A HAVEN FOR THE EXHIBITIONISTS AMONGST YOU
Advantages: Some nice apartments, reasonable food, plenty of swimming pools, a village in its own right
Disadvantages: pools not heated in winter, some terrible apartments
...could have been booked a month ago for about £350 less.
THE OUTLET
The Barcelo Club el Castillo is, as its name suggests, a member of the Barcelo Group, and is one of three outlets owned by them in Calete de Fuste. The others are Barcelo Fuerteventura and Puerto Castillo, they are all next to each other effectively constituting a resort in their own right.
As it was just myself and Tasha travelling, in this instance I did a fair bit of research initially through the Barcelo site and was a mite concerned to discover that the complex consisted of 382 bungalows.
Evidently a ground floor complex from my point of view for two lone females was a security risk so was unhappy before I had even left. Further research through sites such as www.holidaytruths.com and similar established that the Barcelo Club had, in the last year...

Fuerteventura - Wonderful family destination
Advantages: Great weather all year round. Gentle cooling breeze, lots to do.
Disadvantages: You have to come home!
...I have just returned from a fortnight long holiday on the gorgeous sunny island of Fuerteventura - one of the Canary Islands. I travelled with my 2 children ages 10 and 7yrs old, and we all had a wonderful time. I will try to do some justice to this beautiful island in this review.
I travelled there on an all inclusive package deal from Thomas Cook at the end of June, and stayed at a 3* hotel - The Hotel Costa Caleta (which I will review at a later date)
During my time there the weather was around 38-42 degrees most days and was only slightly breezy most days. As you can imagine this got a little bit too hot at times and you really had to get yourself out of the heat by jumping in the pools. I would advise plenty of suncream and plenty of non alcohol fluids!
We actually had a sun care advisor who advised against using a factor...

Winter escape
Advantages: Beautiful beaches, relatively undeveloped, quiet
Disadvantages: windy at times, monotonous landscape
...Desperate for some winter sun we scoured the internet and holiday brochures for a destination. We wanted it to be no more than 4/5 hours flight time, a reasonable temperature, good hotels, nice beaches and not too expensive.
We usually arrange our own holidays and this would be about the 3rd package tour we had ever been on so we were hoping for some improvement on our last experiences. We were also looking for somewhere pretty last minute, which as we all know isn't easy.
Eventually we found a deal that was to Fuerteventura, staying at the Hotel Barcelo in Caleta de Fuste. This hotel had just opened the previous year and was reputedly 4* standard. Now we have stayed in quite a few 4* hotels around the world so our expectaions were pretty high. The downside of the package was that we had to travel on an Airtours charter flight...

Barcelo Cala Vinas a scenic place to please us?
Advantages: Immaculate hotel, great entertainment team, lovely location and superb food.
Disadvantages: Remoteish location, lacking room facilities and the damn bingo!
...We had been looking forward to our holiday to Mallorca for such a long time we thought it was never going to arrive. After a hard year full of ups and downs we were more than ready for the break and had built up the trip into something that had to be the perfect getaway. Of course, a vital part of our holiday would be how good the hotel was so it is with some trepidation that we arrived at the Barcelo Cala Vinas on June 14th 2008.
Booked through Thomas Cook the Barcelo Cala Vinas is part of a chain. The hotel is situated in the quite and serene area of Cala Vinyes, Calvia. Somewhat off the beaten track, the hotel is situated twenty minutes walk from Magalluf and is just over an hour via coach transfer from Palma airport. Overlooking a beautiful little cove, the hotel is one of few tourist properties in the area with only the Cala...

