butterfly attachment which just get in the way and nobody ever really uses them. The maximum total weight it supports is 200kg including body weight so it is good for the heavy lifters. My opinion on the bench is: I think it is really good its durable and comfortable, it can be easily folded up to hide away in a corner. I have had a lot of use out of mine and its still going strong. Its very sturdy and is built with thick metal tubing. Its defiantly worth the wile buying it, it costs around 89...

Fit Ball, Gym Ball, Swiss Ball. Take your pick.

Advantages: Can do a variety of exercises on it
Disadvantages: Bit of an eyesore in the house

..., hamstring curls as well as a variety of abdominal and oblique exercises. If you choose, you can also incorporate your ball into a weights programme, using dumbbells or barbells whilst lying or sitting on it. I purchased my own ball a few years ago and was using it religiously, however, I live in a small flat and it did take up alot of space. Also, being red in colour, it clashed with my decor a bit. It now happily resides deflated in a cupboard. I would recomend a fitness ball. However, it may be a little advanced for those people who have limited or no exercise experience. Getting a fitness professional to demonstrate and check your technique and stability on the ball would be advisable before investing in one. Afterall, falling off it could be painful and embarrasing....

...well. Things to avoid are spicy foods, cigarettes, alcohol, milk, or citrus products. Milk and citrus both have high acids in them which will not feel all too good on that new piercing - it is an open wound, remember. Cigarettes are another good thing to avoid because they are, of course, packed with all sorts of bad things for you and having an open wound means an even more direct route into the blood stream and possible infection. Other smoked drugs will only make this worse. As for jewelery, I suggest a plastic bead on the bottom of your barbell. That way, your dentist won't want to kill you when your teeth are all chipped from having a chunk of stainless steal whipping around the bottom of your mouth.