Barceló Margaritas - The Truth!
Advantages: Beaches were lovely...
Disadvantages: Everything I have listed as 'bad'
...Barceló Margaritas
My boyfriend & I stayed here under half board (so breakfast & dinner were included but not lunch) for a week. It was a major emotional rollercoaster, of ups, downs and mediocrity I must admit.
The first day we arrived we threw our belongings down so as to explore, and placed a do not disturb sign on the door.
When we returned we found that one of the staff had helped themselves to 40euros (20 from each of our wallets) this was infuriating since even with travel insurance the hotel and the Thomas Cook reps were extremely unhelpful & unremorseful.
The rest of the review I will put in bullet points:
..: The Good :..
O The weather is great in March
O There are two outdoor pools
O There are plenty of sun loungers
O Reception staff are well mannered
O The decor of the hotel is lovely...

Barcelo where I rested my foot in Tunisia .
Advantages: Good hotel
Disadvantages: food a bit repetative
...Earlier this year we went on Holiday to Hammamet Tunisia. Usually we camp or self cater. I had just come out of hospital and we needed a break so we looked on line and booked last minute the hotel Barceló. This hotel has recently changed hands used to be the Miramar.
We flew into Monastir it took about 45 minutes by coach to get to our hotel. Tunis is about an hour or so the opposite direction.
This hotel is on the sea front 5k from the town centre of Hammamet. Although we hired a car as we wished to see more of Tunis off the beaten track it would be a good hotel to stay in with out your own transport. There is a tourist train /bus that runs from Hammamet town by the Medina to Yasmine Hammamet . The train stops in front of the Baqrcelo. Then of course there are trips that your tour operator will undoubtedly offer too . If you...

Monica Beach Hotel, Fuerteventura
Advantages: Great hotel catering for both families and couples
Disadvantages: Don't mention the war :)
...In the past my wife and I have been pretty relaxed about where and how we holiday. We've done all inclusive, B&B, Half Board, City Breaks, Beach Holidays, make it up as we go along etc.
However we now have a 5-year-old boy to look after and so our holidays have to be thought through in advance.
This year we chose Fuerteventura as our holiday destination and chose the Monica Beach Hotel on the recommendation of our travel agent because of its reputation as a nice family orientated hotel.
The trip from Birmingham Airport takes about 4 to 4 1/2 hours. I'm not going to talk about the flight since different airlines will offer a different standard of service. Suffice to say that I travelled with MyTravel and went 'cattle class' :(
After meeting other people at the resort we later found that people had travelled from airports as far...

Barcelo Solymar
Advantages: Beach, big swimming pool
Disadvantages: Mosquito
...My family and I stayed at the Barcelo Solymar Hotel for two weeks in June 2005. The first thing I must say about this hotel is what a great location, the beach is right on its door step and must the one of the best beaches in the world, the white sand seems to go on forever and the sea is so clear and warm it is almost like your stepping into a giant bath tub.
The hotel itself is very large with one of the biggest swimming pools I have ever seen! The hotel has a huge open lobby area, it is very pretty with a nice bar, lots of different seating areas, a few shops, a bank and the reception desk. My biggest complaint about this hotel would have to be no air conditioning in the lobby, it is unbearable to stay by the bar because of the heat most nights I found myself taking drinks to my room to enjoy the air-con.
Second biggest problem...

Fuerteventura - A couple's point of view
Advantages: Perfect for a relaxing holiday, a beach lovers paradise
Disadvantages: It can be deceptively windy in June/July
...I have visted Fuerteventura twice and I have visited many parts of the Island. I was 19 when I went last, with my boyfriend. We stayed at Playa Park Hotel in Corralejo in 2004.
The Hotel was simple yet cosy, fantastic for a young couple, it had everything we needed. We didnt have any trouble at the hotel, the staff were pleasant and helpful. The tour rep was available if required, and we arranged a trip to the south of the Island (Jandia) which was equally as beautiful as Corralejo.
The long sandy beaches are stunning, especially the sandunes. Camel rides are availble on the beach, although we didnt get chance to ride them.
We stayed self-catering and I believe it was worth it. There are a choice of restaurants and bars in the evenings which range from quiet local bars, to lively clubs. It is not expensive when compared to...
